hey so I got the typical(??) talk from the dream guys here now but

when they say we're dreaming -

do standard "dream rules" apply?? I don't see people flying all over the place, that's a dream thing for most people, right? idek I don't dream much

and what about that thing when people die in dreams? does that mean they wake up and go on with their normal lives?

Of course they didn't. A year and a half and they're no better than they were at the start.

Dreamotion is a force of magic in this world. It is generated using a combination of "dream energy" and "emotion energy." If that sounds like nonsense, it's because it is. However, it is also very real. Even if you have never used magic before, you will likely be able to learn to use dreamotion. But it's a fickle business and I couldn't begin to suggest how to go about learning it.

Magic is [ something she's way too familiar with ] a known phenomenon in my homeland. It is not common though.

Frankly, you've the right of it; dreamotion is a terrible mess. But you'll eventually find yourself in need of it.

I take it you are not "most people."

Dreamotion can be dangerous, but for the most part, it is fickle. What you wish it to do and what it actually does may be incongruous based on your current mood. Without control over your emotions, you will not have control over your dreamotion.

Was not the implication of your previous remark that you know that magic exists in your world, but most people do not?

Potentially, but the most likely outcome is that one not in control of their emotions simply cannot manifest dreamotion magic.

... yeah, I've seen some weird things like magic. just would get called crazy if I talked about what I've seen, so, habit.

that's actually pretty reassuring. I'd rather some out of control nutjob be harmless than unhinged and dangerous.

That sounds rather closed-minded, if you ask me.

We have thankfully few incidents with where residents abuse the power of dreamotion. The more combat-inclined in our community are capable of suppressing dangers and imprisoning them in the prison tree.

Closed-mindedness is the predisposition of men in your world? That sounds most unpleasant.

It is capable of imprisoning people within its root structure, but I know little more than that. It is located within the bogs, so I imagine the smell is part of the punishment.

huh. you probably got no idea how strong it is? if something can bust its way out?

A fair point. I suppose the same could be said of Hyrule.

I've not heard of anyone escaping it, so I expect brute strength alone wouldn't be enough. I suppose someone could always give it a try for themselves, just to be sure.
