As for removing gum from your hair use vinegar, a lot of vinegar, and wait until it softens up enough to be gently removed with a wide-toothed comb.

There is no need to thank me. My little brothers experimented with gum-like substances a lot when they were young, learning how to disentangle such things from hair was a necessity.
Ah. You might just have to endure the smell for some time, it does take a while to dissapear completely.

Yeah, I would just be careful with HOW cold though... Pretty sure extreme cold can make things pretty brittle. At least that's what I read in the books on the ship when I was young.
