Optional Action/Log: The Wishing Well

[ Encounter one (1) local phantom named Somnus standing near the Wishing Well within the town, peering over its worn edge. As many might already know, one may cast a bauble into the well and receive something in return. Perhaps he's here to do just that? Or, perhaps, he's here to observe. The well is rather mysterious in nature, after all. Where else does someone drop a plain round sphere, imbued with a wish, and receive a facsimile of an item from one's homeworld in return?

Regardless of his actual intentions, his expression appears as grim as ever. Fitting, for a dead person. ]

Javelin Throwing

[ Somewhere at the border of the town and the wildlands, catch him practicing tossing javelins. It seems he may be doing it as some form of exercise. That, or a distraction. ]

Hail, Maiden.

[ A nod, then a slight lift of his chin as his focus shifts to the... animal? Floating next to her. A brow arches delicately, and, perhaps distracted by the creature, he appears slightly less troubled, if only for a moment. ]

Have you used this wishing well?

[ The plump pink creature stares back at him with beady eyes. It floats casually next to Alisaie, but doesn't do much more than that. Alisaie does notice that he's seen her companion. ]

This is-- Angelo. I've been using him to experiment with dreamotion. Moreso-- seeing if there is a possibility for him to contain dreamotion.

[ It's not all that detailed yet, but she's not made much progress yet. Needless to say, she's been trying to feed the creature her dreamotion energy. ]

Aye. Is it your first time using the wishing well?

That earns another look at the floating creature, and he appears to be about to ask how. But then she asks after him, and he shakes his head. ] Never, although I've heard of others using it. [ A pause. ] Is this creature from your homeworld?

[ Alisaie can't say that she knows the answer to that question without making it seem more confusing.

She had worked day and night to work on a way to balance the aether flow in those afflicted by the light with her friends and companion. Gathering materials and resources for him was not an easy feat. She used this method to help those who were tempered back in her own world as well. The theory remains is how she can have him maintain dreamotion. ]

I heard about others using it before as well. I tried it myself more recently.

[ a small pause from her ]

Aye. He is capable of maintaining aether in my world. However, dreamtion isn't exactly the same so I'm in quite a bind.

[ It seems that she's not completely certain of the creature's abilities and how they may translate to this realm. Granted, none truly know how, but therein lies value in investigating. ]

Have you noticed that you have dreamt less while he is in your presence?

[ Alisaie may be more familiar with applying dreamotion in substitution for aether, but that's not going to help her understand how Angelo works at the moment. She's still trying to figure out what he can and can't do. To be honest, she hasn't really noticed a change, but she has been giving the porxie of her own dreamotion energy from time to time since she got him. ]

I haven't really noticed anything significantly different from my usual. Mayhap, I should be a bit more attentive to that.

Her answer, though, doesn't appear to assuage his concerns. Somnus turns his head from her, looking to the well. ]

What makes this creature capable of containing... dreamotion? Or the magic of your world?

[ Alisaie thinks for a moment. She remembers the conversation she had during her time in the First. While her piece of art wasn't particularly tasteful, her determination invoked Angelo's existence. ]

It is familiar invoked with a special incantation. Angelo's ability is to store aether and release in the rebalancing of aether flow. The concept of dreamotion is the same when faced with nightmare energy. It's only a theory, however.

A familiar... [ He repeats, going quiet for a moment.

A familiar is a living being, and one he suspects the owner would have quite the connection to. He is doubtful that proposing using any random living creature to regulate dreamotion for everyone else in this realm would be a sound suggestion, however. ]

I am not sure everyone is capable of employing familiars to help regulate their dreams. But I thank you for your information.

[ That's quite true. Though, it's not quite the idea Alisaie has. She understands it's not something that can be easily done, and thus has been trying to find a different solution for her familiar friend. ]

Certainly not. You are right about that. I am not thinking of proposing such an idea. There are other options I've been looking into. I haven't quite got the answer I need.
