[After about a day or two of dealing with the entire town changing suddenly and a little bit of anxiety regarding the following subject...]

So this is the second time I've found somebody in a dead sleep I can't get them out of, and I was wondering if anybody else has seen it happen? It doesn't seem like it hurts them or they need anything special, but it can be kind of alarming to come visit a friend and they're just lying there and won't wake up for days. For the record, the last time it happened, my friend came out of it fine as far as I know, but she's not here anymore, so I can't ask her more about it.

[It's probably a good thing he already went through this or the panic might have had... a very bad effect on him, as he is now. Anyway...!]

I guess if anybody needs Prince Hans, they'll have to take a rain check. I can take any messages for him.

And if someone could let me know how to take care of a horse, that would be great. I'd like him to not have to worry about his poor animal when he wakes up.

[A warning, huh...?]

Oh, yeah. I could see that happening. Now I'm kind of sad I don't get to see a medieval callout post.

[... probably for the best, though. Ferran can imagine how hard it would be for him to have to deal with the person who tried to kill him being here. He wouldn't wish that on anybody, even if he likes Hans enough to look past that mess.]

[ ...Yeah, something like that is hard to miss. The colors make the unicorn plush stand out, and when she picks it up, she can't help but squeeze its little horn.

No squeaking, at least, so she can't say it is a dog toy. ]

That is a long time. What's he like? [ Does the unicorn have a name/name tag? Important questions. ] . . . Does he happen to have a daughter?

Aside from walking, wagons, and airships, it's the main method of transportation in my world. Even then it's dependent on the island as not all of them have horses or comparable steeds. Regardless, it's a skill that I knew I would need so I saw no reason to not learn.

[Oh boy did it happen. And Ferran didn't have much better of a time than Kazuma did, probably.]

Yeah. Magic is just unpredictable, and I can never get a straight answer about it.

[He's a bit tired of that, despite using it all the time... or maybe it's because he relies on it so much.]

You hadn't encountered it before you came here, right?

["Unpredictable" is precisely how Yujin always thought of the concept of magic, so it's interesting to have it confirmed like that. He finally moves the stethoscope over his shoulders, keeping the buds close to his ears.]

That's right. My world is decidedly normal compared to all this. ...Or perhaps boring is a better word for it.

[Sadly, the unicorn doesn't have much that's indicative of any origin or recipient. But Ferran lets out a disparaging laugh, almost in disbelief at the question. Hans, a parent of any kind?? He's not sorry in his opinion of that being a terrible idea, at least as things stand now.]

Oh, god, no. [He turns to Susato to see what might have brought on the question, setting aside the answer of what Hans is like for now.] Why?

[Though Ferran nods in response to the reasonable answer, his attention is caught by another detail entirely, drawn away from the horse-related issues of present.]

What are your airships like? I mean—what are they made of, and how do they fly?

[Although Yujin has turned to examine Hans, Ferran shakes his head in disagreement anyway.]

I don't think boring is the right word for it. I mean—you live on Earth, right? Even without magic, there's just... so much in the world that's worth seeing.

[There may be a somber hint to his voice, brought on by the thought that he'll never get to experience more of it than he has.]

The materials vary depending on the type of ship. Most common ships are made of wood with reinforced steel, but more modern ships particularly the military and speedships will be constructed mostly of steel and other stronger materials.

As for how they fly, they were historically made based of Astral engineering requiring though there have been modern advancements. I don't know the full specifics, but it's the technology and magic used in the engine that powers the ship and keeps it airborne.

[ Rather than make her feel stupid, Ferran's laugh is actually rather delightful. Maybe a part of her still thinks she's being made fun of, however, so when he turns, he will see Susato holding up the unicorn in question with a casual shrug.

Trying not to smile. ]

It practically jumped out at me. [ Which in this world, is not totally impossible, so let's not manifest it. You know what she means. ]

That... is also true. [He did truly mean boring in comparison to all that goes on here, but then... There's no murder mysteries in Reverein, now are there? Not yet, in any case.]

Earth is exciting in its own ways. One doesn't need magic to stir things up.

Wood, huh...

[And magic. So there's the potential that what he has in his head is accurate. He must know.]

So do they have, like, decks outside that you can stand on while they're flying?

[He at least wasn't laughing at her expense, but Hans's.]

Huh. [Ferran tilts his head, a pleasant smile still on his face even though there's a hint of confusion in his brow.] I can see why.

[He wouldn't have taken Hans as the type to own much that's cute, at least not for his own sake. And Ferran doesn't think he's invested in fooling anyone in particular...?]

He's still kind of a mystery to me sometimes, to be honest.

[And hopefully there won't be...?! Maybe they can just have some non-murder mysteries.]

Exactly. It's just a matter of looking for it... if you ask me, anyway.

[He'll probably grow quiet for the moment, to see if Yujin can pick up anything out of the ordinary with Hans. Even though he really doesn't think so, he can't help but worry a little over the possibility.]

[A small nod.]

They do.

[ Hmmm... Well, if Ferran doesn't have any insight into the matter, the answer certainly isn't going to jump out at her. Not without some more investigation. She decides to put it back where she found it for now.

If you catch her patting the unicorn's head or squeezing its horn, no you didn't. ]

It's cute. Maybe it's a keepsake of some sort.

[ Like, maybe it reminds him of someone else? ]

Did you find anything in his room where he is sleeping?

That must be interesting.

[He's certainly been on boats before, but that's an entirely different experience from being in the air.]

Where I'm from, the only "airships" around are ones where you have to stay inside the whole time, because they move too fast. They used to have slower ones where you could stand outside as it moved, but... there was a disaster and they got a lot less popular.

[Which is a shame, if you ask him.]

[Yujin continues his examinations, but really, there's nothing out of the ordinary to be found. It truly is just like a very deep sleep in every way. Well, except perhaps for one thing. He throws a sideways glance Ferran's way.]

Would you happen to know if his metabolism was fully halted? The digestive system, I mean.

Could be. Or... maybe a gift? [... that he didn't bother getting rid of. Feels like the more likely option. Hmm.

He shrugs at the question, because of course he did look—though perhaps not so thoroughly that it might be called snooping. Better to just check if anything important is around, you know?]

Nothing you wouldn't expect in any bedroom. For a prince, you'd think he'd want a little more in terms of luxury, but maybe he's been trying the utilitarian thing?

Hmm.

[ Susato seems to be thinking about something, but otherwise doesn't know what to say. Other than the fact that, well, she might know someone like that. Trying the utilitarian thing. ]

Can you show me? I promise to be respectful. [ At the very least, she'll get to see what he looks like. ]

Sure.

[He trusts Susato; she's not going to do anything weird, and if Hans has a problem with her being around, he can take it up with Ferran later.

He tilts his head in the direction of the bedroom, leading her that way. Inside is one redheaded prince in a deep magical sleep, like a reverse fairy tale or something. There's really not much else remarkable about the way he looks.

Once they've stepped inside, he folds his arms and leans against the wall.]

I don't think anything is wrong, judging from the last time I saw this happen, but it would be nice to have some warning, you know?

If a ship reaches a certain speed and height it's also advised to stay inside, but there's some magic to help shield against the windows and atmosphere.

What kind of disaster was it?

[Given the number of disasters that can happen he can take a few guesses.]

[ Nope! Definitely doesn't have a single weird bone in her body. She will follow Ferran in the direction of his head tilt, looking along the walls to either side of her as she goes.

When he enters the room, she sees Ferran lean against the wall, which supposes is Ferran body language for "have at it." So she approaches Hans cautiously, taking note of his features as closes in on him. She is hesitant, but reaches her hand out to feel for a fever, and in the end, she's as puzzled as before. ]

Hmm. I wonder if there is a sickness that mimics sleep...

If there is a name for it, my father might know. You said you've found someone else like this before?

Magic makes everything more convenient, it seems...

[And more confusing. But to answer Eustace's question:]

Well, the way it managed to stay in the air was using a specific kind of gas. Unfortunately, that gas was pretty flammable, and there was an accident where one of them ended up exploding. You can imagine how people would react to hearing about that.

[There's just a high raise of his brows at that.]

...There are risks and sometimes catastrophic failures, but I've never heard of an airship made with flammable gas. That seems...unwise.
