[Short and hurried scribbles, but it's a message in the journal anyway.]

I thought I saw tracks a while ago and I was right! Guys, there are chocobos here!

Be back in a bit, I'm going to get some greens!

What's a chocobo? Something you're hunting?

Not hunting. I'm catching one to ride.

Neat, so they're what, like horses?

[tantailizing]

Yeah! The yellow ones are good for land travel, but if you can catch one of the colored ones, they can travel across different terrains! Like, red ones will get you up mountains fast, but the blue ones will cross rivers or even the ocean!

What are those?

They're giant birds people tame and ride in my world. I'd draw a picture, but I'm in the middle of this.

Birds big enough that you can ride??

I've never heard of such a thing.

Yup! The chickens in the forest are too, but eh, it's not the same as a chocobo.

But don't tell Roost I said that. I'll explain it to him at some point.

[ ...so he knows that people have already mentioned it, but he feels it bears repeating. ]

I don't think I've ever heard of such a thing.

All good! Seems like a lot of people don't know, but they're kind of like 'horses' in other worlds.

Greens? Like lettuce? Or cabbage? Or...

Those could work, but their favorite food is a vegetable called Gysahl Greens. If they're here, that's gotta be around somewhere.

Hm. Are we able to eat those greens too, or do they solely exist to feed your chocobos?

Nah, they're edible. I know this old lady back home sells them pickled and she insists the stronger the smell, the better they taste. I haven't tried them because I know if you force someone that's been magically enraged to eat it normally, they snap out of it.

I've never seen one, but a friend of mine used to talk about hers.

[ So Vanitas would be very interested in seeing it? Just for a point of reference of course. ]

Really? Guess I'll have to show you this one!

Yup! Though, don't call them horse birds directly, they might not get it.
