Subject: In Light of Affairs...

We continue to be in changing times. More bodies arrive. Things adjust. Days adapt. We evolve. I am acutely aware of the growing number of issues in our recent days. I support the notion of a council to deliver swiftly the consequences for those who would disrupt the way of life here.

I wish to propose an addition—

It seems it would be beneficial to provide preventative measures to otherwise ward against such happenstances. I served as my queen's military general in the world I hail from, though was also tasked with the guardianship of her, my princess, and the town in which I served. It is my belief that those of us with similar ability to defend and protect ought to do so for those who cannot.

I motion the addition of a properly-established guard, for protection of local citizenry. This may also be able to extend to other practises, such as escorting those who require assistance into dangerous or unexplored territories. It is likely that this would offer other advantages to the whole of society here as well.

[He has no reason to actively oppose her guard and its mission, so long as it remains pure to her intentions. His plan is to operate outside of its limitations, administering justice where red tape prevents an official organization from acting efficiently and effectively.

If Beatrix is a rabid dog, then so is he. The main difference is that he's convinced that being rabid is the best course of action for himself and those around him. Unbeknownst to him, he's about to get something of a rude awakening on that front.]

I appreciate it.

[She's not going to press him. Not anymore than she already has. He isn't stopping her, after all, and he's accepted her explanations for why she wants to do as she is, though Beatrix never needed to justify herself to begin with.]

How are you recovering?

[Beatrix doesn't ask that easily, but given what they've both been through, it seems like the right thing to do. Often, the right thing isn't always the easiest thing. In fact, it usually isn't.]

[Diluc appreciates that Beatrix knows when to back off, more than she possible realizes. He's used to busybodies, both well-meaning ones and ones determined to get under his skin. That she seeks to be neither is a relief--but then, he wouldn't expect her to be that sort of person in the first place.]

I've recovered well enough. There are no lingering effects, which I'm grateful for.

You're doing well post-dreamscape, I imagine?

[As much as can be expected, in any case.]

I seem to be sufficient.

[There's an unspoken 'thank you' lingering in there somewhere that she's not inclined to part with at this particular moment, but it's there nonetheless.]

I was more concerned about your status. I was not injured, after all.

[Which is almost more than gratitude. Voicing concern? Almost unheard of from her. Surely under the guise that he's a valuable asset. It'd be a shame to lose a capable combatant.]

[Don't worry, Beatrix, he won't call you out on this. They're just talking soldier to soldier.]

Aside from the transformation, the injury itself was rather minor. I've suffered worse.

Good. Who knows when next you will be needed. It is only a matter of time.

[Diluc can't help but smile a bit at the message. There's almost no sentimentality in their relationship, and he quite likes it that way.]

Whenever I'm needed, I'll be ready. I promise you that.

I will be holding you to that.

[It sounds so much more threatening than it actually means. If anything, it simply means that Beatrix finds him reliable. Dependable. Like a more... subdued Zidane.]
