S'mores! And a Request

Subject: S'mores! And a Request
Hello, everyone!
Since there are so many new dreamwalkers who've just arrived, I thought it might be nice to encourage everyone to get together and meet! There is a communal firepit in a clearing just outside of the residential area where I've got a fire going, and I have plenty of supplies to make "s'mores," which I only just learned about recently. (Thank you, Miss Tifa!) If you haven't had this before, please come and try it, it's delicious!
Additionally, I have a request for everyone to please keep an eye out for a few individuals... I realize that this may be in vain since their names did not appear in the directory, but just in case...
[ Ori why are you always surrounded by tall people ]
If at any point in the future you come across anybody who seems to fit these descriptions, please let me know!
(( ooc: Naturally open to these moving into or starting as an action thread! Come get s'mores! Or not. I can't tell you what to do. ))

Colin
He is a tall, half-elven man with long, dark hair. He is very charismatic and funny and likely to be found busking with his lute somewhere or telling stories!
Aerie
Also tall, but fully an elf, very pretty and intelligent, also with dark hair (but not related to Colin!). She usually has three wolves with her. Extremely competent hunter!
Mellon
Also tall, also fully an elf, he usually does not wear a shirt. He loves to drink and might try to clear out any supply of alcohol... Please do not get into a tavern brawl with him.
Dae
Also tall, and also fully an elf, with white hair and red eyes. He is very good at magic and possibly would want to spar with you! Would likely have an owl familiar with him.
Cibark
Even taller and very very strong! He is a half-orc with green skin and usually wears armor and wields large weapons. He has a very dashing and heroic aura about him!
Sian
Not tall! They usually wear a cloak and a mask. Usually quiet but very sassy. They might be flying around, but they also don't usually remember that they can do that.

I didn't manage to catch your scenes very much... [ she was......... distracted...... ] But I didn't realize you would be so passionate about acting! I heard that there's a new theater in town too, so maybe you'll consider a repeat performance or something?
no subject
I have a great love for the arts. Music, in particular, but theatre and fine arts, as well. I'm interested to see what these new additions will have to offer our community; it would be heartening to see them put to good use. Perhaps a repeat performance can be arranged! Though I would make some alterations to the final scene, all the same.
no subject
[ Anyway. ]
Do you happen to play any instruments? I have a lyre, and although I'm not the best at playing it, maybe we could play together or something!
[ Jam session?? ]
no subject
I play a few, in fact. Violin, most notably, though... it's been quite some time since I performed publicly.
[Or, in truth, touched his violin at all— though it has recently been returned to him, following the aforementioned event.]
I've been thinking it's about time I started again, though this gathering might be a bit soon. It's rather a long story.
no subject
[ She likes music a lot! And for this reason she really admires bards and people who can bring joy into others' lives with music. ]
But in any case, I hope I'll be seeing you soon, instrument or no. I'll be here welcoming people all evening, so!
no subject
[It is difficult, quite often, to think back to the last time he did, but the time has come to move forward, to heal.]
Nevertheless, I will be there, and perhaps with company. I will be certain to tell my friends about your gathering, as well. If there is anything else I can assist with, you need but ask.
no subject
There are so many of us dreamwalkers here that it's difficult to get to know everybody, but if they're friends of yours, Dohalim, then they must be good people.
no subject
I will be along shortly, my friend.
> action
[ And surely, whenever Dohalim arrives, there is a modest gathering of people around the clearing where there the communal fire pit is situated. And around the clearing, too, are little floating motes of light, a manifestation of Ori's feelings around reaching out and welcoming new and less-new friends alike in dreamotion.
The moment that she spots him, she excuses herself from whatever quiet conversation she'd been having with somebody to meet him with a welcoming smile. ]
Dohalim...! Welcome! It's - it's so nice to finally meet you in person.
no subject
Likewise— though our previous meeting was near enough, I much prefer these circumstances.
[As does she, he's certain.]
It seems you've had quite the turnout. I've brought cider with me, to be warmed over the fire for those who wish to partake.
no subject
I do, too.
[ In that, he is so right. At his mentioning cider, though, her demeanor brightens as she claps her hands together, and the flowers in her hair bounce in tune with the delighted hum she gives. ]
Cider! Oh, that's perfect! Here, we can get that warmed up right away!
[ Turning towards the pit, Ori lifts her hands and readily conjures a pot positioned over the bonfire. ]
no subject
I had thought it might suit the circumstances.
[It does seem just right for an evening spent around a large bonfire. As for her conjuring—]
Your dreamotion is really quite impressive, Miss Oriphi— I suppose your inclination towards magic has helped you along in that regard.
no subject
I— I suppose so...! It's a little tricky to draw on dreamotion instead of my usual spellcasting abilities, sometimes, but... I guess I've always been kind of an open book with my emotions, so that helps.
[ She would argue that she perhaps feels too much, but that's a story for another day! Tonight, there will be cider and s'mores. She gestures towards the pot, allowing him to pour the cider into it whenever he sees fit and indeed being a little surprised when he doesn't appear to need her assistance. ]
How about you, Dohalim? How has dreamotion been treating you?
no subject
[He has found his own experiences to be quite similar. Perhaps being both an artist and endlessly curious means he is especially well-suited to open his mind up to the world around them and allow dream and emotion energy to work through him.]
I have been experimenting with it at length.
[He pauses in his explanation as he lifts the cask he'd brought with him and uncorks it, proceeding to pour the cider into the pot provided.]
It is not so different from how I would cast spells in my own world, drawing on the energy in my surroundings.
no subject
That's exactly how I feel, as well! My magic has always drawn on nature and its energies - so in a way using dreamotion feels very much the same!
Have you discovered anything interesting from experimenting with it?
no subject
[He has noticed that experience hasn't exactly been universal, but it puts people like himself and Ori in an excellent position to assist others where they may— an opportunity he has already seized a few times by now.]
What has been impressed upon me the most is just how personal the results seem to be. Even two people who seem similar in nature, have like passions and temperaments— their dreamotion effects could be nothing alike, even if one might expect otherwise.
no subject
I agree. It's sort of fun to see what someone's dreamotion manifests as, don't you think? It's almost like you can learn something about someone, just from looking at that.
[ She looks a bit sheepish, and she has to wonder for a moment what Dohalim's dreamotion does, too. The effects of her own are clear as day, after all, acting almost like an inescapable mood indicator on any given day. ]
Has anybody surprised you with what their dreamotion looked like?
no subject
[He agrees with her wholeheartedly, the curve of his smile pulling slightly to one side as he nods in response.]
Through dreamotion, we are given an opportunity to catch a glimpse into the hearts and minds of others— and indeed, we can learn a great deal from that alone.
[He's glad she sees things the same way!]
I cannot say anyone has surprised me yet, but in truth, perhaps that is only because I am not easily surprised. Instead, I examine what I see from various angles and consider how it might be representative of the one who brought it forth. I suppose that is— not as entertaining an answer as you were hoping for.
no subject
At his answer, she can't help but sigh, although there's nothing put-upon or exasperated behind it. Instead, there's some kind of understanding or knowing; Dohalim had, after all, approached the task of urging Oriphi to wake up form her nightmare much in the same way as he's describing how he approaches others' dreamotion. So... it tracks. ]
Perhaps not, but it's a good answer all the same. You seem like an incredibly sharp person, Dohalim.
[ She gives a little smile of her own. ]
Maybe someone will surprise you, yet! But probably not me.
no subject
[He smiles warmly, tapping the side of his head with his index finger. She does have a point, however— her brand of power is well-represented in every facet of her person.]
Perhaps either one of us may end up surprising ourselves. There is no way of knowing what we are yet capable of in this world, for we are thinking of these things within limits set by our previous experiences.
[Big brain thoughts...]
no subject
Oh... Oh! That's just it, isn't it, Dohalim?
[ A smile spreads across her lips. ]
Perhaps, for those who struggle with dreamotion... they have to dream bigger! That's what this realm is all about, after all!
no subject
Is it?
[He closes his eyes a moment as he considers, letting out a soft hmm as he brings his hand to rest against his chin.]
I think you summed it up quite nicely. I hadn't quite managed to articulate it in such a way myself, but it is deceptively simple, is it not? 'Dream bigger.' That really is the heart of the matter.
no subject
Perhaps..! But doing that really is easier said than done, isn't it? Especially for someone who isn't used to thinking that way, I can imagine that simply "dreaming bigger" won't be all that helpful...
no subject
[He is a poet, an artist, a musician. 'Dreaming bigger' comes easily to him, is in his very nature, but while he has the self-awareness to realize not all may share that particular gift, he doesn't know how to explain or encourage it in someone else.]
To some, it comes quite easily. I am used to thinking in the abstract— but I know not how to teach someone else to do the same.
🎀
Well... We don't have to have it all figured out right at this moment, do we? Come on, let's enjoy this delicious cider you've brought and the lovely evening ahead of us! Maybe we'll be struck with inspiration yet...!
[ With that, she ladles some of the now-warmed cider into cups for the both of them, and then gestures them over to a quiet place to sit in the clearing, where they can continue to talk shop and magic and nature until Oriphi is inevitably called away to greet other guests.
But it's okay, Dohalim, because Beatrix is here too, "keeping watch" over the event.]
