I've kind of figured out... If they were doing it for selfish reasons, they probably wouldn't go far out their way.

First two questions' answers really depend on the person you wanna give the present to.

But clothing is a practical gift that can also be really personal. Get them something in their style or something that looks really good on them, and it's an A+ gift.

The last question is easy to answer: Futons are the best.

Answer 1) If you can't think of anything they like, why not give them something handmade? Like knitting a blanket or cooking them a meal? Effort says love!

Answer 2) I'd say a person's face gives away a lot when they did something. There's a big difference between a smirk and a smile!

Regarding your second question, sometimes you can't tell, if that person is truly skilled enough. Isn't that fun? It keeps people guessing.

But I suppose one hint is this: how is the other person benefiting from the situation. Of course, some people are just nice no matter what. I tend to believe that most aren't, however.

They can use it to store whatever other present they ever get or just as a decorative item. There's really no going wrong with a cage.
