I just got here a few months ago and I still need some help moving into a treehouse. It's a lot to manage on my own so I was actually looking for a roommate.

I can cook and clean so I have that covered. It's just me here so far so if you're fine with that I'd be happy to share this place with a friend.

Do you have any skills? I'm not going to ask for too much.

I can fight, and I can create things you might need for cooking and cleaning and any other household chores. Within reason, that is. Nothing too large and not too much at once.

I'm trying to become a better magus but I don't even know where to begin with that. I'm so far from my goal that I'm not even at the starting line yet. Complicated magic and magecraft is beyond me. I can only use projection and strengthening spells.

I'm going to assume your formal training on that front has been fairly limited, then? If you've had any at all.

Your assumptions would be right. I've been training myself every night but my knowledge on magecraft isn't that great. My father Kiritsugu was the one who taught me but he died before I could learn more.

So what I'm working with isn't much. What do you know about magic?

I'm a mirrist-- that would be my world's version of a magic user. Mirristry isn't the same as the magic from other worlds, but there are enough similarities that I could likely provide at least some advice.

If nothing else, I could help teach you the focus you need to be able to use magic well.

Mirrist magic sounds more impressive than anything I can do. That would be great.


Even if there's some differences the foundation might be similar. Magecraft is a type of spell that can be used by certain people. I think some mages are born into it but I'm not like that. I was really young when I started learning it. I also hear that mages pass down their craft through families, but since I'm an adopted child I didn't learn it properly.

I won't be able to teach you mirristry-- only those from a mirrist bloodline are able to wield that. But as you said, the foundations are likely similar. The basic concepts of concentration and focus should also be the same.

It's no surprise that you would struggle with the use of magic if you weren't born into a family of magic users. Those born into such a family are trained from birth to use their craft... there's no simple way to make up for a lack of those years of training.

That's okay, I probably wouldn't even be any good at mirristry anyway.

I'm always so bad with spells. There's another mage I knew back home and she was trained properly with her family. Her name's Rin Tohsaka. She was trying to help me catch up on learning but no matter what I did I just couldn't produce decent results.

I suppose it matters when you start learning. How about you? Do you feel comfortable using spells?

Yes-- it's been a part of my training from a young age. Members of my family were expected to have mastered their abilities by the time they reached adulthood.

It may be best for you to simply start over again from the beginning and work on mastering the basics before attempting anything more complex. Once you've established that foundation, the rest should come more easily.

Well, I normally start by creating a magic circuit. There's always a chance that fails so I can't even begin until that part works.

Something bad happened when I failed to do it properly so my magic circuts aren't really in good shape. How do you use mirristry?

A mirrist utilizes a special mirror known as a mirrage to focus and channel their abilities. From the way you've described it, a magic circuit seems to serve a similar purpose in your world's form of magic. Am I correct?

Oh hey, you're right they do sound similar.

Magecraft is an imperfect form of magic though. There's something that magi try to reach in their lifetimes called true magic but I wouldn't know too much about it. Is there anything else you want to know?
