Greetings fellow dreamwalkers,

My name is G'raha Tia and I have recently arrived here. [In a dream world? Close enough.] Having spent some time learning the lay of the land and what Reverein has to offer, I have noticed the lack of aetherytes in the area. I am well aware that this is not at all the same world that I am familiar with, but I would like to provide my assistance in making life here a little bit easier if it is possible.

Where I come from, we have crystals that act as a means for teleportation and faster travel.

[They also take more aether than most can afford to use actively, but that wasn't important here. Taking a moment to try to imprint what they generally look like, this image will pop up for people to reference from.]

Normally in order to use these, you need to attune to them with your aether, though I doubt the same will work here. Once attuned to them, you'll be able to use them as a means to travel around the town.

I confess that I am not used to having downtime, so it is my proposition that I can spend my newly found free time to aid any other people who come here as well. I have recently found out that my dreamotion is crystal based and though I have not experimented enough with it just yet, I believe I may be able to recreate these aetherytes. There will be some trial and error and I cannot say how long it will take, but in order for these to work properly here, I imagine I will have to experiment with using dreamotion as a substitute for aether.

That said... I wanted to ask for any information people may have that may assist me in my research to make this a reality soon enough. I do not know enough about Reverein just yet to make any large strides presently.

I think it's fair to say we're all still learning about Reverein and the surrounding area. I've been here a little over two months and I'm still learning every day, so unfortunately I doubt I have any information you would find groundbreaking.

However, I am skilled in magic and I like the idea of creating a fast travel network as it sounds incredibly convenient. If I'm understanding what you mean, the place I come from has a similar network that can transport someone between worlds -- with permission. What you're looking to create is like that, but on a smaller scale. Between locales, right?

I feel like I've gotten used to substituting the source of my magic with the dreamotion energy here, and I have an idea about how one might be able to attune themselves to the crystal. Even if I can't directly help create these crystals of yours, perhaps a second set of hands would help?

I can't tell you how much I needed that aetheryte network in a nightmare of a place like Limsa Lominsa!

One in Reverein sounds like a wonderful idea, but I wonder how aether and dreamotion energy measures up back to back. I've only accidentally made those flowers and melted those poor cakes thus far, after all.

At any rate, I'd like to help. I'm not much of a scholar, but I'm familiar with the networks and could likely improvise channeling aether using dreamotion, at least.

The prospect of not only meeting another person who is passionate about science and possibly helping them with their experiments is like a dream come true for Zelda. Growing up, she was often dissuaded from pursuing her love of science for the sake of performing her duties as a princess, but here in Songerein, there's no one to stop her anymore. ]

I'd like to hear a bit more about aether and aetherytes, if you wouldn't mind. Those terms are foreign to me, both from my homeland and in this world, but I believe I can still be of assistance once I understand them.

Any information would be beneficial, whether it's related to my research or just information that I should be aware of.

That is correct. There are larger aetherytes that allow you to travel to locations further away, but I don't think that would be plausible for me to recreate at this moment.

[He recalls the aether that was required of him to make the soul vessels and imbuing proxies. Surely creating a fast travel system would require just as much -- if not more -- aether those have. In their case, dreamotion energy.]

[As much as he loves the Crystarium, the city had grown exponentially beyond his expectations. Saying it was a big place felt like an understatement.]

That is my question as well. In order to really get a good grasp on the comparisons between aether and dreamotion energy, there are tests that will have to be run. With so few of us here from home, aether will not be a viable source of energy. I would appreciate your assistance on the matter.

I still need to practice dreamotion to comprehend its uses and how to properly use it. I think these things will be the first vital step to moving forward.

Judging by that time frame, would it be safe to say that everyone is relatively new here as well?

'Tis no trouble at all. I believe that it is more than likely an Eorzea thing, so I doubt it is something that many would be familiar with here. Aether is an energy source that flows within our bodies. It allows us to use various magicks.

[Unless your Garlean anyway.]

Aetherytes are set up among various locations back home, making travel faster and easier, but much like magick, they require aether to be used. Though they don't take a lot of aether, most people can't afford to use them excessively back home unless you have an abundance of it at your disposal. It's handy nonetheless.

With aether not being a thing here, dreamotion will likely have to act as a substitute somehow. Mayhap given enough time put into it, I could even limit how much will be necessary to minimal amounts.

Of course. The dollhouse was a happy accident in dreamotion, wasn't it? I wonder if the same thing would happen outside of a dreamscape... might need testing.

Ah, but if you have excess free time, my Wildlands expedition was rather fruitful. Whenever did you want your treat?

I imagine an undertaking of this nature will take a great deal of time and effort, but the same could easily be said for most goals worth chasing. Even those who arrived before us seem to be fairly new to Reverein, but if I can be of any assistance, I should very much like to lend you my aid in this venture.

Quite the task to take up if you ask me. I know I wouldn't be talking about projects without first knowing if it's even possible.

Whether or not it's possible, there's no knowing until you give it a shot. Many things thought to be impossible have been made possible given enough hard work and inspiration. If it has even the slightest chance of success, I will find a way to make it a reality.

There are many things about Eorzea that Reverein is not familiar with. Simply being a Miqo'te is weird enough for most people I've spoken to thus far. It would be better not to stir the pot more than necessary.

I will count such strides as important information nonetheless when that time comes. Do you mind explaining how you would normally teleport?

Your point? Right now I think the fact you have cat ears and tail isn't something that should turn heads. Honestly it shouldn't be as weird as stickers that give you animal features or dreams and nightmares becoming that reality.

[ Of course Vanitas knows... A lot about Eorzea itself. Oops? That's what he gets for living with an Ishgardian, Ascian, and Miqo'te. ]

That's still a simple way of putting it without using your own world's unique terminology. Then again, what should I expect?

As for me? I can open up the pathways between worlds or locations within the same world. Not a true means of teleportation, but close enough. It is instantaneous.

They are pathways forged out of Darkness itself. So a person with a heart - or soul - would need to have a particularly strong alignment to Darkness itself form a door.

[ But for Vanitas who is a being of pure Darkness - it's 2nd nature much like it is for Unversed, Heartless, and Nobodies. ]

[It seemed familiar to how Ascians got around. The comment about the soul could have just been thrown in there as a random statement, but he's assuming it's anything but random.]

And the origin of such Darkness?

[Hinting more towards a world in between, but he only has his own experiences for reference here.]

You are but that's not really your fault. That's how this sort of world and time jumping works. Your memories aren't really guaranteed, if you're even the same person at all.

[ He should have expected that. Mr. Crystal Meddler is the sort of guy that will address it and probably feel guilty. And it's not like Vanitas really wants duty or obligation. So there's that too.

And he's right. The mention of the soul isn't random. Vanitas has figured they are more or less the same thing. Just different terminology. But yeah it's pretty much how Ascians get around. Vanitas hadn't wanted to come out and say that. ]

The Darkness that has always existed. Where there is Light, there will always be Darkness. They are two sides to the same coin.
