ok so i know a few of you know but leos building a ship so we can explore the ocean
i guess i want to know how many people are going
and if youre going i need you to tell me this-
can you fight
how can you fight

no novels or anything i dont want to pry i just gotta know
nonfighters are ok too
but if we run into something out there i just want to know how many people are actually able

second thing
im not an amazing teacher but if you want to go id rather us train for it
ill be at the same spot every day if you want to spar or train
if you want to learn something ill try to help whether you want to go or not

[It actually pained him to waste the little bit of celestial bronze that he had like this, but Leo had thought about what Percy had said and....yeah. He needed to learn how to fight. More than just whacking things with a hammer. BUT!!! It did turn out pretty cool as hell, if he does say so himself.]

[no he will not elaborate and no he will not answer again cause he's actually going to head that way. Look at him, actually coming when Percy tells him to. Character development!

Eventually he shows up at the beach, Festus trailing behind (as if he would go anywhere without him), and a nice shiny celestial bronze sword in his hand.

What a beautiful day to get his ass handed to him!]

Percy's actually impressed when Leo shows up without a fight. he thought he might have to bodily drag him out again like he had last time, but maybe Leo realized he might like it a little bit.

at least it helped Percy clear his head, sometimes.]

Well this is a nice change. I didn't even have to argue with you.

[Leo doubts he's going to enjoy any of this, getting beat up is not his idea of a good time, buuuuuut, Percy's probably right, he does need to be able to defend himself a little better. A hammer and a sense of humor could only get him out of so many fights.]

Yeah, yeah, well after you dragged me out here last time, I figured I'd save myself the humiliation and you the effort. Also wanted to show off this bad boy! [Leo waves his new sword in the air, before holding it out for Percy to look at. It's not quite as long as Riptide, but it's the in the same Greek style. The hilt, however, has the profile design of Festus. He worked very hard on it, too!]

Cool, right! And check this out! [Since weapons could shift forms back home, he was working on a little something to do that too, he's just missing out on a little god magic, but he had dreamotion on his side! He hit a little switch in the hilt, and watched at the sword shrunk into.....a toothpick.]

Chingao! It's supposed to be a hammer now. Like I said, still working on the kinks.

[Percy grins at the demonstration.]

Hey, not bad. Will it come back to you if you lose it?

[otherwise the toothpick bit might make things a little more difficult.

but at least he's trying and knows that Percy's as stubborn as demigods can get, so they are making progress.]

Or are you still working on that too?

[no judgment either way, he thinks it's cool.]

-- Yeah. Still working on it. Dad's not answering so it's a little hard to do the real fancy stuff. And I'm not exactly good with dreamotion yet, as you can see.

[He pushes the button and it does shift back into a sword, though.]

I'm thinking maybe something magnetic? A kinda Mjolnir thing? [With his empty hand he pretends to throw it and then catch it, as if it came back.]

I'll figure it out. But I'm more of a hammer guy, so if I can get it to actually switch to Hammer Time, it'll be nice when I don't want to be all Stabby Stabby.

I wouldn't hold your breath for an answer anytime soon.

well, he could be stuck here with worse people. especially since Leo's pretty cool, sometimes.

Oh, yeah. I don't really know how strong of a magnet you'd need for something like that... [he's not the builder here.] Or if you could just do that with dreamotion, too.

Yeah, I figured as much. I mean, they weren't exactly listening back home anyway, so it's not much different.

[Though a few of their parents to sneak around Zeus' rules and help them a little, but still. It was pretty much a no-go with reaching out to their parents at home too.]

I'll play around with it. I need to focus more on building the ship, but if I get more of those little boobies soon, I'm going to see if the well will give me Buford the Wonder Table. That'll increase productivity exponentially, and give me more time to tinker with this.

[Percy slaps his forehead.]

Anyway, here. Give it a spin. You know what you're doing better than I do.

[AT LEAST WITH SWORDS!! LEO DOES NOT LIKE THAT KIND OF COMBAT. But he's going to offer his new sword to Percy to try out first.]

[Percy takes the sword, and swings it around a little bit. it feels good in his hand, albeit slightly unbalanced since the weapon isn't specifically for him. he looks at the edges and everything and then hands it back to Leo after a few moments, nodding and grinning.]

Pretty cool! I'm guessing everything feels good and balanced to you?

[yep he's not even going to linger on that word and gets back to focusing on the sword at hand.]

Yep! I always used a hammer back home so this length feels better to me. I'm also not a six foot tall giant like some people, so having it shorter suits me.

[this is also a dig at Jason and Frank but Percy won't know that.]

[Percy laughs a little.]

Yeah, you are kinda short.

[he's not even that much taller--]

[he uncaps Riptide, letting it transform into a sword as he looks at Leo.]

I'm perfectly Leo-sized, thank you very much! [He makes a face at Percy. It was hard not to be jealous sometimes that Percy and Jason had all the good looks, and muscles, and height. But Calypso picked him, and that's all he needed to feel better about himself.]

No but I get the feeling you're going to make me do this anyway?

[Percy had been dragging him out here to train regularly for a little bit now, so he should be used to this, but Leo's also seen Percy at his strongest and that is a scary sight. If this were a real fight, it would be a no brainer, which once again had Leo glad that Percy was on his side.

All the same, he gets in the stances Percy had been teaching him, and held his sword out more confidently than he felt. Here we go-- ]
