Greetings fellow dreamwalkers,

My name is G'raha Tia and I have recently arrived here. [In a dream world? Close enough.] Having spent some time learning the lay of the land and what Reverein has to offer, I have noticed the lack of aetherytes in the area. I am well aware that this is not at all the same world that I am familiar with, but I would like to provide my assistance in making life here a little bit easier if it is possible.

Where I come from, we have crystals that act as a means for teleportation and faster travel.

[They also take more aether than most can afford to use actively, but that wasn't important here. Taking a moment to try to imprint what they generally look like, this image will pop up for people to reference from.]

Normally in order to use these, you need to attune to them with your aether, though I doubt the same will work here. Once attuned to them, you'll be able to use them as a means to travel around the town.

I confess that I am not used to having downtime, so it is my proposition that I can spend my newly found free time to aid any other people who come here as well. I have recently found out that my dreamotion is crystal based and though I have not experimented enough with it just yet, I believe I may be able to recreate these aetherytes. There will be some trial and error and I cannot say how long it will take, but in order for these to work properly here, I imagine I will have to experiment with using dreamotion as a substitute for aether.

That said... I wanted to ask for any information people may have that may assist me in my research to make this a reality soon enough. I do not know enough about Reverein just yet to make any large strides presently.

I think it's fair to say we're all still learning about Reverein and the surrounding area. I've been here a little over two months and I'm still learning every day, so unfortunately I doubt I have any information you would find groundbreaking.

However, I am skilled in magic and I like the idea of creating a fast travel network as it sounds incredibly convenient. If I'm understanding what you mean, the place I come from has a similar network that can transport someone between worlds -- with permission. What you're looking to create is like that, but on a smaller scale. Between locales, right?

I feel like I've gotten used to substituting the source of my magic with the dreamotion energy here, and I have an idea about how one might be able to attune themselves to the crystal. Even if I can't directly help create these crystals of yours, perhaps a second set of hands would help?

That is correct. There are larger aetherytes that allow you to travel to locations further away, but I don't think that would be plausible for me to recreate at this moment.

[He recalls the aether that was required of him to make the soul vessels and imbuing proxies. Surely creating a fast travel system would require just as much -- if not more -- aether those have. In their case, dreamotion energy.]

One in Reverein sounds like a wonderful idea, but I wonder how aether and dreamotion energy measures up back to back. I've only accidentally made those flowers and melted those poor cakes thus far, after all.

At any rate, I'd like to help. I'm not much of a scholar, but I'm familiar with the networks and could likely improvise channeling aether using dreamotion, at least.

That is my question as well. In order to really get a good grasp on the comparisons between aether and dreamotion energy, there are tests that will have to be run. With so few of us here from home, aether will not be a viable source of energy. I would appreciate your assistance on the matter.

I still need to practice dreamotion to comprehend its uses and how to properly use it. I think these things will be the first vital step to moving forward.

[ "Happy" is definitely an understatement. The prospect of not only meeting another person who is passionate about science and possibly helping them with their experiments is like a dream come true for Zelda. Growing up, she was often dissuaded from pursuing her love of science for the sake of performing her duties as a princess, but here in Songerein, there's no one to stop her anymore. ]

I'd like to hear a bit more about aether and aetherytes, if you wouldn't mind. Those terms are foreign to me, both from my homeland and in this world, but I believe I can still be of assistance once I understand them.

Judging by that time frame, would it be safe to say that everyone is relatively new here as well?

'Tis no trouble at all. I believe that it is more than likely an Eorzea thing, so I doubt it is something that many would be familiar with here. Aether is an energy source that flows within our bodies. It allows us to use various magicks.

Aetherytes are set up among various locations back home, making travel faster and easier, but much like magick, they require aether to be used. Though they don't take a lot of aether, most people can't afford to use them excessively back home unless you have an abundance of it at your disposal. It's handy nonetheless.

With aether not being a thing here, dreamotion will likely have to act as a substitute somehow. Mayhap given enough time put into it, I could even limit how much will be necessary to minimal amounts.

You are correct; myself and most of the other dreamwalkers arrived two months ago and seem to be the first such arrivals. Reverein was uninhabited then, excluding the fairies. Whatever people preceded us and built this town have been absent for some time.

Regarding aether, your description of it seems to match Songerein's dreamotion energy rather closely. I theorize that we, as dream-versions of our real selves, are comprised entirely of dreamotion energy, although some among our number are more capable of accessing and utilizing dreamotion than others. Based on your description, it sounds as though capability with aether is similar: people may be gifted with varying amounts and/or talents to utilize it.

I imagine an undertaking of this nature will take a great deal of time and effort, but the same could easily be said for most goals worth chasing. Even those who arrived before us seem to be fairly new to Reverein, but if I can be of any assistance, I should very much like to lend you my aid in this venture.

Learning more about this world we've found ourselves in is, of course, the first order of business, though admittedly far easier said than done. Still, I find myself intensely curious about how this place itself has come to be. The way I hear it, it was uninhabited until very recently.

Whether or not it's possible, there's no knowing until you give it a shot. Many things thought to be impossible have been made possible given enough hard work and inspiration. If it has even the slightest chance of success, I will find a way to make it a reality.

So, first, what's the 'aether' thing you're talking about, and second, how technical can you get? I can probably understand it if you explain it, and then I can help a lot better.

Aether is a life source that flows within us as well as the world around us. [And a pause.] At least, it would be back home. I'm sure it's not common in Reverein. It also allows me to use magick.

As far as the technicalities, there is a lot about Eorzea that could be too confusing in a single sitting. It would be best done in small amounts.

No, I get it. You probably use it for a lot more than just magic and whatever, right? Flows around everywhere? You gotta give me some credit, I can figure it out if you tell me.

That's a discussion I wouldn't miss, actually. It sounds pretty cool. Anyway, if you need help I can figure it out, or try. I'm sure since we're able to use the dreamotion stuff— all of us, I mean— we need to just figure out how to store it in something else, right?

Teleporting would be very convenient, but it sounds like it'll take a lot of research and effort. I only got here recently myself, but I'd love to help any way I can. As for ideas, have you looked up the actual physical crystals that can be mined in this world yet? Studying up on the natural catalysts already available here may help you understand the energy flow of this world better. The local gnomes may be able to help you too, they're the ones who first discovered the candy crystal mines.

[He's sure wasting no time getting into the details, maybe that's just natural to the researcher type? Still, a lot of people seem to have projects brewing right after arriving, and that's honestly kind of reassuring as far as Jude's concerned. Since they're all going to be living here for the foreseeable future, then it's only natural to want to improve on QOL, right? Dream selves or not, they're alive and conscious here, so they should do whatever they can.]

I have not looked into the crystals here just yet, but that would be wise to observe. There is much and more to learn about this world as well as any possibilities of fast travel here. There will have to be quite a bit of research and experimentation, but that is a promising lead.

Your logic is sound. I can confirm that substituting aether with dreamotion is a good avenue to explore. I normally have access to an energy source known as aeion, which I seemingly lost upon arrival. But I've since learned that I can substitute it with dreamotion, and achieve similar effects. I'm still learning more about this, so take my words lightly.

If you are able to substitute this aeion with dreamotion, the same should be theoretically possible with aether. Even so, I suppose we are still learning about what kind of place Reverein is. The more time spent here, the more answers will yield to us.

The concept sounds not unlike the transfer circles we utilize in my world, although they have more limited capabilities. Theoretically, my mirristry should be of assistance despite its weakened state here. If you plan to research this, then I'll lend my knowledge to this cause as well.
