Hello, everyone!

Since there are so many new dreamwalkers who've just arrived, I thought it might be nice to encourage everyone to get together and meet! There is a communal firepit in a clearing just outside of the residential area where I've got a fire going, and I have plenty of supplies to make "s'mores," which I only just learned about recently. (Thank you, Miss Tifa!) If you haven't had this before, please come and try it, it's delicious!

Additionally, I have a request for everyone to please keep an eye out for a few individuals... I realize that this may be in vain since their names did not appear in the directory, but just in case...

Colin
He is a tall, half-elven man with long, dark hair. He is very charismatic and funny and likely to be found busking with his lute somewhere or telling stories!

Aerie
Also tall, but fully an elf, very pretty and intelligent, also with dark hair (but not related to Colin!). She usually has three wolves with her. Extremely competent hunter!

Mellon
Also tall, also fully an elf, he usually does not wear a shirt. He loves to drink and might try to clear out any supply of alcohol... Please do not get into a tavern brawl with him.

Dae
Also tall, and also fully an elf, with white hair and red eyes. He is very good at magic and possibly would want to spar with you! Would likely have an owl familiar with him.

Cibark
Even taller and very very strong! He is a half-orc with green skin and usually wears armor and wields large weapons. He has a very dashing and heroic aura about him!

Sian
Not tall! They usually wear a cloak and a mask. Usually quiet but very sassy. They might be flying around, but they also don't usually remember that they can do that.

If at any point in the future you come across anybody who seems to fit these descriptions, please let me know!

I'm so glad that you think so! I always feel as though there are so many of us dreamwalkers around, but it's hard to get to know everyone, so maybe something like this would help...

Are there any other campfire delicacies that you know about? I would love to learn more if you do!

Oh! And if you're sure. You really don't mind me calling you Tifa?

[ Listen, it's hard to tell! She has friends that seem younger than she is but in reality are hundreds of years older... it's just what happens when your usual company is elves. ]

I'd prefer it, actually!

I've got plenty. Used to set up fires out back behind the bar sometimes with friends to celebrate whatever needed celebrating. Are you looking for something sweet or savoury?

[Or maybe both!]

I haven't really done this since arriving here, but my friends and I would make camp whenever we were traveling on the road. I usually handle all our meals, so... I would love to hear about your ideas!

My other favourite sweet treat are what my friend called "banana boats". You take a fresh banana, peel it, and stick it in aluminum foil with all the fix-ins of a s'more, and roast that over a fire. He liked to think it made it healthier by adding the fruit.

Fresh bananas were pretty expensive back home, so they were always a treat. Haven't had one in a long time.

Wow, that sounds so delicious!

But bananas... Those can be hard to come by where I'm from, too! I've only really seen them out in the jungles. I wonder if we can find bananas here? Should we look in the Wildlands sometime?

Sure! I haven't been out there much myself, so it'll be like a little adventure! Maybe we'll find some other fruits out there too.

[That's settled. They're going out to the Wildlands to go fruit picking someday!]

Hmm, let's see. Another campfire favourite would be candied bacon, for the sweet and salty lovers out there.

We'll just have to be really careful in case of fae magic... I wouldn't be surprised if eating foraged fruits had some kind of strange effect!

[ But maybe they won't, and that would be great. ]

Oh... I do like sweet and salty as a combination! I didn't realize you would have so many cooking ideas, Tifa!

Plenty more where that came from. But maybe I'll keep some of them a surprise.

My friends and I used to have fires out back behind my bar all the time, and sometimes they'd try all kinds of weird combinations of food. Most weren't great, but it's always worth a shot. You never know!

[Which brings her to the other part she had been thinking about...]

Speaking of, you and your friends used to gather round fires too, yeah?

Oh! So you owned a bar... that sounds like so much fun. I bet your bar was really popular, too!

[ Ori honestly isn't much for taverns, herself, unless she's traveling with folks but... she would certainly stop at any tavern of Tifa's! ]

We did, sometimes. We have had to make camp in places where we're far away from any inns or towns, so usually we'll gather around a fire and eat together before people start to bed down for the night and we take watches. That's the sort of time we have to spend recovering from the day, too, so I always try to make sure everyone's well fed...

Honestly? That sounds like a lot of fun.

[And something that she and the gang might have to do now that they've left Midgar. She has no idea how far Kalm will be for them, but a fire overnight doesn't seem so bad.]

What'd you guys end up eating out there?

Whenever I have ingredients on me, I try to cook up a stew or something really warm and comforting and filling! But if not then usually we have to make due with what we can gather or hunt, but that's fine too!

It's been a while since we got to camp like that too, though. Before I came here, we had been staying in towns a bit and then my friend was letting us stay in his castle.

A castle!? Is your friend a noble or something? Oh, or a prince?

He's a prince...

[ Although Colin probably wouldn't appreciate Ori telling strangers from a dream realm about his identity, even if he wasn't around. ]

But secretly! I only just found out too. It's complicated... but the castle was really big! It took forever for me to find the kitchen!

[It's fine. That secret is safe with Tifa!]

I've only ever stayed in a castle once, back in the other world I was in and they waited on us like we were royalty. Pretty surreal, considering I've never even seen one before.

What was his like?

It was really huge. I'd never been in a castle before, so I felt pretty lost. A lot of things had happened, though, so parts of it were not in good shape... I had just been helping to fix the gardens up before I got here, actually.

[ ...Although, wait... Ori re-reads what Tifa had written her, and spots something peculiar about what she'd said. ]

What do you mean by "the other world," Tifa?

Oh. A world that wasn't my own that I was in before this one. I actually haven't been back home in a while. Almost a year now, give or take.

[It's still a bit crazy to think about. Maybe she has been back to Gaia, but she has no memory of it.]

It was a city called Camelot. Sort of like this place, but bigger... and very real. At least, I think it was? It was definitely not a dream.

Eustace, Zidane, and I were all there together, but I'm the only one who remembers any of it.

[ There's a delay in her response as she considers what Tifa's written. There's so much to unpack - Tifa's been away from her own world for that long— but not here? She didn't even know that it would be possible to be in other worlds. ]

I see. I didn't know that there were even more worlds you could get pulled into, away from your own. Was it another world... like this one, where it didn't seem to be anyone's home?

[ Is it possible to get pulled into another dreamwalker's world, if so...?

And then, because she certainly doesn't miss that detail: ]

I didn't know you and Eustace had known each other for that long! I suppose it's complicated because he doesn't remember... that must be difficult to deal with.

You know Eustace?

[Just an observation before she continues, because she isn't even all that surprised. She's so proud of him for making friends and being less of a grumpy lone wolf... :') ]

It was pretty rough at first, but we figured it out.

[And that's all she'll say on the matter.......!]

But yeah, another world like this one! There were plenty of locals, and lots of other places to visit. There were a bunch of people just like us, too. Others who were away from home. Guess you could say this isn't my first rodeo.

He's a friend! I helped him find you in that dreamscape where you were Juliet!

[ You're welcome, Tifa? Maybe? ]

That's incredible... I didn't know how much crossing over different worlds could happen. But it's sad that not everyone remembers... Do you think we'll forget this place if we left it?

[Just going to casually side-step that and tuck that little piece of information away for later. Ori doesn't seem to know, so that's... okay?

Honestly? I'm not sure... I'd like to think not, but I learned that before I got there, another version of me had been before. But I didn't remember anything that happened. I didn't remember being there, or that I'd gone back at all.

I guess that's sort of the same thing as Eustace and Zidane, huh.

Oh...

[ This... Has given her a lot to think about, but ultimately she has to remember what Thoma told her. Even if my mind does forget you one day, my heart won’t. You’re a part of it now.

And that helps. The thought of Ori being forgotten to the nebulous void of these multiple worlds and realms and whatever else is unsettling, even despite the fact that she would have been happy to have been forgotten, not all that long ago. ]

I guess that would be all the more reason to enjoy the time we have with everyone here in the moment, right?

[It is a lot to think about, and a lot to take in. It's something that's been on Tifa's mind nonstop in Camelot, and then again here... Having been through that loss once before, it doesn't make it any easier, even if this one has a happier ending. So far.]

The experience is different for everyone, and even if people forget, that's all the more reason to try a little harder now, right?

[That's what she did. Is doing.]

That's why I think it's a good idea to have these sorts of gatherings. Little breaths of fresh air in between all the other stuff going on. Sit back and get to know all the people we're here with, learn about them and where they come from. That's been my favourite part so far.

[ It takes Ori a moment to respond, to really let what Tifa says sit in her head for a bit. She's right, and as are the others who have reminded her to live in the now - even before she became someone who was caught up in the whims of dream realms and whatnot, the friends that she'd spoken of in her posting would often tell her not to worry about the past or the future, or else she'll miss the present.

In the end, she comes away from that introspection believing one thing unquestionably: ]

You're a very strong person, Tifa.

I'll do my best to help make sure the next gathering is going to be just as memorable! I haven't forgotten about the potluck idea, after all. And karaoke.

[It's sweet of her to say, and Tifa would like to believe that one-hundred percent, and while she may not, hearing it come from someone else does mean a lot to her.]

And don't forget about that trek through the mountains either. I still wanna see if we can find fresh bananas for those fireside treats!

Of course! It feels like it's been so long since I went hiking in mountains, so I'm really looking forward to that, too.

I hope we find lots of yummy things to bring back, but I know it's going to be a wonderful time because I'll be with you, Tifa!
