Well, anchoring it felt like the most important aspect. Mentally, emotionally, physically. The more familiar I was with a place, the more connected I was, the easier a portal was to make. And I had physically to make it. For me, it had to be something natural like a ring of grass or stones, but I doubt Fae restrictions are relevant here. So maybe making or carving a new door yourself or something could work well for you.
