Subject: Apology

A few days ago, a coward led some people uninvolved in the situation to confront me in the forest, despite being aware of how dangerous that was. I would like to take this moment to apologize to those that I've caused harm to. It was not my intent and that outburst won't happen again.

[The apology stirs a complex mix of emotion in him, one that the Nobody is a little ill-equipped to parse. On one hand, he's relieved that Kazuma seems to be okay now, but he's also confused as to what had triggered such rage. It's not like he really got many answers before things turned south.]

[Still, he replies all the same.]

Are you doing alright now?

[chippedsoul]

Yes. Everything's fine now. [A little tired and maybe under the weather, but fine.]

What about yourself? I remember hitting you hard. [Just like before...maybe someday they won't have these sort of fights.]

I'm ok. I've been hit harder by bigger things.

[That might not sound as comforting as Roxas means it to be.]

What happened? You kept saying you were after someone who wronged you...

[chippedsoul]

[He believes it. Still doesn't fill him with much relief knowing.]

I was after the man who was responsible for my father's passing, or so I was led to believe.

[twilightskey]

Your father's passing..?

That man who put the warning out... you thought he was responsible?

[chippedsoul]

He's not entirely innocent of what happened. [Just to make that clear, as he wrote that rather quickly. The writing more sharp.]

But he's not the one who was behind his death.

[twilightskey]

[Roxas considers those words carefully, taking a moment to reply. Funny enough, he can understand it. It almost reminds him of his hesitance towards Saix, now Isa; the other had been cruel and harsh, but he was merely under Xemnas's influence. He was not an innocent person, but was not the core behind what had gone on in the Organization.]

I think I get it. He's not the cause of what happened, but he still hurt you. I can get why you'd be upset by that.

Then... that guy, is he okay? Like, is he someone you can trust?

[chippedsoul]

[It's takes a moment before he replies. Mostly because he needed to admit to something that he still struggles to accept.]

Trust isn't the word I would use, but he's not going to be a problem here. He had been used just as much as I was.

[twilightskey]

So he's not an enemy?

[He may not be a friend, but if the guy isn't an enemy, Roxas won't worry too hard on him. He's going to follow Kazuma's lead on this.]

[chippedsoul]

No. Just a fool. [That bitterness is clearly still there.]

[twilightskey]

[That does draw a small chuckle from Roxas.]

Alright. I can work with that.

Are you gonna be alright? If you need, I'm up to talking about what happened.

[chippedsoul]

[. . . ] I'm not so sure about the talking part, but I do need to gather some things to cook later today.

[twilightskey]

That's ok. Need some help doing so?

[Sometimes companionable silence was just as good as talking.]

[chippedsoul]

[He doesn't really need the help, but-] If it's not an inconvenience to you. Can you meet me at the communal garden?

[twilightskey]

Yeah, I can come meet you. I'll be over right away.

[chippedsoul]

[And with that, he'll go ahead and pack away the journal and head for the garden. The place has seen some more activity, and the plants are definitely thriving. Though not everything is ready for be harvest. He'll be walking among the herbs to see what he can collect.]

[twilightskey]

[It's not a terribly long wait, but soon enough Roxas is making his way through the communal garden. It looks like it's coming along quite nicely, and Roxas takes a moment to admire the growing plants as he walks through it. But soon, he sees Kazuma, and makes his way over to him.]

Hey.

[chippedsoul]

[He's picking up some grown herbs when Roxas arrives. Straightening up, he bows slightly in greeting. A warm breeze is following him around as usual, but there something a little stuffy about it today. Even with his greeting smile, he looks visibly tired.]

Thank you for joining me. I'm just picking a few herbs here before seeing what there is at the market.

[twilightskey]

[Roxas does notice the warm breeze, but if there's something odd about it, he doesn't comment on it. Instead he comes over, looking over the herbs Kazuma is picking.]

Oh yeah? I haven't had a chance to see what kind of herbs were growing here.

[He takes a moment to look them over.]

What kind were you looking for?

[chippedsoul]

The kind for cooking. [Very descriptive.] Sage, parsley, thyme, some basil...a little bit of everything.

[He needs to cook, but he never said he knew what he's doing.] I suppose this will have to do. Most of them are still too young to be picked. [He's got at least a small handful of mixed herbs in his hand, putting them into a knapsack he brought with him.]

[twilightskey]

Huh... And you use all of those in cooking, right? I'm impressed you could tell them all apart.

[Roxas was able to learn the barest of bare basics of cooking, both from osmosis from Sora and from his time in Aefenglom. So while he's not completely oblivious to cooking, he also doesn't know everything about which herbs to use and how to harvest them.]

[chippedsoul]

I've been around a kitchen a few times when I used to run a restaurant in the other world. [A shrug.] I couldn't really tell you what everything is, I just recognize when a plant is used often.

[He'll start moving out of the herb area.] You ever tried cooking anything yourself?

[twilightskey]

Hmm... well, I tried a few simple things when I was staying in that other world. Nothing too complex, though. But it always seemed like it was pretty interesting, how people could cook all kinds of things. I did think it would be interesting to learn how ice cream was made...

[He follows Kazuma as he heads out of the herb garden. He pauses for a few moments, before venturing forward carefully.]

Do you have to head home right away? Or do you have some time for a detour?

[chippedsoul]

Just ice cream specifically?

[...Well, kids do like their ice cream. The weather is getting a little cold for ice cream though.]

Ah, no. I still plan to go visit the markets. [He raises his brows, curious.] Something you want to speak about in private?

[twilightskey]

Well... sea-salt ice cream is my favourite, so...

[Would be nice to have a taste of home! It feels like forever since he's had some.]

Well... not exactly to talk, but I was just wondering if you had time for a small break. That cafe run by the faeries has nice baked goods and drinks, and sometimes eating something good helps things... settle.

[He doesn't mean physically settle, but there had been a lot of times where just quietly sitting and eating ice cream with friends had made hard topics seem to settle on their own in his heart. Maybe Kazuma needs something similar?]
