Subject: That Wasn't A Joke

Sorry to those that knew Reaper and I were planning to get married soon, we got to talking and ended up eloping rather than having a public ceremony. It's official as of this morning though, as official as it can get in this place anyhow.

We're still going to be throwing an after party at The Wild Harvest, but we figure that will be better done tomorrow so we've got time to cook up food. Whoever shows up is also welcome to bring a dish or two themselves.

[Sorry about that one Tifa- and Eustace, too. Could face crowds for others, but something quieter for them felt more fitting.

Don't... don't mind the itty-bitty kitty paw prints slowly decorating the page, even as 76 wrote. He was currently at the Wild Harvest, sitting in his break room.]

Reason that banner is hung up there at the Wild Harvest- for those of you that noticed it and know what today is. Definitely not a joke. Reaper picked it out.

You're going to pour dreamotion into that pumpkin so it gets huge, right? Think of the sheer amount of pumpkin pies we could make?

[He turned his head and caught the roll of eyes. It made his smile. He rose from his seat and made his way over to door separating them. He leaned on the frame and continued to type.]

You know I like it when they scare, but I won't terrorize him. Maybe just say 'boo' once or twice. Do you have someone in mind, hmm?

I just might. Why not go all in on one for our first Halloween as a married couple? Also a load of pumpkin pies, and maybe some roasted pumpkin seeds.

[Gabe gon' Gabe—]

All I ask, since I know you won't stop outright once you know.

Not really, outside of asking Alastor for a favor to help out in the kitchen until we get some solid help hired.

You're ridiculous, but fine, I'll get on board so that we can have an amazing Halloween. Fine! The demands you make of me to be a 'not-evil person'. We should advertise and see what sucker walks in the door looking for work.

You say that, but I know that you are thrilled at the idea and the possibilities to come from it. Going to be something sitting out front in full display however we end up carving it.

We should, and make it clear what we're asking for; people to help with the cooking, and wait tables.

You can't prove that. Not until September at least. I think we're going to need a chainsaw to crave something of that magnitude. I get you, which is the best prize of all.

Yes, yes, I can put together an advertisement and post it. You concentrate on running the business.

Along with a huge bath of lemon juice with water to help keep it up once carved into- and maybe several dozen bundles of cinnamon sticks so it has a good scent when lit up.

We're going to be planting some lemon trees if that's the case. It sounds like you're turning our future mega pumpkin into a candle. What could be more romantic than kicking in the door and telling you we're dating? That was the high bar of my romantic skills. I'll let you read it before I post it.

We're going to have to look through that orchard and see just what they grow, too. Lemon trees are good to have, all sorts of ways to use the lemons and all.

Also wouldn't you rather a lit up carved pumpkin smell nice?

[Gabriel could at least see that amused smile falling back in place.]

They are very good to have, so we need at least one maybe two trees. I suppose I'm going to have to re-learn how to preserve all this stuff. Depending on the situation, fire isn't always my favourite but a flaming pumpkin? I will accept it.

[He was watching Jack between writing, admiring his husband.]

[He was giving way to desire and creeping in on Jack, closing the distance between them until he could rest his book on his lover.]

[Jack set his journal and pend aside for the moment, the pen marking his place were he had been responding to others—

A hand reached up, fingertips brushing along Gabriel's jaw and up along the side of his head just so he could soon curl fingers against the back of the other's head.]

Dramatic and foreboding as always, dear.

[He dropped his pen and book aside now that he had Jack's attention without having to read it. He slipped his arms around his husband and pulled Jack harder against his chest as he leaned his head down more into those questing fingers.

He added a kiss to Jack's cheek, lingering in that embrace.]

You would have me no other way, mi sol.

[Fingertip pressed against scalp and nails scratched in a sort of soothing way, Jack letting an amused huff escape him as his head tilted to brush a returned kiss against skin.]

Damn right.

[His hand lifted to stroke his fingers through Jack's short hair then planted another kiss.]

I see everyone is starting to come out of the wood work to talk to you.

[Jack tipped his head against those fingers, and actually allowed his eyes to close.

Relaxing that much more.]

Just a few. I take it you're reading over them, huh.

[He stepped in to cuddle Jack's back as much as possible. He didn't like to show it, but he was happy with this man. Jack brought out the best and worst in him.]

I'm getting around to it, yeah. Guess I need to insert myself more into your life now.

[Jack kept up that slow scritch along with the massaging of Gabriel's scalp, leaning in against him from that cuddling.]

What a grand excuse you have for it now, too.

[He made a humming noise in his throat, closing his eyes as he enjoyed the closeness. He nuzzled the side of Jack's head.]

I suppose. I want you to have friends and a life beyond me too. I don't want to insert myself in if you don't want me to.

I would like you to at least get to know them a little? If that makes sense, given how deeply you are a part of my life.

[Even before this- even if that wasn't always a good thing. Was happy now, they'd been working on things even while not ready to touch on others.

Jack nuzzled in turn.]

Fine. [He made a point of sounding exasperated by the effort already.] I hope you've warned most of them about me.

[He knew they wouldn't snuggle too long like this, but it was one of things that they did which he waited for each day. Little moments they long denied themselves for years and years.]

[There was that drag of finger pads along scalp, slow and meant to be soothing-]

Most of them are at the very least aware of you?

[Just a little teasing.]

[As his hair was currently only in a ponytail tied back, strands began to sneak forward to curl around Jack's arms and torso. He made no effort to stop the more advanced hug.]

So it won't be a surprise for them when I jump appear from the rafters and ambush them. Good.

[He was all for intimidating introductions.]

Just remember some may have some reflexive defense actions- which honestly probably makes that more entertaining for you, huh.

[Jack was going to indulge in this moment as long as they were able, honestly. Would have to tend to the food again soon, all the morning prep; feeding them both breakfast aswell.]

I do hope they put up a little fight; it's not as if I can stay dead.

[Soaking damage was half the fun at this point, though he also had the ability to simply fade to smoke for any attack. It was a great way to start on the wrong foot and have people questioning Jack's sanity for marrying someone like him.

He hugged Jack entirely with all of his being, lingering in that moment even if there were other people to reply to and other chores that needed doing. This would start the day off right.]
