Hello everyone! My name is Iris Wilson, and I thought it'd be quickest to introduce myself over these interesting journals. Wouldn't it be faster if we could use typewriters instead of pens, though? Has anyone tested that?

Anyway, I trust you're familiar with Mr Naruhodo? Or Miss Mikotoba and Inspector Lestrade? They are some of my dearest friends and family, so I wanted to thank you all for being here to support them! Oh, and Mr Asogi and Mr Reaper, too!

In addition, I understand that Herlock Sholmes was here prior to me? Honestly, he's normally so difficult to wake, too. But I also wanted to say that I hope you had a lovely time with him and that,

Nice to meet you, my name is Senku and I've been here awhile.

I think a typewriter to make is not a problem, but the problem you have then is getting it to work in conjunction with the journal, which is why it hasn't been done. Considering how our messages are transmitted and that's probably some type of magic, you'd have to know how it works exactly to make a typewriter that does exactly what you want.

Unfortunately I only know the mechanical part, the magic is a bit beyond me.

The magic really is the only obstacle, yes. I've been wondering if perhaps there's a way to make a typewriter that moves over the paper rather than threading that through the device, but I should probably build at least one functioning standard model first.

I'd love to hear any tips you have for constructing one or if you know where the parts might be available!

An interesting prospect. I have to think about it if such a thing could exist.

You could do something akin to a printing press, but you run into the problem that it takes a long time, compared to just writing in it.

Yes, and I doubt I'd be able to push one with enough strength. The printing presses they use for newspapers now would be faster, but you'd still have to write your message first and then run paper through it.

Has anyone pulled one of these apart?

I have no idea! It would be interesting to see what happens, but I'm not sure there's a replacement if we break it. A problem.

You can pull out the pages easily enough. I'll have to see if they can still be used to communicate when they're separate.

Fascinating. I suspect much of this is through dreamotion of course, because this place is completely foreign to me in that way but those are some very interesting data points.

Isn't it though? I'm from a science-based place, so having "magic" which isn't easily explained by that is unusual to me.

That's nice. Hurley's said that we're always observing and learning, though, so I don't see why you couldn't do a test or two on vacation.

You're not wrong, but I've been using my ice cream shop to experiment to scratch that itch.

It's an interesting world. It experienced an apocalypse and the fall of complete civilization but we've rebuilt it back up to a decent standard of living for the most part.

Really? It's not quite the same, but after war and plague, the people from my world spent hundreds of years in decline, but in the last few centuries we've been taking great strides forward. I think I can understand your world thinking about it like that. I'm very glad you've managed to survive!

It is. I enjoy cooking and preparing food because people enjoy eating it, and I can invent as many flavours as I like.

I'm glad to hear your world has been coming along. I don't think it's quantifiably possible to compare people's worlds in any event. They're all different.

That's something we have in common! People seem so much happier when there's food ready, don't you think? I really only experiment with herbal tea blends myself.

That they do. Food is a powerful motivator and incentive. A carrot, if you will. Everyone who knows me tends to get put to work at home so the least I can do is feed them.

True. This is my first time encountering other worlds, so to speak. I've met an alien entity, but I don't know much about where they came from. They didn't seem to know.

How true! I enjoy making it, but I'm not sure if I would have learnt so much already if Hurley were a better cook.

The aliens were parasites, so they had conquered many planets already and didn't understand how they kept ruining them. Fascinating blind spot for an AI.

No, definitely not clever. They were fulfilling their function, but beyond that...well. I'm undecided. They're smarter than they seem I think, but a huge blind spot.

Ah, sorry. Artificial intelligence. It's like machines that can learn and evolve on their own.
