I'm already decent with social media like Facebook and Twitter, but social media in an actual book? Kinda weird!
There isn't even an internet here! Or at least my phone isn't getting any reception at all, not shocking.
Which brings me to a huge question. I flipped through this thing and saw that people found these power crystal things? I think they said something about powering stuff but slowly? Does that mean we had something like electricity because I'm probably gonna start missing central heating if this snow keeps up.
Also, why are all the houses trees and treehouses? I'm used to having a nice view out the window, but penthouses don't usually come with fruit and giant bugs.

You don't have to live in a tree. There are plenty of abandoned buildings within the town itself if you want to put in the time and effort to make one liveable.
no subject
So my options are creepy abandoned house or treehouse?
no subject
It won't be abandoned any more if you move in.
no subject
Doesn't make it any less creepy and gross, which means I might as well live in a tree. I guess.
no subject
You can live in a tree, you can put in some work to fix up one of the empty houses, or you can build a new house. Those are your options as they currently stand.
no subject
Got it. I'll keep that in mind when I go house hunting in a bit.
[ As in he's definitely going for a tree because he is twelve and has zero house-flipping experience. ]

There are decrepit big buildings out there but none of them are also designed to be a house. They also probably have spiders the size of tanks inside so you aren't winning, either way. There isn't a normal animal or insect that exists here.
no subject
Yeah, that's what I'm getting from past posts. And yeah, there's this neat invention that heats your house without going out to get logs all the time.
Guess fireplace is better than dark ages though. [ There's a tiny doodle of a stick figure shrugging. Hunter wants his emojis back. ]
Also, about the wildlife here: Does the magic powers thing apply to all the animals too, or were the weird mistletoe slugs a one time thing?
oh my god dw ate this during one of its fits, i'm so sorry
Will probably take a lot of magic or supplies or stones, whatever they use here.
The slugs themselves were a one time thing (unless they just stashed them somewhere, wouldn't surprise me). There ARE other annoying magic creatures though. Don't assume any animal is normal and/or doesn't do something stupid to you. I'm used to plants having ridiculous magical properties, but the absurd animals are a vaguely new touch.
(Except for six legged horses which are really uncanny and weird.)
❰ he's got some pent up frustrations, so the rambling will definitely commence. ❱
All good, pal.
[ And then Hunter's hit with a wall of text. Writing. Whatever, he kind of glossed over the paragraph here. ]
So you're saying all the animals and plants here are magical/weird? Thanks for the heads up.

A grasshopper the size of a carriage landed on my house's tree this morning and shook some of the roof loose. It's a nightmare. And they're HIDEOUS.
❰ with an included sketch of said bug's face — well-done for a quick doodle, but perhaps a smidge exaggerated. ❱

OK I get it, you don't like giant bugs. Anything else I need to know?

Your phone won't get reception. But you can still use it to access apps, photos, and music already installed on your device.
However, the battery is fueled by your magic. Be careful not to tire yourself.
no subject
Cool, I can still take photos with it. But what do you mean "fueled by my magic?" Is this another weird dream-motion thing?

Until they succeed, use your imagination.
no subject
Gotcha. In the meantime, mind telling me how she got her laptop here? Like, was she using it before she got here, or did she somehow will that into existence?
[ Because he may as well get his back at some point, whenever someone invents actual chargers. ]
no subject
But a few months ago, we received something. Hold on.
[ Tenn can't snap a picture to send, but his own imagination is plenty good enough. After a moment, an image of a sparkly little globe appears on the paper. ]
Sometimes after a dreamshift, these appear near our pillow. If you throw one into the Wishing Well and ask for something from your home, you might get it.
no subject
Dude, how'd you do the picture thing just now?
no subject
It's another use of dreamotion. Think of something, and when you can picture it clearly in your mind, hold your quill over the page.
It's like copy and paste. Try it.
no subject
[ He tries to imagine something he thinks won't be too... What's the word? Incriminating? So he winds up putting the image of a random tree on the page. ]
Woah, this is actually pretty cool!

You’re picking this up quickly.

(Apologies in advance, Anya is from the 1920’s and has zero knowledge on 21st century tech.)
Well, you don’t have to live in a treehouse while in Reverein though. There are plenty of abandoned buildings and houses for you to pick from and make them into a more livable home.
no subject
[ Hunter didn't expect to run into a time traveler, okay? ]
Yeah, I've heard about that already. Problem is, I don't know how to renovate a run-down house, so that limits my options.
no subject
Well, you can always ask for help to get the house to a more livable state, even using a little bit of dreamotion energy.
I will admit to say that renovating a house or a treehouse is not a one person job: when me and the first batch of deamwalkers came here months ago, we had to team up in order to get the treehouses in good shape and make good use of our skills to help each other.
no subject
He also didn't realize he could just ask for help here. The thought just... Never occurred to him for some reason. And even now he feels kind of weird about letting someone he barely even knows into where his house is gonna be.
It takes a while to respond. ]
So... What's the situation with the treehouses now? Are most of the unoccupied ones still in need of repairs?
no subject
If you stay long in here for long, the interior does change to reflect the resident inside the treehouse through the influence of the dreamotion energy.
no subject
[ If the interiors eventually change, that means it might turn into his old penthouse! Sort of. Eventually.
Better than nothing. ]

Say, if you happen to find torn curtains, beddings, and rugs that need repairing in your treehouse or needing to find new clothes, you can come over to Madame Blackbird’s shop, I work in there as an apprentice right now.
Oh by the way, before I forget, my name is Anya. What’s yours?
no subject
Is Madame Blackbird the resident tailor? 'Cause if this cold keeps up, I'm gonna need some new threads.
[ The jacket he wears is good for autumn, but not winter. Plus... Like it or not, his family is involved in the fashion industry. Let's just hope this Madame Blackbird person isn't like his great aunt... ]
I'm Hunter. Not that we needed to introduce ourselves since this thing tacks our names to the posts.

[ He realizes Google Play isn't gonna work here, but he's also assuming no one else got to bring their wallets... So what's the economy like? ]
no subject
One heavily armored fellow had once gave me a potion after I found ropes for him at the backroom of the shop.
no subject
OK then, what does she usually ask for in return for new clothes?

And where are we supposed to get those? Is there a fabric store somewhere or what?

[ Ooookay, this could be worse. ]

(She doesn’t know if their moods can affect the trading part though.)
no subject
That's neat. I guess.
[ Is Hunter's life just gonna get weirder from here, or has he somehow completely lost his mind? ]
