[ Whatever starts appearing in the journals looks a little messy. No, the writer is not drunk. They're upset. They're weepy, they're having A Time. ]

We left in October but got here in July... and now it's four months later and it's November here and back home, it's... That means today... today would be our daughter's birthday, AGAIN. And because of the time difference... It means I missed it TWICE! Our daughter's fifth birthday!! TWICE!! The FIRST one we would have spent together, and I'm not even THERE! Not there to make her THE BEST CAKE EVER, and decorate the house, and celebrate! I don't know how I'll ever make it up to her, she'll never get that I missed it two times... Wait. WAIT. does that mean she's two years older now?? My baby is growing up without me?! No WAY! Soon she'll be dating that little CREEP and then getting married and -

[ if someone were around the tree house Kazuki resides in, they would hear a pained shriek, followed by HE BETTER STAY AWAY WHILE WE'RE ASLEEP. It, in fact, disturbs some of the birds in the branches nearby, and they fly out of the tree at the sudden noise. Oops. ]

And she's five but she's not stupid. She'll know if I missed her birthday - and even if she doesn't, I will, and I'm the one who has to live with it! Her first birthday with us - you can't replace something like that!

I wasn't implying that she is, but it has to do with child growth and development, it was an effort to make you feel less concerned, but I can see it did not help.

If you are missing it though, I'm sure you can make it up to her. I deal with a good amount of kids, but they aren't mine.

Wait, why do you deal with so many kids that aren't yours? Are you some kind of teacher?

Something like that. I'm actually the chief of the village and the kids all used to come ask me a million questions to see if they could stump me, which of course not. I also taught a few lessons at the primary school when I had a request to do so, and I was the primary physician for a decade.

It was a very small village of roughly 150 people. These days though, I'm much less interesting as most of those kids are teenagers now.

If you're an expert on something, it's nice to know that ahead of time.

An expert in some ways, but I'm not a parent so I don't have that experience. All the book smarts in the world doesn't necessarily account for specific children.

[ He's not going to be a parent either, unless they find an orphan in need or something, then it would be a discussion. ]

It's not like I'm an expert at being a parent just because I am. Otherwise I wouldn't be freaking the hell out right now...
