I'm American myself, but that still doesn't mean I understand it. I assume it came along long after my time.
Regardless, doing something out of spite I can understand, but I fail to see why celebrating something you can't help is the aim. I'd understand if it was celebrating what they've actually accomplished in spite of the naysayers, but basically sitting around celebrating what they prefer to put between their legs doesn't seem like much to celebrate to me. Particularly given I've no interest in sex to begin with.
But if that's what they choose to do with their time and energy, that's their business. I'll simply mind my own and avoid the festivities given I've no interest in sex as a whole. I do appreciate the attempt to properly explain it. It was certainly more helpful than most.
