Many of you may already be aware of the ongoing effort to ensure that those who wish to remain in this world may do so. Eustace-san has suggested a logical first step: we need to better understand the nature of the connections between our present selves and our original worlds. While it appears that observing the connection directly is beyond their current instruments, the researchers at the Observatory are hopeful that progressing their understanding of dreamotion could prove helpful.

What we now need are volunteer dreamers who would not object to the study of their dreamwalking and dreamotion. For those willing, if you could reply here or contact myself or Eustace-san, it would be a considerable help. Of course those who have no intention of staying here permanently are also very welcome to assist. I believe learning more about this could be beneficial to all of us.

Finally, the tapirs have suggested that those who no longer exist in their original world may not be tethered to those worlds as tightly. From comparison to the magic of my own world, I believe volunteers with unusual circumstances such as these might be able to provide the researchers with additional clues. Those who have died in their own worlds, who otherwise experienced a separation from their physical bodies, or who may have complex connections as a result of something such as cloning could be particularly helpful. I understand that a number of these subjects may be sensitive. If you don't wish to discuss them in public, you are more than welcome to contact us privately, or to disclose this information only to the researchers themselves.

Golly, little old me would surely like to learn more about dreamotion. Do you have any need for people that can't experience any form of emotions or compassion? Maybe understanding dreamotion will help me form my own versions of those.

Oh, and before I forget, I've had lots of experience with death. I'm also not in my original body, either, and I have no SOUL.

It turned to dust and fell on a pile of buttercups. I am now one of those buttercups. I used to be a monster before I died for the first time, and monster bodies turn to fust when they die. There's a ritual monsters use, rubbing their dust on the dead persons' favorite objects in order to infuse them with their essence.

I had originally died on the bed of flowers.

I think we have a number of very unique circumstances, so every bit of information would be helpful. I'd appreciate anything you're willing to share.

I see. But you don't consider your continued consciousness — your essence, I suppose? — the same thing as a soul?

[ It sounds like animus particles to him, upsettingly so. But different worlds certainly have different mechanics.]

I do not. When I died, my SOUL shattered. Monsters are made of magic, so none of our SOULs last that long after death if they last at all. Not like you humans, that have SOULs that can linger seemingly forever.

In my own world, I believe even human souls would ordinarily disperse into nothingness after death. But that seems to be uncommon. I'm sorry to hear of your death, in either case.

Oh, don't worry! I was kidnapped before I arrived here and had my essence modified so I never have to worry about dying permanently anymore! The body I inhabit now will always regenerate, so I'm effectively immortal now.

But anyway, if there's a way this research can give me a different insight to dreamotion, I'll gladly participate! Where should little old me go and when?

[ Although Zelda wants to help out (more on the research side than being a research subject, tbh), she can barely do dreamotion reliably, so she probably wouldn't make a very good research subject.

But unusual circumstances... She does have one of those. ]

I believe I might be someone you would consider to have an "unusual circumstance," but it is not like any of the examples you listed.

Well I've read looots of books before to help with research, and have been able to control my dreamotion, too!

I even have my own personal journal that I take notes about all sorts of things, so studying is something I'm very good at!

Sure.

Dream worlds and dream walking aren't new concepts for the people from my waking world. If the dreamer is powerful enough, their actions within the dream can affect the waking world as well. This can cause distortions in reality, or it can drag others into it without them even knowing.

Pretty much what I'm saying is that the connection between dream and waking reality is much stronger than most in the world I'm from, and these connections can act as conduits or pathways between them.

So you're organized, and you have a keen attention to detail as well as self-control. That's very admirable. I'm sure the dreamotion control will be useful to the researchers as well, but you could be of great help keeping the information we collect accessible to everyone.

As for the study, the location will be the Dream Observatory with the telescope. I'll speak to the researchers and contact you about a time, but you're welcome to drop by yourself.

I can't say how much my waking world was affected, or if was even affected at all, but I have been able to channel energy from my world into this one, yes.
