Subject: Question
You ever just.
Lock yourself in your room for like a month and forget what time is? I mean, I guess I ate at least, and I didn't just fall asleep for a whole freakin' month like after the Medjed thing but
like
a whole. Month. Least it was fruitful.
Which uh, leads me to my actual question: who has some technology here with 'em? Phones, laptops, things that require a power source cause I think I figured out some dream crystal things, but it might require a more... ambient dream energy. Dunno how THAT is gonna be harnessed yet, but I need to know my many sleepless nights and curryless days weren't for nothing. Testing on my own stuff is fine, but knowing it's not just a fluke is even better.

It could be worse, Futaba-chan. You could have fallen into a deep sleep instead. I know some who have.
As for your question, I am perhaps not the person to ask, but maybe I can help with the supply of ambient dream energy. [ She's... somehow pretty good at harnessing positive dreamotion? ]
Can you tell me more about the crystals?
no subject
[She can sleep so hard, she could probably be a professional sleeper if she really wanted to!
Ooh, but that sounds promising...]
Yeah— so a while back when we first got here, Kazuma and a few others found some old appliances that had crystals in them instead of electrical plugs. I've had my hands on some for a while now, figured out how to connect 'em to an electronic like my laptop, and we knew they worked with dream energy. The crystals react to positive dreamotion, and when I have some good dreams I'll find my laptop fully charged if I have one of the crystals plugged in. It can stay charged for about a day, but if there's a source of energy that's just constant... it might be able to power more than just a laptop.

If you need help with Dreamotion, I can volunteer for that as well. Just tell me what you think might work.
no subject
I can kinda do the dreamy thing, but do you just... generate Dreamotion? Without thinking about it? I don't want to be like 'hey you can power the town' but if that's a thing, that can be something we can work on slowly!

Can't say I'm an expert at these things though. I did figure out how to work some of the dream crystal stuff so we can do something with that if you want.
no subject
I do have a laptop we can test stuff on, and having other crystals tested on my own equipment would be good to see how something not of my own creation would work on things.
Though, uh, I'm not really great with people, so if I seem kinda nervous, it's not you, it's me.

This was the worst idea he'd ever had and he'd had a lot of bad ideas.
i still have my phone
Good start. Good start. Neutral topic. Something she wants. Fuck. Horrible idea end of the world. There's also a takeout place not far from here. I can provide curry if you don't mind it being a little shit
no no no no-If I come over can we
nonononono-talk?
Akechi breathed outward, as he set the pen down. It was done. It was done and now the ball was in her court and she could tell him to fuck off and he could say he'd tried and he didn't have to think about this anymore.
no subject
...and I thought you wouldn't want me to touch your phone. Eh, you can watch me with it I guess.
...though, it is a little strange that he wants to talk. She won't say no but she can probably be nice. Probably.
Yeah. But there has to be curry and if your phone is dead, even better.

Still, Sumire's response is eager, and excited: ]
Futaba-senpai!
I arrived while you were in your room, but the others told me that you're here. It's so good to hear from you!
I have my cell phone here, so if you need to use it, I don't mind at all. It's the least I can do in order to support you!
[ It's only after she finishes writing it out that Sumire remembers she's meant to be trying for a little less formality with the other girl, but... well, it's a little late to erase the whole thing and start again, right? ]
no subject
[MORE FRIENDS! People she knows and is comfortable around is always a plus for Futaba, makes trying to be normal (or what counts as 'normal' for her) around others a lot easier.]
If you don't mind me poking around on it, yeah! I have something that can plug in like a charging cable. If you know a little of the dreamy thing, that can help too, but no worries if you don't. I'm still bad with it and I've been here for like, a year or something.
[Then again, Futaba hasn't really tried to learn it yet, but they can always learn together!]
little late on the reply due to traveling!! but I'm here! :3

but on the whole bedroom cocoon? yeah... been there done that got the same shitty nightshirt that smells like i died in it
sounds like you got shit done anyhow... so... worth it? right?
if you needed space you needed space. you wanna get back out there get back out there. just do you. good?
no subject
I can't promise it'll stay charged for long, but that's what I'm trying to figure out. I'd like to actually use my laptop for anything else besides a nice-looking paperweight.
Yeah! It was worth it, and this time I didn't even pass out for the rest of a month, so that's progress too. I'm sure it'll happen eventually, just how I roll. Dealing with people or getting super focused on something'll do that.

[ Hi, Futaba-- ]
I might be able to persuade a very good friend of mine to maybe let you use his tech. If he still has it on him, at least.
[ She knows damn well Seto has his duel disk and she also knows damn well that he's going to huff and puff and flail at her at even mentioning it, but... well. She has to try. ]
no subject
[Oh, this does sound promising though...]
What is it? If it's something that runs on power I can probably charge it, but if it's something else, I can always take a look at it.

I've never done that. I'm a highly time conscious person, and I prefer to optimize every second of it. [Now if she'd asked "have you ever worked long hours or yourself to the point of exhaustion" the answer would have been yes] So you'll understand if I get right to the point. Are you saying that you've found a way to get electronics to function here?
[That's something Kaiba had wanted to tinker with but he'd been a little too preoccupied by the whole... dragon thing. It hasn't even dawned on him that the original sender's name should be familiar to him.]
no subject
Kind of. It's not perfect and there's no way to catch any ambient dreamotion yet, that's mainly what I'm working on now, but my own stuff is charged up. That's why I wanna see if my own weak dreamotion can charge other stuff.

And I still have my cellphone from the last place I was at before. It does run on electricity, but it also used this weird kind of magic-tech? So I'm not sure how different it would be from a regular cellphone.

Eheh at least it sounds like I'm not too weird... sometimes I worry if I'm too weird for people, but since others seem to do the same... kinda... maybe I'm not TOO weird.

Sometimes these research times end up being sleep times for me. I've slept like an entire month before, only really getting up to eat a snack or whatever and then pass right back out. I'm nothing if dedicated, I guess.

What the fuck is a laptop?
[EDUCATE HER]
no subject
[But does that mean she probably... doesn't... know what a PC is?
...
Well, here goes.]
It's a machine that you can get a bunch of information from, provided you have the tech to do that, but it can do calculations and stuff for you so you don't have to do the math parts if you don't wanna. Places like NASA use 'em to plot out trips to space. [Wait shit does KainΓ© know what NASA is.....] I can... explain that one later if I need.
