[Ferran isn't unaware of how these journals work, but he's still working out what pages are "public" and which are for his own private use.

Thus, one evening, a sketch of a building slowly comes together, distinguished by its tall stone towers, walls topped with battlements, wrought iron fences, and a large courtyard. The artist pays special attention to the detailing in the texture, making it easy to imagine what materials the imposing place might be made of. To those familiar with the city of Aefenglom, it's clearly a representation of the Coven.

After he's done, he writes in neat print:]

Don't trust the Fae. Whatever else I've forgotten, I know that much.

More of an injury, in those terms. Something magic.

[He's not fully sure how to describe it, for how little he understands it. He just knows it's messing him up. Maybe he'll try to see if anyone can figure it out, sometime.]

If I end up having too much trouble, I'll get back to you. Hopefully it won't come to that, but I really can't be sure. It's nice to have options.

[Specific way, huh? He's curious, but he won't dig for now—maybe in person, instead of written down for everyone to read. ... he does shake his head to himself at the dismissal of the thanks, though.]

Ferran has become much more hesitant with offering his name in anything magically related, so he doesn't reply in kind; if his name has been displayed already, so be it, but he won't give this place more than that.]

I've written letters, and I've been able to exchange messages instantly, but having both at the same time is new.

I'm curious about how do you exchange messages instantly without writing...I have asked you a lot of questions already, though.

It's not exactly the same, but sharing your thoughts for everyone to comment on can be nice, too.

[for instance using a service called something like a living diary, cough. Also, no shyness allowed. He does take a minute to consider how to describe it, though—assuming no knowledge of electronics...]

It's kind of complicated. Basically, you have a machine with one switch for each letter, connected to these long cables that are buried underground. Then the letters you pick get sent through the cables to someone else's machine, and that machine either writes the message out, or shows it on a screen.

[He doodles a basic diagram of two computers hooked up displaying the word "blah" on each, with one person tapping on a keyboard and the other with a surprised expression, circular hands near their face.]

I feel like I should be thankful that we have journals and letters here.

☺ Yeah. I don't understand all of it myself, I just know how to use them. But the end result is pretty much the same as these journals.
