Kinda like lawyers, in a way. Only less exorcising spirits and more paperwork, probably.

Perhaps, but doing paperwork doesn't quite have the same weight as putting your own life at risk. Some might even say my profession is a necessary evil, depending on who you talk to.

We're not perfect, and sometimes the law lets the true culprit slip through the cracks.

I don't know much about law myself, other than what I hear about in the news. It must really suck if a criminal gets away on some technicality, huh?

Is that when you go samurai on them?

Unfortunately, that would put me in jail. The best I can do is change the system from the inside, so the right people always get the justice they deserve.

Although, I did cleanly sliced through my opponent's topknot once. From across the room.

Omg seriously? First off how did you even sneak a katana into the courtroom, and second how did he react. Please tell me he pissed himself or something.

Times have changed. We fight with words instead of blades, if possible.

I come from a long line of well respected samurai, so they wouldn't remove my katana. Eitherway, I would never separate myself from my katana, for it carries my family's will and spirit. As for my opponent, he did not wet himself, but he passed out on the floor and needed assistance to remove him.

He was a foolish man, unfit to study law.

Damn you really are a samurai. That's some dedication right there, really cool. It makes me wonder how well you'd do against my friends in a fight; I got one who can use almost every weapon under the sun, and another who's got a katana of his own.

He sure sounds like a foolish guy, though. He kinda deserved it if you ask me.

Oh? Well, consider me interested in a sparring match should I ever see them. What do they look like and their names?

He couldn't accept defeat in a graceful manner and cursed my best friend. Naturally, I couldn't let it slide.

Their names are Yuuta and Maki. Maki's a tall girl with glasses and a ponytail, usually looking to pick a fight. Yuuta's a tall guy with a white shirt and bags under his eyes. If they ever show up I'll point em out to you.

Damn. He called you out and you called his bluff. You really do have a Bushido code, huh?

I was simply doing what I thought was right. You'd stand up for your friends if they've been bad mouthed, right?

I would, yeah. There's a saying in my world that goes "talk shit, get hit." It's an ancient rule that probably goes back centuries, so I'd say what you did was totally in line with it.

[He's bullshitting about that rule, but it's not entirely wrong. He's protected his friends in the past, and he'd do it again.]
