Subject: For want of a task

Greetings to all who are up at this hour. I have found myself restless, as of late, unsure of what to do with myself in my time here. I practice what magicks I know, but have... found myself for want of something to focus on. The problem is, I know not what.

Has anyone need of any help?

It seems to happen to the best of us.

I finding that reading, or getting up and going for a walk tend to help me.

[Most of the time, anyway.]

I fear I have gone through most of the libeary at this point...

Certainly, it can feel like that. There are also some bookstores in the theatre district that I have taken advantage of.

Have you visited the beach?

Not recently, no. Mayhap it is time I did.

Walking long the beach and watching the waves is something I have found to be rather relaxing.

I do seem to remember seeing you there once.

Would you mind if I joined you for such a stroll?

I tend to find myself there when I have things on my mind.

Not in the slightest. I'd be grateful for the company.

Have you a preference for the time of day?

Not particularly. Though I usually find myself there in the evenings.

[As promised, Erichthonios goes to join him, content in the opportunity for quiet conversation. He has always felt a sort of kindred-ness with Ira, and though he may not be the most socially gregarious of individuals... he is, as always, glad for his company.]

Have you thought about picking up a craft? It gives you something to do during the days and, depending on the craft, could also be of practical use. It all depends on what you'd find joy in working with, of course.

A craft? Like Naoya and his carpentry?

That is an idea. Though, I would have to learn from the beginning if I were to work in a similar way. My people are accustomed to simply creating what we need or desire.

Precisely! Woodworking and carpentry is an excellent example!

The journey from beginner to master craftsman is more than half the joy in dedicating oneself to a craft. What sort of craft do you think would be of more interest to you? I do have some knowledge in many varied fields when it come to crafts, though only a few I'd say I'm an expert in, so if you wish help in learning I would not mind helping.

I fear I do not know which craft would be to my liking... Aside from cooking and reading, I cannot say I have even developed much in the way of hobbies..

Well... you could always try your hand at several crafts and see which one you like the most.

I daresay that is a sound suggestion.

I shall have to think on it.

It's always a good idea to keep ones options open if one is unsure of their interests.

Which is your favorite, if I may ask?

I used to be quite a good painter when I was younger. I always enjoyed that much more than forge work, much to my fathers chagrin.

Painting sounds a wonderful skill. I hope that with the time afforded us here you have had opportunity to pursue it to greater extent.

I could always use someone to help with my dreamotion! I've been practicing it a lot lately, and want to get really really good at it!

As for other things to do... there's painting, cooking, and singing, too! I do a lot of those during my downtime from the cafe.

I do enjoy cooking. And though I've not taught anyone regarding dreamotion, I have at least picked up on the basics.

That's a good start! Like cooking, the more you practice the better at it you will become!

It's really all about using your imagination and controlling your emotions. With that, you can really do anything you would like! I've even been trying to teach myself to fly recently.

In what way? Have you managed to create wings, or are you taking a more indirect approach, like manipulating the aether around you? Or, rather, the dreamotion energies here.

Hmm, it sounds to me like it's time for you to pick up a new hobby! What kinds of things did you like to do at home?

I spent much of my free time either reading or cooking, and though my work had its difficulties, I enjoyed looking after the creations I was tasked with tending to.

So you like cooking and animals. Hmmm...

Have you ever been to the Starflower Café and Animal Sanctuary? Tifa handles most of the cooking, but I bet nobody here would say no to an extra pair of hands helping with the animals now and then! Working there has definitely given me some direction.

There's also gardening, if you're looking to pick up something new. I could help! I'm a florist.

Gardening sounds wonderful.

[It is, after all, a form of tending to things. And Abyssos and the area outside the gates of Pandæmonium have quite the number of flora... albeit the more dangerous varieties.]

And, somehow, despite the length of my stay here, I have yet to visit that café. Mayhap 'tis time to change that, too.

You absolutely should! Even if it's just to come pass the time and get some lunch, but I've enjoyed my time here. Waitressing is pretty fun, I get to talk to all kinds of people!

Two birds with one stone, too, because I help take care of the flowers there, and keep an herb garden for the kitchen. It sounds like you're a nurturer!

Though, admittedly, I am not the best at conversing with others. But, 'tis possible that may change with time.
