aight i know everyones all down about what happened coupla weeks ago and i dont blame ya
all sorts of shit was going on
but i aint seen no one hyped about what happened either
we just gave the story eater a FREAKING beatdown yo!
i dunno about yall but thats gotta be worth celebrating right?

so i was thinking about how we can do that and i been looking at this big ass wall around the markets
its like a huge canvas cause there aint nothing on it so we can totally do something with that
like write or draw or paint something to remember that we kicked that story eaters ass big time!

yea that sounds like a good idea right?
imma bring the paint sprays brushes and all sorts of stuff so we can do that
yall just gotta get your ass there and show up

[Then there's a quick pause before Beat comes back to messily scrawl something at the bottom of the page.]

friday! we doing this this friday
imma make a huge sign so no one misses it!

[ooc: And this is the IC invitation for the commemoration wall going up during the TDM. There's no need to interact with this to be able to participate then!]

Yeah, sure. Jus' take a seat. I'mma be right with ya.

[He directs her towards the front steps of his treehouse, the same spot they shared tea together after one of his dreams. Placing the basket on one of the steps, he returns to where he had dropped all his materials, moving it to the side where it wouldn't obscure anyone's way.]

Aight, that should be good. [He takes a seat on the steps, reaching in for one of the buns and immediately taking a bite… only to find that it was still warmer than he expected.] Ah, shit! Hot!

[Just going to fan his mouth with his hand now.]

[ Susato hesitated as she watched him move everything to the side, wondering if she shouldn't help, but she settles for taking that seat. She still looks as she's ready to jump in at any second to assist, but she may have let her guard down once he joined her. Her back straightens at his outburst, and she scolds him gently: ]

Careful! [ She fumbles as if she's searching for something, and eventually produces some napkins from her kimono sleeves. ] I, I thought you would appreciate meat fillings more than the sweet ones.

[ ......A pause. As if remembering something, she opens up a separate compartment in the basket and grabs a water bottle from within, which still seems to be cold. Ice packs are amazing. ]

[stillarhino]

[He takes the bottle that she offers, nodding at Susato as thanks before cracking it open. He takes a long sip from it, letting out a satisfied breath when he finishes, wiping his mouth with the back of his hand.]

You's right 'bout the meat. Jus' didn't think it was still that hot.

[He chuckles lightly despite himself.]

[ She'll watch him. Once he seems to settle, the chuckle earns one out of Susato in return, and she finally reaches for a bun herself, another napkin in hand. She blows on it slightly to try and cool it. ]

My dreamotion helps me keep our food warm and fresh at times. But I suppose I must be careful, too.

[ No burning the customers. As she eats, her eyes meander to the supplies, as if sizing up all they have to work with. ]

[He does the same, blowing the bun for it to cool taking another bite. Now that it wasn't scorching, he could enjoy the taste better. Noticing Susato's gaze move to the materials he'd set aside, he offers a bit of an explanation for what she had volunteered for.]

I ain't thinkin' of anythin' fancy, really. Jus' a sign that everyone can see, you know?

[judicialassistant]

[ Susato nods in agreement, careful to swallow before speaking again like a proper lady. ]

I was thinking it would be quite eye catching if you drew something as well. [ She's seen his sketchbook. In fact, she'd love to see it again, but she'll make a note to ask about it sometime later. ]

[stillarhino]

Some kinda drawing, huh?

[He hadn't thought about that when he first made the suggestion. Thinking on it, he takes some time to tear some of the bun's breading, holding it out for Hachiko to nibble on.]

Like the Story Eater getting smacked in the head with a hammer?

[He doesn't know if that actually happened but he's seen animé that's done similarly before.]

[ She laughs, watching Hachiko's tail start to wag as he enjoys the bread stained with some sauce from the meat. Once he swallows (which naturally takes about two seconds), he will naturally beg for more by sitting obediently. ]

Yes! Like one of your sketches, or... s, skate boards.

What did you call them again? Decks?

[stillarhino]

[Too bad sitting obediently takes the entirety of three seconds before he starts pawing at Beat's leg for more. And, because this is Beat we're talking about, he relents pretty quickly and gives him another piece.]

Yeah. You's startin' to get it, Loops.

Next thing we know, we gettin' you on one a' 'em too.

[Oh, what he'd give to see her do that.]

[ Super heartwarming to be sure, but Susato does appear to be eying the pair to ensure that Beat isn't spoiling him rotten. She perks up at the sudden turnaround of the topic onto her— ]

Oh! I don't know about that...

[ It's not a no. ]

I think I would make a fool of myself.

[stillarhino]

[Even as Hachiko scarfs the piece down too, Beat doesn't give him another one, gesturing to the canine that he wasn't getting more. He had to eat some of these too.]

Scared of wipin' out?

[He chuckles lightly. The idea of someone as proper as Susato taking a spill definitely makes for a funny image in his mind.]

I been skatin' since I was a kid and still land on my ass.

[ Hmmm... ]

If that means falling or otherwise losing my balance, then yes. Though, I suppose with some proper safety equipment it may not be so bad...

[ Something to protect her knees and elbows, perhaps? Iris would know.

...But they're getting a little distracted. ]

We can get gear for ya. Ain't gonna let ya fall an' crack your head open.

[He moves to place his hand on Susato's head, giving her hair an affectionate ruffle.]

Thinkin' 'bout what you said though for the sign. Dunno if I'd put it on a deck, but whatchu think of the words lookin' like it's bein' sprayed on?

[That's the best he's come up with in the moment.]

[ Such an experience would be sure to turn her off forever! But perhaps she'll appreciate the thrill when the time comes, just so long as she doesn't careen her way into someone's trash.

Anyway, ]

Oh, I think I've read of such a thing recently! What was it, "graffiti" ... I think? Well, I suppose the whole wall would count. But that could work.

Short and sweet would be best for a sign. Perhaps: "Commemoration Wall Here."

[As the two of them talked, the idea began to take shape in his mind.]

Yeah, yeah. I see what we can go for. [A beat.] Gimme a sec.

[Beat bounds back into his tree house, coming back out a minute later with his sketchbook and a pencil. He settles back down on the stairs and starts working on what he had in mind before he forgets. All the while, he picks up another bun or two to eat with his free hand.

It takes him a couple of minutes but when he's done, he holds up the sketchbook for Susato to see.]

How's somethin' like this look?

[The text she has suggested were front and center in bold letters, written in a graffiti-style tag with an outline to help it stand out. It reads: "Commemuratyon Wall Here".

Behind the words is a brick style background with stray markings here and there to represent the graffiti. The colors are laid out by lines and arrows with the color guide messily scrawled on in Beat's handwriting.]

[ Susato only watches as Hachiko dutifully follows his master. She might sneak a bite or two of a sweet bun roll as Beat sketches furiously, and it's like she's kind of torn on what to do? Is it rude to watch him as he works?

In the end, she doesn't want to distract him, so she doesn't say anything. She'll wait until he shows it. ]

It's quite eye-catching! Your handwriting works very well for this style, actually. Although...

[ Hmmm. Suddenly there's a pen in her hand, probably one she keeps in her hammerspace kimono sleeves. Not only that, but she doesn't want to write directly on his work, so she's forced to pull out her current trusty notebook as well.

She turns to a blank page. ]

I believe it is spelled: com - me - mo - ra - tion. [ She writes each syllable as she speaks it, then turns her notebook so that he can see. ]

[Beat looks at the page she holds up and erases the center of the sketch. There's a small back and forth of him staring at his own page and Susato's making sure that he gets it right as he fills the sketch back in.

Finally, he has the correct spelling of the word written on his.]

Okay. How's that look?

Perfect!

[ Other than that, she really doesn't have any room to nitpick? She does take a moment to glance over his sketch, however, just to see if there is anything she can add. Perhaps she'll have more ideas once they take the idea from sketch to canvas. ]

Truly your own personal touch. Perhaps I can help when it comes time to color the final product? And... Hmm.

[ ...She pauses for a moment, tracing her own pen to his sketch, but without making any mark to it. No one ever said she couldn't add her own personal touch as well, so after a moment, she finds the end of the word "Here" and draws a few sakura blossoms. ]

Gonna need help with more than the color, yo! But this a lot better than what I thought of at first.

[What was, you know, a literal sign.

He watches as she adds a little bit more flourish towards the end of the words, chuckling when he sees the sakura begin to take shape. It fits Susato all too well.]

Tha's totally you, yo. If you wanna add more, go for it, aight? This is our sign now.

[ It is the Mikotoba family crest, after all. Susato looks on proudly: the sakura blossoms are not too overt as to overtake his style, but its presence can definitely be felt.

Appropriate. ]
