[He's still getting the hang of this journal stuff, though admittedly the thought of it reminds him of older times and the legible feelings belonging to his wife in her final days. Nier's writing isn't particularly great. Not quite chicken scratch, but not impressive by any means.]

Not really sure how this works. Guess you just write stuff down.

I haven't been here long. Still getting to know the area. The people.

Name's Nier. I know there's another Nier here. I'm older than him, so call me 'Old Man,' or whatever. We aren't the same.

I did jobs for the people back home and I'm planning to keep myself busy. If you have something that needs doing, I'm your man.

There's all kinds of shit around here that needs killing. Noctrae and Erasers are the nastiest of them, so I'm told. This place could benefit from a couple of experts out in the field.
We'll talk about the details in person, I don't feel like writing all of that crap out.

It's fucking exhausting. At least this way is more reliable than letters.

There's a place in the town called Dreambucks? Stupid name, but you can get some good shit to drink there. Way better than the muddy water that gets passed off for tea back home.

We can meet there. But I bet if you ordered tea from there, you'd get the same thing you get back home.

At least here it tastes like something. Water's better or something like that. Still just water and leaves, though.

[She probably just doesn't like tea. She also hasn't had the opportunity to brew tea in an actual kitchen in a long, long while.]
