Hello everyone,

My name is Jude Mathis. I’m writing today to ask for everyone’s input and help in setting up a communal clinic. My hope is that we can create a solid network of medical support and reference material to help the entire community through our time together here, regardless of our personal abilities and circumstances. Songerein is very different from what most of us were used to, adjusting can understandably be difficult. People can still get hurt, however, and there are dangers unique to this world that we still don’t know how to handle. I think we can work on addressing that with a proper clinic established in Reverein, and to that end, I’ve organized the following outline:

CLINIC GOALS
• Provide prompt and adequate medical services to everyone

• Schedule check-up for any health concerns
• Find a healer/doctor for emergency situations
• Contact one for expeditions/combat-oriented Dream Board missions

• Research and develop treatment against Songerein-specific afflictions

• Study and practice of dreamotion for medical applications
• Explore and share alternative methods of health care, including through resources unique to this world

• Discovery and growth of plants with medicinal properties
• Experiment with animal and mineral substances to similar effects

I believe making it communal is the soundest choice, because people can vanish from Songerein just as suddenly as they find themselves here. We can’t guarantee our continued presence in this world, so anything useful we learn or create should be well recorded. That way, the important information and procedures can be referenced by anyone after, even if the person who made the discovery is no longer around.

The general idea laid out, the personnel here so far consists of Dr. Yujin Mikotoba and myself. My focus is on dreamotion and magical healing, Dr. Mikotoba is experienced in traditional methods of diagnosis and treatment. We’d be glad to have volunteers who are willing to help in any way, we’re also open to feedback on how we can better the clinic and its services to better assist everyone. Please contact us if you're interested or have ideas through the journal. For in-person consultation, the building we've settled in is at the north of the plaza by the riverside, between the residential and market districts.

or how absolutely NOT subtle it all sounds, and Jude can't help making guesses, hm...]

Let's just call your friend "A". I can understand your concern, but it's hard to figure out what we can do for him without more detail. Can you please answer the following questions as best as you can?

1. Does it only occur when he's in combat?
2. Did it start happening in Songerein, or was he already doing it back in his home world?
3. Do you know cases of his burns being treated without the help of your mutual healer friend before? If so, how was it done?

1. Usually. He does it intentionally.
2. He's been doing since before I met him back home.
3. It's always been her. She's the reason he can be on fire in the first place too.

Fights are generally avoidable here if you don't go out of your way looking for them. Your friend can fight without resorting to that method too, especially if it's also dependent on your healer friend to activate it. But those would just be methods of prevention, not treatment, so the first step would be to find out if his burns can be healed through another way. Like by someone else with healing magic, through salves and potions, or some other method available in Songerein.

[Meaning it would require this 'A' to set himself on fire while fighting again... Not ideal, is it?]

Alph A's pretty fight happy, so that's out. He's off fighting monsters all the time. [And you know this because you're usually right there alongside him...] He could fight without using it, sure. But it's part of his usual fighting style. Burn his hands off, incinerate whatever he's fighting, you know? I've seen the guy fight without his Blazing Sword, it's pretty sad.

So that means figuring out if someone else can heal him right? Another friend of ours has healing artes but they can't really keep up with his burns.

If it really can't be helped, then yes, finding another source of healing or mitigation would be the only other option. Dreamotion healing can be developed independently from arte healing, but from the sounds of it, some sort of tool or accessory that could potentially lessen the burns for your friend may be the most practical workaround. If the damage is made less severe, then maybe your other friend's healing would be able to keep up, and it could be less taxing for your main healer friend to treat too.

I think it may be best to find a means to mitigate the burns' effects on your friend's body first. Maybe an accessory with ice powers, or see how far Songerein's healing potions can go before your healer friend has to step in?

[Kinda goes against his principles to say "get hurt first and then we'll gauge how effective different kinds of treatments can be", but... There's not much choice, is there?]

Maybe an accessory could work? You know, prevent the damage before it happens. Maybe make it easier on our friend, too.

[Is that what Jude said in his earlier explanation? Yes. But Law is stupid.]

It'd have to be a pretty strong accessory, though. I'm not kidding when I say his flames are strong. He bested Efreet with it, even. Efreet! A literal spirit of fire!
