how is it I know youre being sarcastic even threw writing??
Im used to people avoiding me. granted mostly because i remind them of death too much. this wasnt like that.
Leos annoying but hes really smart when it comes to machines and stuff. like the best there is from my world. 2nd only to his father.
no subject
The same way that I know spelling wasn't your best subject in primary school.
Is that really something you want to openly admit? Do I even want to know why you're associated with death? Not that I'm a superstitious person, not by any means.
Leo's not the only one that excels at electronics here, and I find it unlikely that his skills exceed mine.

Im dysixic and English is my 3rd language. bite me.
cant hide it. might as well be upfront about it. my father is Hades. Im sure you can do the math from that.
hes better. but if you wanna prove it you should help him build his boat.
no subject
Only 3rd?
Normally, I would go through the whole process of denouncing your claim and asking what mental institution you escaped from but I'm not feeling it right now, so let's just skip all that. Unless they did something to anger your father then I don't see the point in avoiding you.
If he's so much better, he can build it himself. He isn't, but I don't offer my services for free.

Im 14 give me time.
you wanna see my zombies?
death is a primal fear.
wow. weak.
no subject
Don't use your age as an excuse.
Now I'm starting to get the picture.
Unless those zombies are printed on card stock and are tournament legal in Duel Monsters I can't say I have any interest in them.
I'm sure he is.
no subject
your kinda a dick. but I like card games. So Im interested in that.
but the zombies are real.
hes probably stronger than you.
no subject
You aren't the first nor will you be the last person to say that to me. Really? What sort of card games have you played already?
The brain-eating variety?
That's speculation on your part. Without a real competition it's just going to be my opinion versus yours. Leo isn't even here to weigh in on it...

I played mythomagic in my world.
[And he then gives an explanation of Mythomagic, which was a mix of Magic the Gathering and Dungeons and Dragons, adding things like armor class and the use of figurines. It's all pretty complicated and from how messy his writing gets, it's easy to tell he's pretty into it still, despite how much he might say otherwise.]
so teach me yours and well see which is better.
I dunno why im even bothering to defend him. hes annoying and a made my sister cry when he died then came back to life.

It sounds like a combination of Duel Monsters, Capsule Monsters, and Monster World. So this might be right up your alley.
[
Which were all in part derived from Magic the Gathering and Dungeons and Dragons as well. At the prospect of potentially having found someone who would even entertain the notion of playing a card game.. Kaiba is a little invested himself. Even though, this kid wouldn't be on the same level and therefore not a challenge.sigh.]Duel Monsters is all about strategy, and taking control of the field so your opponent can't execute any moves himself. There are three types of cards; Monster, Spell, and Trap. There are subcategories within those three which add to the complexity. Both players start with 4000 life points each and your objective is to bring your opponent's life points down to 0.
[He could, and would.. go on about this all day]
He sounds like a jerk but let's focus on the game..
no subject
It sounds really cool. can you teach me?
[He'll never admit it, but he does miss playing mythomaniac, and the only other person he knows who plays it is scared of him. Granted, it's the guy dating his sister, so it's a justified fear.]
he def has his jerkish moments. so yeah. lets talk more.
no subject
Although a part of him was certain that giving someone lessons on how to play Duel Monsters would be tedious, repetitive, and likely irritating........... if he ever wanted to play the thing again then he was going to have to start popularizing it here.]
I can teach you, but it would be easier in person.
[That was something the two shared in common. Kaiba was dreading when his younger brother would get to that "dating" age.. and so help him he would defend Mokuba from every potential gold-digger that tried to ensnare him]
Where do you want to meet up?
no subject
dreambucks. I like their milkshakes.
no subject
I'll gather my cards and meet you there.
[Kaiba hoped he wouldn't regret this]
no subject
[Action]
Making his way there, Kaiba didn't make any additional detours. Hopefully he'd be able to secure a spot that would be most conducive for the task at hand]
no subject
When he saw a man carrying what looked like a card box, he walked over, a bit of a rainbow trailing after him because of the milkshake. He thought it was funny because it didn't go with his goth/punk attire at all.]
You must be Kaiba.
[Hope he doesn't mind Nico's wearing a sword at his hip, because Nico doesn't go anywhere without it.]
no subject
And you must be the .. son of Satan or whatever.
[Knowing darn well that it was Hades. Not Satan. Possibly backhanded commentary about the other's chosen attire. What a pair they made with an overabundance of black and one ostentatious white jacket. Motioning the other to follow him, Kaiba made his way over to the free table to stake his claim on it.]
So you said you've played a card game before, but.. you didn't mention what your skill level was. How good were at that game?
[As long as Nico doesn't have a problem with that Duel Disk on Kaiba's arm. He rarely goes anywhere without it either]
no subject
[He's pretty sure it wasn't a mistake, but hey, he can be rude too.]
I was good. I memorized all the rules within a month, and was beating people regurally almost as soon as I started. I haven't really had a chance to play much, but my sister's boyfriend plays, but he's not that great.
[Nico just thinks it's armor of somesort, so he doesn't mind it all. He sets his milkshake on the table and looks at Seto expentedly. He's excited, eager to learn. He missed Mythomagic. He missed playing against other people. But Mythomagic has a bitter taste to it too.
A new game might be good for him.]
no subject
Impressive to pick a game up that quickly... providing those opponents were not equally as new to the game.
[It sounded as if Nico might possess a natural talent for such activities. If so, then this meeting might not be a total waste. He waits until it looks like the other is settled before starting to dole out the basics.]
This initial lesson is admittedly going to be a bit dry, but bare with it.
[Extracting a card (Gyakutenno Megami) from his deck he flipped it face up on the table]
This is a normal monster card. The name of the monster is displayed prominently at the top. Beside the name is the monster's attribute. [He tapped the circle on the card that has the kanji for light in it, with the word written out in english above it] There are seven attributes in total which will come in to play more depending on what spells and traps you play.
Below that are a series of stars that determine the monster's level. A monster's level determines how many tributes are required to summon it. 1-4 Stars; need 0 tributes. 5-6; require 1. And above that requires 2. [Are you falling asleep yet..?]
no subject
I don't know. The place I learned it was a bit baffy due to the Lotus Eaters' magic.
[He looks at he card.]
So this card has a Light attribute and would require 1 tribute to summon them. They're a fairy, so I assume there are other types of monsters. Can I assume traps and spells affect monsters differently depending on their attribute, level, and monster type?
no subject
Lotus Eaters'..... right.
[Spoken like a man that had no idea what the other was talking about. At least Nico wasn't outright professing to be the best player ever. That kind of boasting was reserved for those with enough talent and skill to deserve it... like... you know.. Kaiba.
This man's bias knows no boundsHe raised an eyebrow as the questions posed were on point.]
That's right. All of what you said was... in fact. There are some general use spells and traps that will effect all types the same, but there are plenty that target one group or another.
[Next he flipped over a spell, and a trap to go over their basics at the same time. Nico didn't seem like he needed it to be delivered slower than it already was.]
This is a spell card as evidenced by the aqua/teal border and this is a trap. [ The crush card has the anime instructions on it ala: "Activate only when a DARK monster with 1000 or less ATK is destroyed by battle from your side of the field. Your opponent destroys all monsters with 1500 ATK or more on their side of the field and in their hand and Deck. (Damage calculation is applied normally.) Those monsters cannot be Special Summoned from the Graveyard. If this card is not in your Graveyard, negate this effect."] A spell can be played immediately on your turn, or if it's a Quick-Play spell it can be set and used later, even on your opponent's turn.
Traps must be set before they can be activated.
no subject
Set the trap then use it. Is it a two turn process? Are there counter traps or spells to counter them?
[He pulls out his book and begins to write the rules down.]
For these, can I assume you don't have to announce them, because otherwise what would be the point of calling them traps?
no subject
Nico you are like a rare unicorn]Mm. You can set it on your turn, then use it on your opponent's or beyond providing that you've met the cards specific activation conditions. There sure are ways to counter a trap.
[After leafing through the deck, Kaiba pulls out Seven Tools Of the Bandit.]
This trap actually is called a counter trap.. you can tell by the little icon at the top with the curved arrow. A plethora of effect monsters are able to interfere with the activation of traps as well. We haven't covered them yet but they aren't that dissimilar to normal monsters only they come with their own abilities you can utilize.
[Good, because you're going to need it.]
Don't announce what any of your facedown cards are until you use them, at which point you would flip them over and say what they are, or what they do.. if the other player needs a refresher or is unfamiliar with the card.
no subject
Yes he is]I see.
[Nico nodded, starting to see how the rules worked. At least he thinks so.]
I learn better hands-on. So let's play a game.
