The water still touches the pipes. And who's to say that anything bad is stuck there just above the hole in the faucet? There's a reason why water filtration plants exist!

are we saying that the metal pipe is the only way to get water right now? if it is then i guess you'd have to drink it

I'm fine receiving water through faucets and using metal pipes as straws. What I was trying to say is that there are water sanitation plants out there to kill all the things in the water before it ever reaches the pipes in your house.
