journal 🔶 psa from a former fairy
[Ferran isn't unaware of how these journals work, but he's still working out what pages are "public" and which are for his own private use.
Thus, one evening, a sketch of a building slowly comes together, distinguished by its tall stone towers, walls topped with battlements, wrought iron fences, and a large courtyard. The artist pays special attention to the detailing in the texture, making it easy to imagine what materials the imposing place might be made of. To those familiar with the city of Aefenglom, it's clearly a representation of the Coven.
After he's done, he writes in neat print:]
Don't trust the Fae. Whatever else I've forgotten, I know that much.

[More than impression, at this point, really.]
Something happened to me back home that made it hard for me to think straight. It's kind of carried over here, even aside from the memory issue.

If you want, I could try to fill you in on what I remember of Aefenglom? Maybe that'll help the memories come back.

Though speaking of explaining, he's not entirely sure what he wants to remember of this other world. He's mostly interested in his personal relationships, rather than anything another person could tell him... but with the offer on the table, it seems stupid to turn it down entirely.]
Give me the basics.

Well, the world of Aefenglom had a really strange magic about it. There were two kinds of people; monsters and witches. Witches had magic at their disposal, while monsters had unique abilities related to what kind of monster they were. I think fae were a type of monster; at least, I've seen some around. But there were also pucas, dragons, merrows, turnskins... I was a turnskin when I was there.

The vagueness of his memory and a few subconscious defense mechanisms keep him from making any real connections just yet, but it all does sound... familiar, to an extent. People being turned into monsters? Yeah, no wonder he hated it. That's awful.]
So you're not one anymore? That must be a relief.

It's a little strange though. I mean, I still sometimes get the urge to dig stuff up in the dirt, but at least I'm not, you know, doing it anymore? Oh, and at least I can eat chocolate again without getting sick. I have a friend who's happy he can eat meat again; he was a puca, so he could only eat what rabbits could.

[Extremely unfortunate habits, but ones that can be broken now. Ugh, reducing people to animals... not that he doesn't love animals, but being one is another idea entirely.]
It sounds miserable, so I'm starting to get an idea of why I didn't like it there. I'm glad you don't have to deal with that now.

It wasn't too bad all the time. It was cool to hear and smell things I couldn't before, and it felt nice being near all my friends. And it felt really cool to transform sometimes. But there were definitely some downsides to it, too. I'm glad I'm back to being myself

["Cool" to transform into a weird monster? Yeah, no thanks. Whatever senses or abilities that might come along with that kind of thing wouldn't be worth it, in Ferran's opinion. It's bad enough dealing with powers he doesn't understand...]
That's the only reason I knew it was more than a vague feeling, anyway. Meeting someone else from that place who came here, too.
no subject
Yeah. It's strange, how some of these worlds work; I've had others here mention meeting me in worlds I've never even heard of. It makes me think that some worlds might make us forget things when we leave them.
no subject
Given what we've heard, I wouldn't argue with the idea. But I couldn't guess how any of that works or why.

[Memory problems suck!]
For all you know, most of the worlds you've been to might have been like that. For that matter, maybe it's the same for me, even if being in another world is strange to think about.

But if you want more information about Aefenglom, I can try to offer what I remember of the place.
no subject
Thanks. I think that's enough for now, but I'll probably have more questions later.
[... whether they're ones he'll ask is another matter, but still.]
I want to think on it for a while.

Oh, I'm Roxas, by the way.
