You ever just.

Lock yourself in your room for like a month and forget what time is? I mean, I guess I ate at least, and I didn't just fall asleep for a whole freakin' month like after the Medjed thing but

like

a whole. Month. Least it was fruitful.

Which uh, leads me to my actual question: who has some technology here with 'em? Phones, laptops, things that require a power source cause I think I figured out some dream crystal things, but it might require a more... ambient dream energy. Dunno how THAT is gonna be harnessed yet, but I need to know my many sleepless nights and curryless days weren't for nothing. Testing on my own stuff is fine, but knowing it's not just a fluke is even better.

I can if I really put my mind to it. If I really tire myself out, I'll get up for some basic stuff but just pass right on back out again.

[She can sleep so hard, she could probably be a professional sleeper if she really wanted to!

Ooh, but that sounds promising...]

Yeah— so a while back when we first got here, Kazuma and a few others found some old appliances that had crystals in them instead of electrical plugs. I've had my hands on some for a while now, figured out how to connect 'em to an electronic like my laptop, and we knew they worked with dream energy. The crystals react to positive dreamotion, and when I have some good dreams I'll find my laptop fully charged if I have one of the crystals plugged in. It can stay charged for about a day, but if there's a source of energy that's just constant... it might be able to power more than just a laptop.

[ A sleep coma wouldn't me unusual for her then, huh...

Susato has been around a while. She has learned a lot, and is probably less confused than she would have been a year ago, but that's still a lot of words and concepts she doesn't understand. It takes a moment for the response to come, but she thinks she gets the gist. ]

Oh, um... well, I am not a constant source, but I seem to have an affinity for it.

[ She suddenly feels less helpful than she was hoping to be. Hrm... ]

Has Kazuma ever told you about the Dawn flowers?

[IT REALLY ISN'T...... but so far she's not taken one big long nap! ...yet.]

That's all right. I don't think one person could power EVERYTHING in this place, that'd be a little too much. But if enough people were just... subconsciously exuding dreamotion, it pooling together would work well.

[Ooh, but she's mentioning something interesting.]

Gasp, was he keeping info from me?! Man, I'm gonna go and... draw on his face in his sleep!

--Er, no, he hasn't! Buuuut I'd love you forever if you told me, Susato!

[ But how does one get to that point of subconsciously exuding it...? It's definitely a thought, even if Susato doesn't immediately have an answer. ]

I have to wonder if that is possible. What an interesting idea.

[ Hm. ]

Hehe. Well, he is actually a fairly light sleeper, if you didn't know. [ So good luck with that one she'll help, probably. ] The Dawn flowers are a special type of flower that he and Mr 76 discovered last winter. They have been found to suppress nightmare energy, so perhaps they give off ambient dream energy on some level, or foster it in some way.

If not, there may be another flower out there in the Wildlands that can.

Maybe! Maybe eventually it could be, but I think that's person-dependent. I'm not really great with dreamotion yet but a subconsious level of it being released could be a thing.

[As she describes the flower, Futaba's taking notes on it for study. That could potentially help, considering nightmare energy would probably have the reverse effect on the charging crystals.]

I have my ways, don't count me out heheh.

But that's good to know, about the flowers. I haven't had nightmares lately so I can't fully test if my theory is correct with what those can do, but I'd expect that negative energy to drain the positive from the crystals I have. Wonder if we can grow those flowers here, or if they can be planted later on?

[ Dreamotion has always been person-dependent, so what Futaba is saying makes total sense. Susato is also more than happy to elaborate, when it comes to the Dawns. ]

When they were discovered, I was able to bring some home with me from the Wildlands. My father spent the next few weeks building our greenhouse by hand, just to have a place to grow them. He studied them, too, at the clinic. On the second floor.

[ ......Phew. That thought weighs on her mind like bricks. She thought she'd gotten over this, but apparently that sorrow still lingers.

Perhaps it always would. ]

I would be happy to bring you some blooms. They glow, and are quite pretty.

[Ah... that's still not easy to talk about, she understands.]

If you have some, I'd love 'em. If we can make them bloom everywhere, even better. Do you still have his research?

Mm, I've organised what I could of his notes and left them there for the clinic's volunteers. From what we've gathered, they prefer dark, cave-like conditions, which I suppose makes sense, considering where they originate.

If you don't mind me borrowing them, I can copy them for myself so they can stay at the clinic, just in case your dad comes back and wants to study them more! I can note that though [gonna do that now] but any other information is helpful. I'm no botanist, but any knowledge is power for what I'm working toward.

I will see what I can do! 🌸 [ Yeah, there's totally a little doodle of a flower, which automatically looks like a sakura blossom, because it's Susato. It's her family's Thing. She is no botanist either, but she can definitely get behind this collaborative effort. Knowledge is power indeed. ]

[ ......Hm. What else is there to say? When she's sure there's nothing else, Susato will shut her journal. She doesn't open it again until a while later, once she's gathered what she needs in her rather large messenger-sized bag, and she'll follow the directions on the page to get to Futaba's treehouse.

Knock, knock? It's probably a bit of a pain with all that extra weight to climb up, but she's really, really careful! ]

[Futaba had just finished cleaning up, so she's actually coming up behind Susasto after finishing the rest of taking out trash and all.]

A-ah! I was t-trying to get done b-before you got here, but... y-you beat me here!

[Oh, her bag is really cute too... despite the People Are Scary, she knows Susato enough to get close to look at her bag.]

[ Susato jumps a little bit at Futaba's sudden appearance, but she seems to settle quickly. Guess she doesn't have to worry that she got the wrong place, then. She chuckles a little nervously, but then quickly follows Futaba's line of sight to her bag. ]

Ah, this? I needed a new one, so I got one at the Dream Faire. They had some ready-made ones, but you could also make your own from leather.

[ She grins--though what is important is what's inside the bag, of course. ]

[SUSATO TAKEDOWN, AVERTED.....]

I-I didn't get a good l-look-around the Faire, b-but it sounds like I should have. A-anyway!

[Just gonna open the door for them; her treehouse isn't in a horrible state, more... lived in mess but nothing worse than that. She worked fast.]

G-go ahead and um... m-make yourself at h-home! [Right, hosting was a new thing.] L-let me know if you want a-any water or something, I-I at least have that.

[Futaba will do what she had mentioned and make herself comfortable after grabbing her journal to jot things down, as well as her laptop just in case for more of her spreadsheets of information.]

[ Susato's standards are... high when it comes to cleanliness. This probably comes from the fact that she doesn't feel like she can relax in a space that's anything less than clean, so Futaba might notice Susato lingering a little awkwardly at first, but by now, she's definitely seen worse.

(What the heck, Beat. What the heck, Ryunosuke.) ]

[ Without taking Futaba up on that offer just yet, Susato looks for an open table on which to set down her bag, and she sees no reason to delay. First, she pulls out a jar with glowing blue flowers and another with ones that look like glass roses. ]
