Greetings and felicitations, fellow dreamwalkers.

In case we are yet unacquainted, I am Emet-Selch. And rather than an inquiry, today I would extend an open invitation to all of you.

Over the past several months I have been working together with my most gracious hosts at the Grand Theatre House in a collaborative effort to bring something new and inspired to Reverein. In order to do this, I would seek talented individuals to join my theatre company.

Rather than hold a private audition, however, I thought it far more exciting to prepare a much larger event for all to partake in. After all, many of us are possessing of unique skills and fascinating abilities, so why not indulge the opportunity to showcase these talents upon a magnificent stage?

Thus have I decided to hold the REVEREIN TALENT SHOW. Whether you've an inclination towards the performing arts or not, you are all welcome to attend, or to simply savor a few moments in the spotlight if that is your desire. There will be rewards, of course. And those who have earned a place within my company will be announced at the conclusion of the event. If the idea of being judged frightens you, there will also be opportunity for improvisational and free-form performances following the main attraction.

Details are as outlined below, and I am available for anyone who has further questions about the competition. Anyone who should like to join our staff is encouraged to reach out to either myself or the Grand Theatre House managerial staff. At this time, we are yet seeking additional seats for our judges panel as well as those who might volunteer their time and talents to make this event a true spectacle.

The competition will be held early next month, over a course of two evenings on the 5th and 6th days. I trust this will allow everyone ample opportunity to perfect their routines. And with that, I shall eagerly await the chance to witness your performances.

((OOC: tl;dr the Grand Theatre House will be hosting a Talent Show during the evenings of September 5 and 6. Anyone may participate! If you'd like your character to enter for a chance at prizes and snarky judges' commentary, please reply in the thread below. Applications will remain open indefinitely. (And are totally voluntary, by the way! Your character can still show up and perform if they wish!) This is mostly just to give me and the other players an idea of how many characters we'll be judging and who actually wants to join Emet-Selch's theatre group. You may assume that flyers advertising the event have cropped up around town (if they don't all get blown away!) and within a few of the shops who will be taking part in the event.))

[He's all but certain he has no desire to witness these talents of yours, Thancred. Unless you speak of your sharp tongue and intelligence-gathering skills, in which case you may be sorely disappointed. He has no ulterior motives here (...possibly...); none at all.]

[He also recognizes that the man is trying to get under his skin. To what purpose, he knows not, but he can only assume he's still bitter about something, and he himself makes for a satisfying target. Leave it to an Ascian to be elected as the perfect verbal punching back to relieve one's stress and frustrations.]

Well, if you change your mind, may I suggest that you do not entertain thoughts of putting together a comedy act overlong? Your delivery really is quite abysmal.

As for the latter, you will have to be far more specific. I've a fair number of friends here and I rather fail to see your sudden interest in my sleeping schedule.

I'd never. Ryne already told me my jokes are abysmal, using something like 'dad jokes'. So you don't have to worry about those showing up. Unless someone else does.

Oh, the one the Warrior of Light told me about, Hyth...something. That's who I was referring to.

Oh, how fitting! And such sound advice. If I were you, Thancred, I would be certain to thank my young charge for sparing me the embarrassment.

And I should certainly hope not. Not that it matters to you, but all of the applications we have received thus far have been exceedingly promising.

Yet, regrettably, I must admit your rather vague description falls short of jogging my memory. Hippokampus? Hippopotamus? Hythergraph? I honestly fail to imagine who you could possibly mean. Perhaps you might try again once you've learned to spell.

[He knows exactly who Thancred means and he will simply continue to play dumb otherwise. His friend is not up for discussion and he will not allow Hythlodaeus' name to be sullied, not even in the midst of this handwritten snarking session.]

[I'm sure Emet-Selch can just feel the lineface that Thancred is giving his device right now. He saw it plenty of times when they were on the First.]

Well then, I will enjoy the show instead of participating. And I'll make sure Ryne knows, somehow, that you approve.

Look, I'm going on what the Warrior told me, and they were rushing through what they'd learned. They were one of the Ancients they met.

[Yet the latter words do give Emet-Selch reason to pause and read them over again. It's an odd way of phrasing it, one that makes him think that Thancred (or the Warrior, rather) was not referring to one of his shades, but to the real Hythlodaeus. He's heard tell of their encounter in his recreated Amaurot, heard too even more unbelievable tales that that. Yet here it is again - entirely unprompted.]

Oh, I can hardly wait. Especially now that I know that you will be watching enraptured from the stalls.

As to the rest, given your determination to jog my memory, mayhap you should provide me with a reason to address your queries more seriously.

[If this isn't snark, Emet-Selch's mind fairly boggles at why the man would bid him "relax a little" in the first place. They certainly aren't friends, they certainly do not trust one another, and their default interactions have been sarcastically antagonistic at best. What, then, is the motive behind any of this?]

I must say it's lucky for you that I am both well-rested and perfectly relaxed. Your sentiments, therefore, are wholly unnecessary.
