Subject: Dreamotion Research Assistance Request
Many of you may already be aware of the ongoing effort to ensure that those who wish to remain in this world may do so. Eustace-san has suggested a logical first step: we need to better understand the nature of the connections between our present selves and our original worlds. While it appears that observing the connection directly is beyond their current instruments, the researchers at the Observatory are hopeful that progressing their understanding of dreamotion could prove helpful.
What we now need are volunteer dreamers who would not object to the study of their dreamwalking and dreamotion. For those willing, if you could reply here or contact myself or Eustace-san, it would be a considerable help. Of course those who have no intention of staying here permanently are also very welcome to assist. I believe learning more about this could be beneficial to all of us.
Finally, the tapirs have suggested that those who no longer exist in their original world may not be tethered to those worlds as tightly. From comparison to the magic of my own world, I believe volunteers with unusual circumstances such as these might be able to provide the researchers with additional clues. Those who have died in their own worlds, who otherwise experienced a separation from their physical bodies, or who may have complex connections as a result of something such as cloning could be particularly helpful. I understand that a number of these subjects may be sensitive. If you don't wish to discuss them in public, you are more than welcome to contact us privately, or to disclose this information only to the researchers themselves.
Thank you all for your time,
Baldr

I think I would regret it more than an ordinary dream. There may be value in those also. But the people I've met here are real, and these memories are precious to me as well.
[ For a number of reasons that would be entirely inappropriate to unload on a stranger, even if he were to make the communication private. There's a thoughtful pause before he continues. ]
Truthfully, I haven't decided whether I should stay or not. I have things I left unfinished in my own world that trouble me. But it isn't as if the "me" in Tir Na Nog has ceased working, or is waiting for me to return. If I lost all of these memories upon waking as well, it feels somewhat like allowing the self that exists here to die.

[ As he understands it. Which has been vexing, to him, this whole time. But talking with this stranger now, it puts another spin on things, that gives him pause, reconsidering his frustrations, perhaps... ]
I have a lot waiting for me when I wake up and leave this place. A lot of change. I don't know if that's why I've ended up here. Maybe we're here to work through our troubles in our dreams, before we awake and return to what was left unfinished.
[ That's been kind of his operating theory, privately, but in a different light — in a way that makes him feel rushed, impatient, disjointed... like he can hurry up the process if he wills it. Which, of course, he can't. He's met multiple people now who have been here for months — including his sister... Proof in itself there are no subconscious shortcuts, or else she would have found them. If this place really is meant to be some dream refinery, clearly the processing takes time. Indefinite time. Maybe it's not so crazy if some people see this like a respite... Maybe not everyone is as impatient as Zuko is. What a mind-blowing realization. ]

[ This is drifting rather personal -- at least for Baldr -- and it's occurred to him that a recent arrival might not yet know the journals have the option for privacy. ]
PRIVATE
[ Well, none of this should be surprising to Nuadha. But Baldr would rather avoid salting certain wounds. ]
But I agree. Like an ordinary dream, this place gives you the opportunity to consider your feelings and your experiences in a new light. Some of the magic here seems to encourage reflection on precisely that.
It may be a bit difficult to take in at first, but "a chance to live another life" is exactly correct, in my opinion. Our existence here is independent from our dreaming selves in our own world. However much we may think alike, though we share our own memories, these lives are their own entities. Perhaps it's easier for me to think that way because such magic is more common in my own world.

There is much magic I don't understand in my own world. This is far beyond my
imaginati—I guess it's not. It's my dream. [ Scratch that. ]But it's like nothing I've ever experienced. I've seen some truly miraculous things, but never magic like this. If the point of being here is to use dreamotion to resolve what's troubling the mind, however long it takes... then I need to do my best to learn how.
If it truly is our unresolved troubles disturbing our dreams this much, enough to bring us here, then our minds must really need the rest. So I'll try to use this respite to figure out whatever it is I'm supposed to figure out.
[ ...Welp, he almost made it there. A chance at living a whole other life, separate from all the troubles at home, troubles that are as distant as dreams themselves, now — merely memories here. A life independent in its own right to make whatever one will of it. He came so close to approaching the point — relax, pause, reflect — and still, his decision to "take a respite" somehow becomes diligently goal-oriented and utilitarian. Fun guy. ]

Perhaps the magic of your own world is another reason you've found yourself here. I've wondered at times if this place has need of all of us as well.
However... you said you've been going through a great deal in your waking life, yes? [ Or at least, most people don't use the word "destiny" so lightly. ] So perhaps what's needed here is simply for you to focus on something you've been neglecting. Relaxing, for example.

I suppose.
If our spiritual abilities really are of use to this place, though, then I'd say time is even more of the essence. Best to apply ourselves and learn as much as we can, before we wake up.
[ He imagines that can happen at random, if arriving here can, too... But he's hopeful there's some kind of subconscious trickety-trick that may allow him to gain insight, help the people here, and wake up soon. If he just works through his troubles diligently, pours his all into learning dreamotion, surely he'll speed up the process. Ahem. ]

We're asleep. That is relaxing. That's the most relaxed you can get.
PLEASE, THE PIKACHU
I'm certain that if you take advantage of the opportunities as they present themselves, there's a great deal to be learned without rushing. I've found this place very helpful in that way.
[ The next pause is perhaps just a little troubled. ]
Is sleep truly the most relaxing activity you can think of?
🙃
[ ...Makes you wonder what he's like when he does... ]
I appreciate your insight on this place, though. Thank you. I hope in time this place will prove to be helpful to me, too, if I am here long. So far, not so much. But I'll have to take your word for it. It's definitely been a lot to think about.

It's no trouble. I've had some time to adjust to things myself, and a great deal of reason to do so. So if you have need of anything please don't hesitate to send me a note. And thank you again for volunteering, Zuko-san.

Since this correspondence is private.
If we are killed here, do we actually die? Or is it nothing more than a nightmare? And in that case, what becomes of this consciousness? Do we simply wake up?
I know I should hope it's never been put to the test, but still important information to have in mind, if you do know.
cw for murder / wisp things
The consequences are not as permanent as they would be in the waking world. But I'm sure you've noticed that our emotions affect this place heavily. And death has a way of provoking very intense emotions.
had a weird couple months, almost dropped the game, decided not to... happy to drop or continue this
That's rather sad. But I suppose better than the alternative.
Thank you for your insight. Here's hoping it's not useful information.
HONESTLY SAME sorry for the lag! also fine with a drop haha this has aged
[ Just as a precaution! ]
Of course, I'm glad to be of assistance. If you think of anything else you'd like to know, you're welcome to ask. Or drop by in person. I have very few duties to speak of, here.
HIGH FIVE we didn't quit the game lol o/*\o I'll be looking forward to our next thread, then! c:
[ He's more concerned about being murdered, but, y'know what, he's fine. His sister decided not to kill him last time she... tried to kill him. So— Ahem. So far so good. ]
Appreciated. I am sure we'll be in touch.
