In my village, the one coming of age had to go out and prove their best skills. This could be their first time hunting alone, fishing, crafting, cooking a special meal. Sometimes the older adults would join to observe or assist if necessary, but often this was done alone.

The village would also throw a large celebration for that year. It was usually timed after the youngest of the year, so smaller gatherings would be held for the birthdays earlier in. Engagements often happened around this time as well.

Weeeeeeeeell I don't know about tradition but we threw a big party for all the kids in my age group at the start of the year when I turned 17. It was actually a super good time. Dancing, music, everybody got to dress up nice. It was fun. <3

in latino families they do this thing called quinceañeras when you turn 15 to mark adulthood, its like this whole big event, with fancy outfits, huge party with the whole town, etc etc

its usually for girls though but ive seen it done for guys too
