[Ryu’s been thinking. There’s been talk about ‘holidays’ and stuff like that, but he’s… confused. Let alone being confused that the same place can have such different weather, but the snow outside is secondary to his thoughts at the moment.]

[He starts writing in his usual messy handwriting, the words appearing in spurts as he thinks about what he’s trying to say.]

what’s a holiday?? and um

i understand the idea of years but what is ‘new years’

also is it just me or is there a lot of snow tonight?? i hate it im no good with the cold…..

New Year's is about celebrating the coming of a new year, a clean slate with new opportunities! There are no holidays at all where you're from, Ryu?

very much so shes the one who found me in the desert when i appeared and shes taught me a lot about a lot of things

without her i dont know if id even be able to read or write at all

and that does sound fun!! i like learning about how people live

Holidays are typically a day of festivity, to celebrate something, usually a significant event.

New Years celebrates just that, a New Year. So we've reached the end of an old year and a new one is starting.

Do you have somewhere warm to be, Ryu?

and its just weird for me i guess since i havent even been alive a year it probably doesnt mean much to my other half since hes very old but im not

i have my treehouse but its not as warm as id like ive got blankets and stuff to keep myself warm but the cold afects me worse than other people i think

id start a fire but i dont thinka campfire is good inside of a tree

and yes im half of a god.. the other half of me was summoned when the ritual happened hundreds of years ago and is still alive

anyway, to answer your question, new years is a holiday where we celebrate the end of the previous year by setting an effigy on fire. a huge one! preferably of someone who caused you problems this year!

i'm going to make one of this loser i know who dresses like a groom all the time and has really ugly, caterpillar eyebrows and no friends.

hey! i have a lot of friends with bad fashion sense that didn't have friends before i met them! some of them are a little sad but it's not like i'm the sort of girl to hold it against them!

what i listed was only the tip of why he's dislike-able. any friendship offers aren't even on the table until he's fixed his messed up personality and grovelled for forgiveness for every thing he's done.
