Subject: Successful Use of Baubles to Return Home

For those who may not have noticed, recently the baubles used for the Wishing can be used to return to our home worlds and still be able to return. It was a risk, but given the prospect of this for the ongoing research of staying in this world permanently, I tried it myself.

It works.

I departed on the first of the month and according to Tifa, returned after three days here. As before, the time passed in my world was several months and as expected, I still did not retain any memories of my time in Songerein while in my world.

I had the researchers at the Observatory study the dreamotion energy during this process to see if they can learn more about our connection between this world and our world. If there are any who wish to try or plan to return to their home world through the use of the baubles, I would like to request if they could study your trip as well.

It does appear that the more common "random connections" is still occurring. Regardless, I hope this message eases some concerns others might have in wanting to temporarily revisit their world on their own will.

That is good to know, I'll be sure to take a closer look on the notes later. Not that there's a lot of possessions from my world that I would wish to retrive, but you never know when that may change as time goes by.

Getting too attached to possessions is a dangerous thing, especially in troubled times. It makes it easier when you inevitably have to leave it behind one day.

Well... there is one thing that has been gnawing at my mind a bit. I'm not really used to having so much free time on my hands and I am wondering what to do with myself? Is there anything I can do to make myself useful around here?

[He's not sure he likes having this much time alone with his thoughts.]

What kind of skills do you have?

I am a skilled fighter, but from what I've seen yet there doesn't seem to be much need for those around. I am also well versed in politics and diplomacy. I used to be a fair hand at smithing, even if I didn't much care for it, but being one hand short I'm not much use in a forge anymore. I can cook and bake and I have also spent some time as a tutor for my younger brothers and cousins in linguistics, mathematics, history and etiquette.

That's quite the resume.

But there are a number of businesses here in town that could use your skills. This is the only populated town, so any resources needed must be gathered on our own. Thus your fighting prowess would be useful for those who need certain materials or hunts found out in the Wildlands and beyond. There are also occasions where more hostile creatures tread close to the town or causing trouble for other hunters and those who travel out, so dispatching them is needed.

We have a couple of forges, so if that interests you may find ways to serve as their assistant or help, even if it's not forging itself.

Unfortunately we don't have much need for the rest, and we have no schools or other education facilities here. However there may be those who would like to continue their education here. If you're interested in research, you could consider visiting the Observatory or the dragons for your own studies.

Otherwise, my next question would be if there was ever anything you were interested in trying.

I've lived for quite a long time, one tends to pick up the odd skill along the way.

It is good to know I won't be completely useless here, then. If there comes a threat my blade is at the peoples disposal and I do not mind being on guard duty for those that wish to venture outside to gather what they need.

Dragons? I hope they are much different from the ones in my own world...

I... I don't really know? It's been a long time since I've had any time to think of what I might wish to do rather than what must be done.

I'm not sure how the dragons are in yours, but they are friendly here. For the most part.

But you can take this opportunity to find something new.

Not something you'd wish to come face to face with mostly. Friendly dragons... it is hard for me to imagine such a thing, in truth.

[Inconcievable, almost. But since nothing here seems to be on fire or poisoned he might just have to accept that it is the truth. No dragon he'd ever heard of would show enough restraint to keep them from burning the whole world down.]

I can understand your confusion. The dragons here are also capable of taking a more human form, and they have different groups and cultures within their own kind. They reside up on the floating island that you may sometimes see drifting nearby, and there are a variety of different means to get up there without much issue. They also have a spa resort that is open to anyone.

Confusing, yes, but not entirely in a bad way. For even though friendly dragons is a strange concept to me it is a much preferable one than the reality of the dragons in my own world. I can't say I'll be in any hurry to visit them myself, but it is good to know I probably don't need to worry about them comming to burn and eat us all.

We only need to worry about that if their treasure or eggs are stolen again.

...Alright, now I've got to ask what sort of genius thought it was a smart idea to steal anything from a dragon?

Leprechauns.

A small race of mostly male fae who seem to have a greed to rival a dragon's. However there are different groups and not all of them were part of that particular plot.

In any case, these leprechauns stole from the dragons and used that treasure to fund their own endeavors. Whether the dragon eggs found in town were also part of that theft I do not know, but it didn't help matters.

Hmm. I'm glad we had no such creatures in my world, the dragons were hard enough to deal with as it were without anyone running around stealing their ill-gotten treasures from them.

No, I can't imagine it did. I have yet to meet a being that did not take extreme offence at having their young taken from them.

Just be wary. There are many different kinds of fae that live here. Most are friendly, but quite a number are mischievous.

I thank you for the warning, I am usualy wary by nature so it shouldn't be too difficult.
