[ This is not a message she ever wanted to write, but she's been putting it off for days now and she needs to get it over with. It's been awhile since Zelda's writing in the journals has been so tense and formal. ]

It brings me no joy to announce this, but as of today, I shall be taking over the administration of the Songerein Wikki Archives. The Archives have been a pillar of Reverein for nearly two years now and I intend to honor Trahearne's memory by ensuring its continued operation.

I thank each and every person who has contributed works to the archives and assisted in its growth over the years. To those seeking to submit their authored works, I ask you please wait patiently until this administrative transition is complete.

Any questions may be directed to me. Thank you for your time.

I do like a bit of spice in my curry, but rather on the mild side. My tolerance for spice is nothing like Link's.

[He isn't obligated to continue doing that, by any means, but he wanted to keep up the routine. Especially now that he knows who's taking over. Hopefully, Zelda wouldn't mind.]

[ Ah, there's the context Zelda was missing.

She puts her quill to the page with the intent to tell Beat that he doesn't need to go to all that trouble, but then stops herself. Actually, that sounds really nice right now. She's been going through papers for hours at this point, many of which are Trahearne's, and... well, it's a lot. ]

Thank you, Beat. That actually sounds quite wonderful at the moment.

[ And it's a routine that she will surely enjoy in the future. ]

[He knows how the job at the wikki is, having watched Trahearne do his thing whenever he dropped by. Though he'd brought curry for his friend for a different reason in the beginning, he'd later found it to be a good excuse to catch up and to remind the sylvari to take a break.]

I do hope so. He always worked so tirelessly on the archives that I cannot bear the thought of it falling to neglect. I only pray that I am worthy enough to carry on this facet of his legacy.

I am not a trained scholar. There are probably dreamers better suited than I to take up the administration of the archives. I worry that I might do something in my ignorance to somehow undo all of Trahearne's hard work.

[ The stress of the past week --the friends she lost, the boyfriend she thought she'd lose-- weigh heavy on Zelda, bringing to the surface anxieties she usually has better control over. ]

why ya worrying about stuff that aint happened yet?

[He writes that onto the page so quickly, like it was the first thought that came to him after reading her reply. It should come as no surprise that it's exactly that.]

Have you? [ Nothing about Kratos says "experienced secretary" to Zelda. ] In that case, you are welcome to join me at your earliest convenience. I fear I shall end up making a larger mess of things before much longer.

Do you recall the place you visited in my dream? What I did there involved a sizable amount of paperwork and filing alongside my other duties.

[as ludicrous as it sounds, angels have to do paperwork and organize said paperwork. 4000 years means he developed one hell of a filing system, at least.]

[ Man, imagine having the rank of "Lord" and still having to do your own paperwork. Lucky for Zelda, in this case. She organizes her own research and papers, but nothing on so large a scale as an entire archive. ]

[ Whenever Kratos arrives, he will find that every single surface in the office is covered with a stack of paper, many of which have a note on top written in hastily scrawled Hylian. A number of drawers are open, some with files, some empty. Several boxes are stacked neatly by the door, suggesting even more paperwork to go through. And in the center of it all is Zelda, sitting cross legged on the floor, with an open folder in her lap. ]

[the archives had overall been relatively organized last he'd ventured that way. even in that time, surely things can't be THAT bad. surely? needless to say, stepping inside the office only be met with paper chaos ends up rather surprising. he briefly glances around to assess the situation, before carefully stepping forward.]

[ Zelda looks up when she hears Kratos' voice. Oh thank the Goddess. Any longer and she might actually drown in these papers. ]

I do not understand how this happened. I thought at first it would be a simple task to subdivide a certain grouping into two, but the more files I go through, the more subdivisions I seem to need.

[ She looks forlornly down at the folder in her lap. Please help her...]

[oh zelda no. more subdivisions only lead to an endless cycle of creating further subdivisions. it's a filing nightmare.

Let's begin by trying to create a handful of major categories. If you can tell me what each group is, I can help you figure how many of those would be good to start with.

[Though Zhongli has yet to have the chance to meet the others who maintained the archives, he knows Trahearne had taken care of them fondly. To hear that another has taken up the mantle is reassuring, to say the least. The message that comes to Zelda is just as tense and formal, and written in an elegant, yet foreign script.]

I am glad to hear that the Archives will be taken care of in his absence. The records contained within were very well taken care of under his guidance, and I would like to see his work carried on.

Should you be in need of an extra pair of hands, I would be happy to offer my services.

[ If Zhongli paid any visits to the archives, he might have seen Zelda there in passing. The princess is a regular face in the archives, either studying by herself or in the company of her knight-bodyguard-boyfriend-person-she-liked-to-kiss, Link.

Zelda, however, does not immediately recognize Zhongli by name, nor is she aware of the relationship he and Trahearne had. ]

I should be glad for any help you are willing to provide. I've yet to identify all of the work that needs attention just yet, but I believe I shall need to hire a librarian or two in the immediate future.

[He probably has seen her, and if he saw her in person he would most likely recognize her, but they had not spoken to each other until now.]

Judging by your dedication to the quality of care given to the information housed within the Archives, I am sure you will be able to do well to carry on Trahearne's legacy. Though I myself am also not a scholar, in the waking world I work as a consultant and have quite a bit of knowledge regarding the maintaining and preserving of cultural traditions and ways of life. If those skills would be of benefit to you, then you need only call upon me.

Although, if I may ask... what has become of Trahearne's cat? I would see it often in the Archives, and am wondering what has become of it.

[ For someone who says they are not a scholar, Zhongli's skillset sounds strikingly academic to Zelda. A consultant with a background in anthropology? That sounds incredibly helpful! Definitely putting a pin in that for the future.

There's a short pause before Zelda writes back. ] His cat?

[ A frown forms on her face. Has she ever seen a cat hanging around the archives? She digs back through her memories of all her visits to the archives, but none of them seem to contain a cat. ]

I don't believe that I have.

In truth, I was not aware that Trahearne owned one. I fear I can be rather tunnel-visioned while I am focused on my studies and sometimes I fail to notice things about my surroundings.

[There is a small pang of worry that goes through Zhongli as he wonders what's befallen the creature, but he decides not to worry Zelda about it. She's got plenty on her plate as it stands.]

That is alright. There are others I can ask about it, so please do not worry yourself too much.

But you seem to be quite a diligent scholar. Though you have a grand undertaking, please do not forget to rest where you need. You do not wish to tire yourself out unnecessarily.

[ Too late, she is now going to worry about that cat.

But she will try to take his other words to heart. Especially because they are ones she has heard countless times before. ]

I shall do my best to keep that in mind. My ~~knight~~ ~~boyfriend~~ ~~partner~~ Link is very diligent in ensuring that I rest regularly.

[ A thoughtful pause. ] Are you a regular visitor of the Archives?
