Hard to believe that at the end of this month, it will have been two years since this little dream world started pulling us all into it. Quite a marvel, isn't it? I certainly hadn't expected it to last this long!

Now I'd hoped to have a little surprise I'd had planned for Reverein finished by our two-year anniversary, but our rather rude guest a few months ago pushed back several plans!

Back in Hell, I was often-times referred to as "The Radio Demon" due to my powers over the radiowaves. I've been working with Miss Madhuri and her charming husband on perfecting a means of producing radios here in Reverein, but I ask you this: What fun is there in a radio with only one channel? None, that's what!

I've been working with some of the people at the Observatory to develop the technology for others to broadcast without having to rely solely on my powers, and we're ready to begin construction on a brand-new radio station specially designed for Reverein! One of the advantages to a world of magic and imagination: No need to make a radio tower look like hideous scaffolding! Absolutely delightful! Perhaps someday more towers will be built to connect us to Dragon Island or even places farther afield!

The project should be finished next month, so there's plenty of time to get your hands on a radio of your own to hear the inaugural broadcast!

I'm aware. The internet is more common than radio where and when I'm from, so naturally my thoughts went there.

I suppose. Educational shows, interviews, music... is it easy to get instruments here, by the way? I assume they're expensive...

Depends on the methodology. People have been able to make instruments here or trade their baubles with that blasted well for those not found here. However, it keeps spitting out mine whenever I attempt to bring my Furby organ in.

... I suppose it's an instrument only a demon could love.

A shame, though. I've learned various instruments in my time. I'm more of a computer programmer nowadays, but I know my way around most instruments.

It works wonders when getting certain sound-sensitive demons to tell me things I want to know.

Fortunately I haven't had nearly as many problems getting my other favored instruments: piano, trumpet, saxophone, and violin. Might I ask what you play?

I'm quite sure it does. I've seen videos of it.

I've had training the most in piano and violin, but I'm fairly good with most anything. I've had a very very long time to get good at a lot of things.

Same, same! One of the advantages to being dead, I suppose!

I have the opposite problem (and advantage) - not staying dead.

And I take it you're not referring to some form of afterlife?

[crouching_sin]

No. I skip the 'lose your memories' part and go straight onto the 'reborn in a new body' part. I can't claim to be as old as some demons, but I'm quite old compared to a normal human.

Ah, so the afterlife is more reincarntion where you're from! Fascinating! Is it like how some cultures believe that the actions taken in one life can affect the circumstances in the next one?

Not as far as I've been aware. It's generally a clean slate, though some small habits remaining isn't totally unheard of.

Fascinating! Yet you said you yourself weren't subject to that. Any particular reason why?

Well, I happen to be cursed by God Himself. It's very frustrating.

Impressive! Not many can anger The Creator to such an extent!

Being the 'first' person to murder someone else and Him needing someone to serve as an example has its... disadvantages.

So am I correct in asking that your original name was "Cain"? Or perhaps I'm thinking of a different story.

No, you're quite right. Naoya is just what I was named in this lifetime.

Which would you prefer? Your current or original name?

Naoya suits me fine. It's what most people know me as. ... Though I suppose the ones that don't are mostly demons, now that I think about it. But it'll be less confusing. And if someone from my world shows up they might not understand the latter.
