Subject: Dream Recording

The dream seems simple enough. Two people, one of which is Serah, looking out over a city. It feels happy. Serah even says it: "It's the end of our journey."

They did it. They saved this world that they're looking out over now, with a large satellite hovering over the world as another one encased in crystal falls and shatters. Serah's thought can be heard now, though, as she gazes at the new world hanging in the sky above her:

"I can see her again. I can see Lightning, and Snow, and everyone. Noel can have a happy future now, he won't be alone anymore when we have to return to our own times. We can all be happy now."

But as if floating in an out of body experience, Serah seizes up, and a mark appears in both of her eyes. Images flash of a world between life and death, the sky behind the satellite that now hung in the sky turning dark.

A ringing bell. A death knell. The sound of those trying to outrun the chaos and their screams in the distance. Her world becoming a new one, but not in the way she expected.

Her sister and Snow fighting.

A final world ending in a burst of light and destruction.

A woman on a throne, crystalized. A female voice, speaking.

"I'll never forget. I promised you that. Even if I stand to lose everything, I'll preserve your memory for the tomorrows yet to be."

Serah's final thought, as the boy grabs her wrist and pulls her into a protective embrace as her final breath leaves her body, is simple.

"I have no regrets. None at all."

The last flash is Serah embracing the woman from before, bearing a striking resemblance to each other, and asking, pleading something almost heartbreaking:

"Don't forget me. Promise you'll remember me."

Serah's dream ends when she wakes, and only a choked back sob is audible as the last thing the tapirs have captured.

You've been through quite a lot, haven't you.

[Ah... gotta be strong, Serah. That's what you do, right? But Eizen isn't wrong.]

Yeah. You could say that.

[More than what she dreamed about, anyway. Becoming a l'Cie started it all, but dying... she'd take being a crystal again over that.]

And judging by the dream... you've had to stay strong for such a long time...

Ah... Sorry. I didn't mean to pry.

[ It's just, even though he doesn't remember her himself(right now), he still felt some kind of attachment to her. Maybe it was some kind of vibe she gave off. ]

[It takes her a bit to answer that— he's hit it on the head, but it's hard to just answer that. She had thought she would just sleep and stay with her sister, but then she woke up somewhere else after her final vision that had been shared here. It really hadn't given her much to rest from.]

If I didn't, it would have hurt too much.

[A simple answer, and one she would have given to the Eizen she'd known in Verens, so this Eizen was no different.]

It's all right. You can ask things, if you want. I know I'd have a lot of questions if I saw this sort of thing, too.

Well I do have one. Which tree house is yours?

[Oh... well, it's not what she was thinking, but she can at least mark it on a map for him.]

It's that one. If you see one suspended over some water, that's me.

[And when he gets there, it's probably not too hard to find.]

Got it. I'm on my way. Put some shoes on.

[ Apparently he's just inviting himself over, sorry Serah. ]

[Shoes? What?! Well at least she's decent with her pj's, but she'll... get shoes on and when he arrives, she'll peer out of her door.]

Should... I have a jacket too?

[ Instead, he just stands there holding out his own coat. ~~The cold never bothered him anyway~~ ]

I wasn't planning on taking you too far, but, it might get chilly...

[Oh... she takes his coat hesitantly, but pulls it around her shoulders all the same. Hope you don't mind if your jacket gets a little dirty since she's shorter than you, Eizen!]

Thanks. Where are we going?

[ If he cared about it getting a little dirty he wouldn't have offered it in the first place, Serah!!! ]

No destiny in mind. Just a walk. It's better to get some fresh air than lie back in bed and let your mind wander back into chaos.

[Eizen wasn't wrong. Even if she knew all of that was going to be stopped and her final vision wouldn't come to pass completely, it was still hard to see it, knowing what it ended with for her. So she nods and follows along beside him with a small smile.]

That sounds good, actually. Lead the way, big brother.

[The 'big brother' part is because she knows dang well he is one, but also... he was like an older sibling to her before, even if he doesn't remember. That's fine, it's jut nice not seeing his floating head and nothing else because his curse is weird.]

[ Ignore the tinge of pink on his cheeks. It's dark, she must be imagining it if she sees it...! He'll just click his tongue and start walking.]

This is like a dreamy land sort of place, right? So there's gotta be something near by that's nice and relaxing.

[She's totally imagining it!!! It's why she's smiling a bit more :)]

The water is always relaxing. We could go down to it from here, I think. Well, if you don't mind the water.

Water doesn't like me too much, but that's why I gotta annoy it further, right?

[ He flashes her a small grin. ]

Yeah, I guess so! Well, I don't think you can drown just by putting your feet in, if you feel inclined to do so. Even your bad luck wouldn't let that happen!

[At least... she's pretty sure.]

Honestly, that'd be a pretty impressive way to drown. I wouldn't even be mad at that point.

[Rokurou doesn't usually try to look into the dreams, but noticing it's Serah's he can't help but stop.

Especially when he hears that sob.]

Full disclosure, I didn't watch the whole dream because, well, privacy and all that. [A small awkward laugh. ... ..Right.]

But uh...you all right?

I'm— yeah. I'm fine.

[She is Not Fine.]

I'll be fine. I have to be.

[.....Uh huh.]

You know you don't have to be, right? Nothing wrong with feeling bad about something.

[No, she doesn't have to be all right, but it's easier to fake a smile, most of the time.]

All of that— what I dreamed of, I mean— it won't happen. Only a couple things did, but... they'll be changed in the future. That's what I was told. So I have to be all right.

[So she can greet everyone again with a smile. That's just what she does.]

...Hmmm. [Just a low hum as he glances at the crystal lantern in his hands, thinking of the brief images he did see.]

What parts change?

The world won't end and everyone won't die.

[The most important part. If her vision hadn't been changed, her sister wouldn't have woken up and stopped it from happening. They would have just... been gone.

It takes her a bit to say the next part, but she eventually writes it out slowly:]

I won't stay dead.

...Wait.

You're dead?

Yeah. That was what happened at the end, when that mark appeared in my eyes. So if I go back to my own world, I won't wake up.

That's...

[Really sucks. Though not exactly something he should say.]

...I'm sorry. But you said you had learned that...you come back to life or something?

I do. But I don't know about it, I haven't... seen it, I guess you can say. But my sister told me she saves me from that outcome, and I believe her.

Still can't be easy, but I admire you in having that much faith in her.

I'm guessing your sister was the other pink haired woman? The angry looking one? [A light crack of a grin as if trying to lighten the mood a bit.] Who were the others?

She's my hero, I can't not have that much faith in her.

[After all, the fal'Cie were stopped and everyone that had been crystallized, including Serah, were returned to normal. That was thanks to Big Sister Lightning and the rest of the branded l'Cie.]

Heh, yeah, the one that looks like an older me is Lightning, my sister. The others... were Noel, the last human left in the future— we saved his future at the cost of mine, but even then we just extended the inevitable. And then my sister was fighting Snow, my fiancé. I don't know why they were fighting, I just saw it in my visions. [Huh.] I don't think Lightning ever told me why. I'll have to ask, next time I see her.

[...What kind of world problem did she have— He wants to ask more, but should he??]

That...all seems complicated. And I thought we had it bad in my world. But you're engaged huh? I'm going to guess your sister doesn't really get along with him and is very protective of you.

She had a problem with it, at one time. They're on good terms, as far as I know. That's what she told me.

[...it's quiet for a moment, but—]

Snow wasn't with me in Verens. I guess he was but then wasn't— that was more complicated, but I was alone for long enough that I... found someone else to be with, at least in Verens. I don't think Snow wouldn't have wanted me to be lonely, either, and it worked out.

[......Whoa.]

.......Huh. Wouldn't have expected that. [He muses for a moment before he grins a little.] But makes sense. If the guy didn't manage to appear when you needed him and someone else managed to fill in, it's no surprise you'd feel a little change of heart. Especially if it made you happy.

That guy must have been really impressive, though.

[LITTLE DOES HE KNOW—]

Yeah, he was pretty impressive. Not bad looking, either. It was a win-win for me, to find someone that would become precious to me like that in a lot of ways.

[:') IF ONLY.........................]

He's kind of a dweeb sometimes though. [This is definitely affectionate, because of course Pupperou was kind of dweeby!!!] I miss him a bunch, but maybe I'll get lucky this time with him appearing here..

I hope so, too, but... What would you do if both he and your original fiancé show up?

[...she's thought about this, honestly.]

It... depends. Snow may understand that I didn't want to be lonely, but I know I've also been told that if I wanted to go back to Snow if he showed, then I should.

It's a little complicated, but I'm sure it'd work out.

...Hmmm.

[A thoughtful hum as he considers the situation.]

It's a tough call. Dunno what the other guy is like, but if it were me I could see myself both wanting you to be happy...but then also probably be selfish, so I'd probably fight the guy.

Then again, I'd just probably want to fight the guy, anyway, haha. Is he strong?

[Hah. Yep, that's where Verenskuro is too.]

Snow is really strong, yeah. He's a fistfighter but he could probably hold his own against you and your swords for a while. Not sure who would win...

[Because she can't say one of her guys would lose, that's terrible and just doesn't happen.]

Maybe you'd just call it a draw?

Fistfighter like Eizen... I definitely wouldn't want to lose to someone like that, so I'd aim to win, but a draw wouldn't be impossible.

[.....Wait.]

Though guess it's a bit weird putting myself in that kind of position, huh? Haha, sorry about that. Was only meant to try and give you a third person's opinion to try and ease your mind.

No, it's fine. I know you meant well.

[Because it's the same as Verenskurou. She knows both of them would want what would make her the most happy, though that may be hard to figure out because both of them make her happy... augh. At least she hasn't had to worry about that happening, yet.]

And it hasn't happened like that, but I know both would want what would make me happiest. So, don't worry about it.

[Since he's not involved, it's not really something he should concern himself with. But perhaps to continue teasing her a bit, though at the potential risk of making her sad, he grins.]

Since I've seen one of your fiancés, guess it's only a matter of time before the other pops up in a dream, eh? Think you'll go for a full harem and end up with a third here?

[THAT IS SO TERRIBLE but he is saying in a deliberate silly, ludicrous way.]
