Most people here haven't. "Elemental spirit" is the closest comparison I've thought of.

I was waiting for my best friend and partner. I'm fortunate enough to have been given a reprieve from it, though, as I found him here.

Fate? Maybe. So much of what happened in our lives seems fated.
