Subject: A Big Confession

Okay I'm not sure how to go about this, but I'd super appreciate it if everyone read this??? Because I have a super huge confession to make and it's important to me. And it'd probably explain a lot about how I've been acting since I'm pretty sure I've weirded a lot out of you out.

Guess the best way to start is with the backstory. So like a super long time ago, my ancestor Sun Yee lived in this village during war time, and all the men went off to fight. But that left the village kinda defenseless, y'know? She wanted to protect her daughters so she prayed to the gods for help. So the gods gave her the ability to turn into a gigantic red panda so she could fight off any invaders and protect her home. Because she really loved red pandas.

Now I know that sounds SUPER MADE UP but I promise it's real because that ability got passed down through the generations - which leads to me. Whenever I get super emotional about anything (happy, sad, angry, you name it) I turn into the Panda. Sometimes just a small trigger will set off parts of the Panda, like ears and tail - so if you've seen me try to head my head or my butt, uh, yeah, that's why. Now some of you may be asking why I've been hiding this because we've got literal animals and demons walking and talking around this world like it's no biggie.

IT IS A SUPER BIGGIE IN MY WORLD. Like, no one thinks gods and magic actually exist??? I sure didn't! No one told me about this "blessing" until it happened to me like a few weeks before I came here! And I freaked out and nearly destroyed my home and temple! I'm already a huge target for bullying at my school, this would be infinity times worse! There is this ritual to seal up the Panda but this place grabbed me before we could do it!

But this world is different. Yeah, obviously. But like... everyone's so nice? And understanding? Plus while the idea of a giant Red Panda sounds super silly, that form of mine is actually really strong, so it could help fight monsters here and stuff. So... I'm not going to try and hide it anymore. As long as I'm here, I'm going to try and embrace it a little more. So, I guess, that's everything.

Wait no one last thing - If my mom ever comes here please don't tell her about any of this! Okay now I'm done.

Um, well, sure, but... didn't you wanna see the Panda?

[ He gives her a surprised look, as if her words were clicking in his head and he realizes his big mistake. He completely forgot about seeing her go big cute panda! ]

Panda!!! That's right! Yes, please show me!

All right... here I go.

[ She presses her hands together, eyes closed. Then...

POOF! In a flurry of pink red smoke and sparkles... there, looming over Yasusda, is a giant red panda. ]

... Um. Hi. Again.

[ His eyes slowly draw up to her face, eyes widening like he just saw the most craziest thing he's ever seen. Granted... he hasn't ever seen a red panda in person, nevermind one this big.

But after staring for so long his eyes almost start to sparkle. ]

YOU'RE SO FLUFFY!

[ The voice coming out of the panda is still definitely Mei, who sounds a little embarrassed by the shout. ]

Um, uh, yeah, I am. The fur kind of makes me a little smelly, though.

Haha! Compared to living with a bunch of sweaty guys and smelly horses, you smell like a bouquet of roses, Mei!

... Thanks? I think?

[ She's going to assume that's a compliment, anyway? ]

S-sorry, I think that came out wrong ahaha! What I meant to say was, even if you think you're smelly you'll smell just fine to me.

Well, anyway... Now that it's out in the open... do you have any questions, or whatever?

[ She may as well get all of that out of the way, awkwardly shifting from foot to foot - or, well, paw to pat in this case. ]

Mmmm, nope...! Not really anyway. It's not that I didn't believe you, I just really wanted to see what a giant red panda would look like. But now that I've seen how cute it was, you can go back to whatever form you find most comfortable, Miss Mei.

... Really? That's it? You... you're not gunna ask a bajillion questions or poke and prod?

[ She'd apparently been expecting things to go so much worse! ]

You were already brave enough to tell everyone in the first place. Plus you even showed me this lovely side of yourself. Asking you for more would be a little mean I think.

...

[ She smiles a bit, not saying anything for the moment. Suddenly, there's another POOF, with the same amount of smoke - and there stands regular Mei once more, still smiling from ear to ear. ]

Why do I keep forgetting that everyone here is so amazingly, awesomely nice?

[ he claps when Mei turns back into her normal human self. Almost as if it were a magic trick he was pulling off! ]

As fun as it is, what kind of person would I be if I bullied questions out of you?

I dunno, it just felt like... expected, I guess? Since it's a really weird part of me? When it first started happening, I was trying so hard to hide it, and mom warned me so much about the secret getting out...

It doesn't seem that weird to me... then again I'm not exactly normal myself. So maybe that's why?

... Really? You seem perfectly normal to me.

[ Sure, he dresses like he's from olden-times... but maybe he IS from olden times! ]

[ Since she was kind enough to share her secret... ]

Well, I wasn't originally a human.

[ record needle scratch. ]

... "Originally"?

Hehe~ I thought that might be the reaction I got. It's true though, I was given this form by someone, but originally I was a loyal sword.

...

[ And the continued reaction is... probably not what he expected. ]

Oh, another sword dude!

[ Oh, if she had a nickel for every time she made a new friend with a cute boy that turned out to be a sword given human form, she'd have two nickels, but it's weird that it happened twice. ]

I totally got you, we're good!

[ Another sword dude— ]

Oh! You must have met Kiyomitsu! We were owned by the same master in the past so we've become pretty close friends.

Well, we didn't "meet" so much as talk over the journals, but yeah! They gave me the run-down... it's still kind of confusing, but also kind of awesome?
