Hey there! You can just call me Alphen. I've already encountered many warriors and seasoned soldiers. We have strong fighters here.

I'm interested in seeing weaponry or combat gear. There are some really neat swords with intriguing designs. Still, I know that a weapon can be lethal all the same. So I've been meaning to ask a question as well.

For what reason would you fight?

I fight to protect my friends. I want to use my strength for the right reasons.

Granted, all I know how to do is wield a sword. I'd be more than glad to put those skills to use. I'm willing to spar and exchange combat moves with someone. Maybe we can learn with one another. I can't exactly let my blade rust when seriously powerful beasts could attack at any moment.

Anything. Everything I can. Sometimes the dangers come from outside, like wild beasts and bandits, but we have seen more than our fair share of political turmoil in Inazuma as well.

We do what we can to survive.

Inazuma?? Is that where you're from? I've never heard of it before.

[burnbrighter]

Oh, that's right! Inazuma is an island nation that's a part of Teyvat. That's where I come from.

Where are you from?

That's interesting. Everyone's got a story to tell around here.

Me? I'm from Calaglia. Back there it's always hot. The heat can be hard to deal with.

Oh, is it like a desert, then?

I'm sorry, I kind of derailed the conversation. If you're still looking for a sparring partner, I'm happy to volunteer. I'm pretty good with a polearm.

Yeah, for sure. It's close to a volcano and some mountains. Even the people who are born there struggle with the heat.

I'm always down for sparring!! You don't even have to ask.

Yeah, I bet! Living near a volcano sounds tough!

I would love to spar, then! There are people here I need to protect as well, so I can’t let myself get rusty either.

There's way too much ash, dust, and rocks everywhere. It's not that interesting to look at.

Alright! You're on. Where do you want to meet up? Do you have any locations in mind?

I don’t have much of a preference! I can manipulate fire as well, so if that comes into play, I’d rather we weren’t in danger of burning anything down. Other than that, I’m pretty easy.

You can manipulate fire? Isn't that dangerous?

It doesn't exactly sound safe.

[ He's not really in a position to talk because he wields a giant flaming sword. ]

It’s not like I go around setting everything I see on fire. I use it mostly to create shields.

You can create shields???

Is it magic or something else?

It sounds like a unique ability.

[burnbrighter]

I guess you could call it magic! I have what's called a Vision; it's a gift from the elemental gods of Teyvat. Vision bearers get the ability to manipulate elemental energy, and since Visions are based on people's ambitions, everyone's power is a little bit different.

Apart from myself, there's another Pyro Vision bearer and a Hydro Vision bearer running around here somewhere.

Manipulating elemental energy seems hard. I guess it takes a lot of training to use it well.

So let me get this straight there's Pyro and Hydro? And they're gifts from the gods? I'm not sure how to process this.

I guess I don’t find it complicated, but that’s probably because I’m used to it. Just think of it as elemental magic and leave it at that. The rest of that stuff is just background.

[ He already gave a dissertation on Visions to Dohalim, maybe he can explain it better. ]

That's kind of like how I don't find a sword all that complicated because I've been using it for so long.

Some things just become natural. For you that would be magic.

[ He's good friends with Dohalim so asking him for the full detailed version won't be too hard. ]

Yep! At least the sort of magic that comes from Visions. I’m still wrapping my head around a lot of the magic here.

It might take some time to work through it.

We'll just do what we can and take it steady.

That’s the philosophy I’m trying to go by here.
