Ah, hello! You'll have to forgive me if this is a little rough, I'm afraid I'm still a bit new to all this.

So, I've been here about a month now, and I couldn't help but notice how the base technology here far differs from that of my home in Tyria...or parts of it, anyway. That being said, I've also noticed bits and pieces here and there that seem to have completely different origins. Since nigh everyone here comes from somewhere else, and curiosity blooms better when fed, I figured I'd go ahead and ask anyone willing to share.

What is the mechanics and technology from your homes like? Your transportation, or magitech, or even your weapons. If you've any examples on hand, I'd love to see them for myself! I'd be willing to do the same, to make it a fair exchange.

Also, if anybody happens to know where you can get spare mechanical parts, I'd appreciate that as well. No pressure, of course!

Electricity...like electrical currents? That I can get. We do have cars, and combustion engines are familiar, although most of the ones we have are steam-powered or magical. But I'm going to assume a 'car' isn't a war machine where you're from?

None of those other things sound familiar to me, though.

Yeah, electrical current's like that, and cars aren't like that where I'm from. The only thing left that's really steam powered are trains but even then there's not very many left.

Cars are just methods of transportation, used on the daily. If you want war machines you need to look at tanks and stuff, I guess, but I don't know much about those.

Laptops and phones though! You can talk to, or text people, or use it to get GPS maps... I never go anywhere without my phone.

So they're just for...transportation? Interesting choice. Seems a bit less useful than carts, but I suppose it'd depend on the size and any alterations since they're fairly clunky in design...I can't say I've ever heard of a train, however.

So a communicator of some kind? That sounds pretty useful...

You gotta have some way to get around, cars are just the easiest. Trains are great, we have these high speed ones, the only problem is that you gotta have tracks for them to ride on.

Yeah, I guess calling them a communicator works. They're awesome, they do everything at this point. Make calls, search the internet, take pictures!

For long distances, we mainly just use Asura Gates. They're akin to portals, where you can travel from one city to the next, provided the gates are tuned and the network intact. For slightly less distances, however, we rely on carts and wagons. Tracks...like for mine carts? Those would be difficult to set up over long distances, especially with the hazards from wildlife.

Internet doesn't quite ring a bell, either. Or pictures. You'd normally need to paint those, wouldn't you?

Portals would be convenient as hell, but nothing like that around my place. That would sure make picking up groceries faster!

Do you not have any magic where you live? It's what fuels the Gates- a great pocket of magical energy that gets channeled to even allow intercontinental travel. It's not free, of course- the longer the distance and more cargo, the more expensive. A small price to pay.

Is it similar to holographic? We do have holograms, but something tells me that's not quite right.

And we have holograms but you're right, not quite the same. We look at photos on flat screens. Kind of like a painting, but the painting is powered by electricity?

Really? You don't have any, whatsoever? And your home is intact despite that?

Why wouldn't it be intact? As far as I know, we don't and have never had magic, you know?

Anyway, if you wanna see it, we can totally meet up sometime. Just name the time and place and I'm there. I don't need an excuse to get out of the house for a while.

True enough! I suppose I don't know quite enough about it to get into the schematics of it, anyway. Magitech, yes. Magic itself, not as much.

If you're willing, that sounds great! In exchange, I did end up bringing a few of my magitech creations with me, if you've like to see such a thing for yourself.
