Well, I've never been particularly good with introductions, but I suppose they are in order nonetheless.

My name is Alisaie Leveilleur, and I hail from a star called Hydaelyn. I very much hate sitting on my hands, and things here are rather far too quiet for my liking, so if anyone would like a partner to work with, please feel free to call on me. I'm not lacking in combat skills, but I'd also very much like to begin working with this.. dreamotion energy, as it were, so if anyone should like to practice with me, or be practiced on, please let me know.

I also wouldn't mind company while I clean up this treehouse.

Also, is there anywhere I might find some fresh cookies or cupcakes?

Crystal. It was fashioned to attune perfectly to my aether.

[ while she might have been furious with urianger for lying to her, he certainly did pour his heart and soul into this weapon in order to earn back her love, and for that she could not help but forgive him. before arriving here, she had not seen this sword in nigh over a year or so, and so having it back in her hands, a comfortable, familiar weight, is a good feeling. ]

And you're right, it is. I'm glad it made the trip here with me.

[ but! this isn't why oriphi came here, even if alisaie could talk about weapons until she was blue in the face. flipping the rapier in her hand, she settles it back down against the windowsill once more, beside its matching focus. ]

Anyroad, I suppose we ought to get to work soon enough, though really, you needn't help clean if you would rather not.

[ Ori gives a quiet Wow, when Alisaie answers. A sword made of crystal - now that's really impressive. She can't help but smile as Alisaie continues to regard it and Ori nods along - she's glad that Alisaie has this sword, too. It's nice to have even a little piece of home here.

Ori straightens her posture, then, because - yes! She is here and ready to clean! ]

I really rather would, actually! I like doing things like this. Oh, but before I forget—

[ The tiefling reaches into her pack and pulls out a few bars, neatly-wrapped in some brown parchment paper and secured with twine. These are homemade granola bars, which are not cookies or cupcakes but they are fresh, and have fruits and chocolate chips in them! ]

I did promise some snacks, didn't I? Here you go!

[ all right, all right, alisaie gave her her chance to escape, but if she's a weirdo that likes to clean, then all the better! alisaie certainly won't slack off, but it'll be nice to cut her cleaning time in half, and get this place nicely dusted.

but FIRST - alisaie takes the offered package and tugs open the twine, allowing the parchment paper to fall open. ]

Oh!

[ she inhales slowly. ]

They smell delicious. Shall we save them for when we are finished?

[ Ori smiles when Alisaie seems to approve of the treats; she had been worried since they were neither cookies nor cupcakes, but her adventuring friends had always enjoyed the bars, and she's relieved to find that newer friends in this realm might, too.

But! First, cleaning! Ori nods and claps her hands together. ]

Yes! They'll go great with some freshly brewed tea, and it'll be so refreshing after all the hard work!

Where would you like me to begin?

[ a crisp nod! ]

Well, I suppose it would be wise to start at the top and work our way down, hm?

[ lest the dust from the upper shelves drop down onto the freshly cleaned floor!! alisaie closes her eyes and holds out her hands, harnessing her dreamotion energy, bringing forth the memories of cleaning her room, and keeping the rising stones neat and tidy..

.. poof! two chocobo-print handrags appear in her hands, one of which she offers to ori. ]

So I suggest we begin with the shelves!

That's a great idea!

[ Ori claps softly, but excitedly at the display of dreamotion before she takes one of the handrags. The birds on it are so cute and fluffy, she thinks, although she's never seen a chocobo or knows what they are. ]

Wow! These are so adorable... Are these chickens?

[ Speaking of birds, though, one of Ori's avian friends from earlier flutters over to Alisaie from the windowsill which they had chosen to perch on and take the rag that she had been holding out for the tiefling. Ori smiles and asks, ]

Oh, would you like to help out, too?

[ And with a sweet, twittering sound, the little birdie flies up to the top of the shelf and starts to dust it... to the best of a flying bird's ability, at least. Ori will take out another rag (one she had brought, because she came prepared!?) and began to work on a different shelf! ]

They're chocobos! Have you.. never seen one?

[ it makes sense, she supposes. there were no chocobos on the first, either, so it stands to reason that wherever ori hails from may not have them either, but it's nevertheless a shame to hear. chocobos are so cute!!

she can only watch in mild awe as the little bird plucks the rag up and begins.. dusting?? how bizarre, she has never seen a bird dust a shelf before.. she's ready to conjure another rag for ori to use, but apparently she is quite well prepared! not to be outdone, alisaie drags a wooden chair over to the little kitchenette to begin dusting down the cabinets there. ]

They're large, friendly birds used for riding.

[ Ori tosses a glance back over her shoulder to Alisaie at her explanation, but moreover... "Chocobo" as a name somehow seems to fit the creatures portrayed on the rags perfectly. ]

I can't say that I have... but who knows, maybe they will show up here someday!

[ Imagine if she could talk to them, too! And then turn into one with Wild Shape... ]

Did you have your own chocobo?

We did have family chocobos growing up..

[ alisaie was, in fact, super loaded back home, raised on an estate and wanting for nothing. she tries not to talk about it much, it's embarrassing!! ]

But I did not take any with me when I left home, so.. no, not at the moment, I suppose. Generally speaking I'll rent a bird or a cart if we have need of one.

[ also i'm pretty sure there are chocobos here, alisaie just hasn't found them yet, so ori can talk to one all she wants!! ]

[ "Family chocobos" does sort of sound like something that a loaded family would have, Ori thinks, but she also has no concept for how expensive having family chocobos would be - for all she knows, they could be like having family chickens - so ultimately no judgment is passed. ]

I see...! We sort of did that from time to time too, but with horses.

[ She has, herself, also been the transport horse on a few occasions. ]

Ah, though most of the time we ended up using portals.

[ yeah having family chocobos is similar to having family horses, they ultimately need the same sort of care, and having private stables sure is costly.. but she's happy not to go on about that. alisaie has always been more embarrassed by her family's exorbitant wealth than particularly proud. ]

Portals? I assume you refer to teleportation magicks.

[ there's plenty of that where she comes from, too! ]

[ All the while Oriphi is continuing to dust and wipe down shelves, though she does nod to what Alisaie says. ]

Yes, that's right! I've only just recently figured out how to create portals, myself, but it only works if I'm familiar with the places I'm trying to get to.

[ by now alisaie is finished with one cabinet, so she just.. steps across the sink to stand on the opposite countertop, to reach the second set of cabinets. ]

Portals are a bit unusual where I am from, but teleportation via Aetheryte crystals is quite common. A friend of mine is attempting to set up something similar, here. But it is much the same - you must be attuned to the crystal to teleport to its location, lest you risk becoming lost in the aetherial sea.

[ which is a Bad Thing ]

[ Oddly enough, despite being from completely different places, how Alisaie describes teleportation and magic doesn't seem all too unfamiliar to Ori. At least, right up until she throws "aetherial sea" out there. At that, Ori must turn and tilt her head at her new friend as she makes her way to the next cabinet with her avian assistant in tow. ]

Aetherial sea...? What is that?

You've not heard of it?

[ alisaie learned of the aetherial sea at a very young age.. but then, she is sharlayan, and all sharlayans are a bunch of research nerds, so. ]

The sea of souls and energy that runs through the entirety of the star, the font of all magicks. When we teleport, we move through the aetherial sea from one point to another very quickly, but without aetheryte crystals to serve as beacons, one may become lost, and slowly dissolve over time.

[ the cabinets are done! she hops lightly down from the countertop. ]

[ Admittedly, Oriphi doesn't know too much about other planes where she's from. She knows that they exist, but the only one she could claim to have any sort of knowledge on is the Feywild, and she's never been there— or at least, she's never been there and then retained any memory of it thereafter...

She nods along at Alisaie's explanation with genuine interest. ]

I see... how wondrous, but also terrifying! To be honest, I don't exactly know how my teleportation magic works to that extent... I just know that it only works between two trees that I know, and it only works when the locations are on the same plane of existence.

You teleport between.. trees?

[ clearly this is blowing her mind a little, as alisaie stops where she is standing in order to raise a hand thoughtfully to her chin. ]

Why, I've never heard of such a thing, though I do not claim to be well learned in the intricacies of aetheric teleportation. I suppose were the trees made to serve as beacons..

[ she's thinking about this way too hard, but alisaie is a big nerd beneath her jock energy, so this is interesting to her!! in the end, however, she shrugs. ]

.. or your world simply behaves fundamentally differently from mine, and that is that.

[ As Ori glances over at Alisaie and watches her ponder such arcane wonders, the tiefling can't help but be reminded of her similarly white-haired, magically-talented friend with a fancy sword, and that brings a smile to her face. She hasn't known Alisaie for very long, but Dae she's known for a bit, and based on initial impressions alone, Ori thinks the two would have gotten along. ]

Hmm, I wouldn't be surprised if it's a little bit of both? There are several planes of existence where I'm from, so if one were to travel across them I imagine you'd need something that functions like a beacon, but I've never... really traveled across them. I think. Maybe?

[ Things that make you go hmm. Anyhow... ]

You remind me of my friend, Dae. He would probably be able to explain how this kind of thing works in our world better than I could, too.

[ she's overthinking this, but sciencing magicks is FUN. ]

Ah - well mayhaps someday I should have the good fortune of meeting him.

[ alisaie chuckles, but it is time to get back to WORK. dragging the second chair over to the shelves opposite of ori, alisaie hops up onto it and begins dusting again. they're making quick work of these shelves indeed! ]

Nevertheless, that's still quite fascinating. I would love to know more about how it works.

[ Admittedly, thinking about and mentioning Dae has Ori feeling a little more nostalgic and maybe a little homesick as she continues to dust shelves with her bird friend and Alisaie. Part of her does miss home, but a bigger part of her feels guilty because she doesn't miss it as much as she thinks she should. She should be more proactive about finding a way to escape this dream realm, maybe.

... but those are thoughts for another time.

After a beat of silence, Ori suddenly remembers that she's having a conversation and she should probably... respond. ]

Oh. Well, I suppose I could try to explain how my teleportation works. My magic draws from my connection with nature, so being able to create portals through trees that I'm familiar with draws on that connection, too. If that makes sense...

Your connection with nature? You mean the elements?

[ she probably does not mean the elements.. given all ori has said, it seems that wherever she is from is quite different from hydaelyn, and runs on a different set of aetheric rules. they may very well be unable to puzzle this out. ]

But I suppose if the trees serve as beacons, which doesn't seem too off-course, considering they must be trees you are familiar with.. well, it is similar enough.

[ and as close as they'll get to making sense of it, she thinks. ]

Where I am from, one must attune to aetheryte crystals in much the same way, to travel. We cannot travel to an.. unfamiliar tree, as it were.

Well, elements are a part of it...

[ She's speaking of primal energy, specifically, although they are best expressed in nature as the elements themselves.

But at length, Ori nods along. She's no scholarly wizard like her friend Dae, but she does have some kind of fundamental understanding - she needs to in order to cast her spells so she can heal and protect her friends! In any case, Alisaie's explanation seems to make sense. At the very least, she sure is saying it as-a-matter-of-factly enough that Ori thinks it checks out, anyway. ]

Magic can be so mysterious, huh! I'd love to hear more about how it works in your world!

[ Perhaps it is what they can continue to talk over as they continue cleaning and later on when they reward themselves with snacks! ]
