[ Satan has made alluded somewhat to his unusual heritage (mostly through mentions of just how old he is), but Zelda can't remember reincarnation coming up. That said-- ]

Is that what it means to be an Avatar? You are afflicted with some sort of sin? Because your brother Satan doesn't seem particularly angry for being the 'Avatar of Wrath.' [ Maybe the Avatar of Overreacting to Obviously Fake Threats. ]

So you have a predilection towards things that are shiny? Like precious metals or gems?

Yeah it's kinda like that. There's seven like big big sins in the world an' all of us kinda just embody a certain one. Like how you might have a god or goddess embody purity or health. We embody the sins.

Satan's a lot better at controllin' his sin than the rest of us if I'm bein' honest. Just don't tell him I said that it's kinda embarrassin ya know?

It seems that way. Usually it's money that I get my eyes set on, or anything I can sell, but here it seems like I kinda just get eager for shiny things.

Ah, I understand now. The goddesses in my kingdom's pantheon embody different virtues, but I do not know of any beings that embody vices.

Do you actually need to sell your valuables, or are you content to hoard them? Because if acquisition is the driving force, I might have a few ideas for you.

If ya want me to be honest here, usually my luck ain't too good back home an' I usually gotta give up everything i get cause i owe my brothers or others. But holdin' onto stuff might be able to help a little actually.

[ Zelda is quite curious about what kind of debt Mammon is repeatedly finding himself in. Gambling trouble? Mismanaging money? But she won't pry (for now). ]

In that case, have you tried creating treasures using dreamotion? Or wishing for them at the wishing well with the baubles the fairies give us?

I've tried practicin' that dumb dreamotion stuff but it just won't work for me.

Ah, yes, I understand. I am not particularly skilled with dreamotion myself.

What about the wishing well? Have you already used your baubles?

Nah I still have my baubles. I thought about usin' them but then I thought well what if I use 'em. Then I won't have them if I really need 'em ya know?

While I see your point, this seems like a situation where you genuinely need them for your emotional wellbeing. You might be able to wish for a sizeable hoard of treasure from the wishing well, while still keeping a bauble aside for emergencies.

[ She's not sure what kind of emergency Mammon is worried about needing a bauble to combat, but she can understand his caution. ]

Imma be real with you right now. Before I got pulled into this dream world, I was flat broke. I doubt the baubles will ge able to get me any kinda treasure. At best they might be able to bring like. My pool table or somethin'

[ For someone with a predisposition to hoarding valuables, Zelda is surprised to read that Mammon didn't have any money in his home world. Perhaps he really is bad at money management. ]

Having something familiar from home, like your table pool, might help you feel a little better about being here. I wished for an object from home several months ago and its presence makes me very happy.

In that case, having ruled out all magical options, you might need to resort to manual labor.

Nah, I just got odd jobs here an' there. Workin' as a waiter at a bunny themed resturaunt, workin' booths to sell stuff, any lil odd job like that.

I am confident that I think the appropriate level of you, thank you. [ If those words were spoken, they would have come out sounding matter-of-factly. ]

I suppose employment, unusual or otherwise, comes back to initial problem of this world's lack of minted currency. Even if you were to find or establish a rabbit-themed eatery, you would only earn pay in fairy trinkets and other such nonsense.

[ That was the most neutral of neutral comments and yet it still left Mammon feeling a little happy. Dang it, why are humans always so good at breaking past his tsundere shell?! ]

I really can't imagine a place like this wanting to have a bunch of boys walkin' around dressed in fancy outfits and bunny ears. But maybe fairy trinkets wouldn't be that bad of an aim...

If there was demand for such an establishment in the Devildom, there may well be demand here as well. Though we all hail from different worlds, many of our number seem to share similar tastes in restaurants. Dreambucks is an excellent example.

Oh yeah. I guess dreambucks is kinda like that huh. I guess with all the fairies floatin' around I forgot that we could also join in and whatever.

Yes, it seems there are a number of entrepreneurially-minded dreamwalkers among us. The selection of wares in the marketplace has grown quite robust over the winter.

If you do elect to establish your own business, you could impose your own restrictions on what materials you are willing to accept in barter for food and service, such as payments in the form of gems or precious metals.
