You ever just.

Lock yourself in your room for like a month and forget what time is? I mean, I guess I ate at least, and I didn't just fall asleep for a whole freakin' month like after the Medjed thing but

like

a whole. Month. Least it was fruitful.

Which uh, leads me to my actual question: who has some technology here with 'em? Phones, laptops, things that require a power source cause I think I figured out some dream crystal things, but it might require a more... ambient dream energy. Dunno how THAT is gonna be harnessed yet, but I need to know my many sleepless nights and curryless days weren't for nothing. Testing on my own stuff is fine, but knowing it's not just a fluke is even better.

I mean, others are working on things too so I only have theories and stuff to run on, it's not like there's a bunch of me here to test every known thing. It works well enough to piggyback on to building something, but I doubt the supplies to build dream panel energy are just lying around here.

Both. I can use my laptop just fine, it's like a battery charge right now, crystals are only so big and can only hold so much. It's like a small battery pack, but the bigger the crystal, the bigger the charge. There were a lot of old appliances in some of the ruined buildings before we built up from nothing, so I've got a bunch and I've been messing with them since... uh... last year? Dunno how long they were around, but they don't seem to have broken or anything, and I've been pretty rigorous in my testing of them.

I haven't been here for very long, are you referring to the crystals inside that lantern that spontaneously appeared after arrival, or something else? [Ok, so.. he just thought the decorative bobbles were just that. He definitely doesn't understand their purpose yet. That bit about having to build up from nothing wasn't something he fully understood either.. and didn't there have to have been something here before for there have been old appliances? The locals didn't seem all that technologically inclined to him... so there were just bits and pieces that didn't seem to line up.] So this place has been without electricity or a like facsimile for at least... a year now. [Yikes, that sure isn't something he likes to hear considering all of his success was from forwarding technology dependent on a steady energy supply]

Different ones. I dunno where they came from, where whoever was here before got it. I don't doubt it's from somewhere close, but we haven't found it yet.

Yep. Just like the stone ages here, been real great. [Sarcasm, she really hasn't liked the lack of tech, but it's been a fun exercise in trying to get it to work, though!] Everything was covered in a nice dust when we found everything, surprised these even still worked.

That means there isn't a steady supply of these crystals, so theoretically your inventory is limited. Once the crystal is drained, is it able to regain power itself or have you never managed to exhaust one entirely?

Sounds more like a nightmare. [The withdrawal effects hadn't entirely hit him yet, but apparently that was inevitable] It all depends on how it was built, and just how long it's actually been lying around. Dust can accumulate swiftly depending on the environment

Theoretically, yes. Now that I'm thinking of it though, I may be able to see if we can't find where whoever was here first got them. They didn't just appear out of nowhere, so they had to come from somewhere. As for the crystal being drained and refilled, yeah. It's almost like a lithium battery built into something that can plug into whatever you want to charge, just... crystal-shaped. Modifying the crystal to be able to do that was a pain, but now that I know how to do it, it wouldn't take long for me to keep doing.

Heh, I mean... it was certainly mine for a while. No tech? No phones? No laptop? NO INTERNET? That's the worst. Since I don't know how long it was abandoned for, it's hard to guess how much life these babies still have in them, but for now until we can find their actual source, this'll do.

At least the last place had a network, working tablets, and technology capable of producing holograms.. though in many ways it was also primitive. [This was not in fact the first odd dimensional plane he'd ever been thrust into] Do you have the coordinates for where the items were found? Even if it's been rebuilt since then there might be something that's remained that might give us a clue as to how they used to be powered.

The Index wasn't too bad... we had power and not candles at least, but still journals like this. I'd take wherever you were over here in tech, for sure.

Most of the abandoned buildings had them, I dunno how much has been cleared out, but I cleared a bunch out. They were all in the town itself, so whatever hasn't been repurposed into new businesses or whatever will probably have some stuff hidden. I haven't found much else, but you might find something I didn't, different sets of eyes and all. There weren't any outlets or anything that I saw, but I didn't rip open walls to look for power lines. I don't have that kinda strength.

I'm not familiar with the Index, and I doubt you've ever heard of Havenwell.

It's something worth looking into. Would it be possible to see the electronic devices you already found?

[Sure, this had started out with Futaba asking for others to offer up their own devices for her experiment but, Kaiba was just trying to ensure that he got something out of the deal too... besides a temporary charge that would still run itself down without another boost from her..]

I'm just curious how much they might differ from the technology I'm already familiar with.

Sure. They're pretty different, so I've had to make modifications to fit my laptop and any other device that needs charges. Like swapping out USBs, almost. I'm, uh, admittedly not great with people in person, so if I seem nervous, I am.

[She's... really not great with people, but she's gotten better. Still nervous but maybe it won't be so bad talking tech with someone.]

I can probably send a crystal home with you, but you'd have to charge it yourself with your own dreamotion. It seems to charge while I'm asleep, so you wouldn't have to do much, but I really wanna find more of these to make life easier. Being stuck in the dark ages is really boring sometimes. Fun to build stuff, not fun to not have the tech to do it easily.
