I was writing up menu ideas for next month and a thought occurred:

Should I list hot dogs under 'sandwiches', and a bowl of cereal under 'soup'?

Not sure on the soup, but given the bread is connected for the hot dog, wouldn't that make it some sort of taco?

So you're saying a taco could also be considered a sandwich.

I wouldn't say that. Sandwiches typically have the filling between two separate pieces of bread. The shell of a taco is all one piece.

But a tortilla-wrapped bunch of ingredients is considered a sandwich too, and that's one starch surrounding the filling in one piece.

Ah, but wraps are typically listed in their own section on a menu. Or if they're in the same section as sandwiches, the section is labeled "Sandwiches and Wraps".

But why do you think they try and put them together? Seems like they meet a similar category of food, which is a handheld meal in a starch.

Typically they use the same fillings so the wrap becomes an alternate option.

And by your logic, a taco is also a sandwich.

Bingo. Tacos = sandwiches. Now I think of filled buns... they could also be sandwiches.

If I fill a cornbread bun with jambalaya? Nawlins Sandwich.

I'd have to modify my cornbread recipe to make that possible. Jambalaya isn't a dry food, after all. The cornbread would turn to mush.

I've seen many a roll made with finely-ground cornmeal. I'm sure a silkier texture can loan to the experience that is jambalaya. Picture it: A warm and cozy pillow of baked gold in your hands and you bite in, and get the shrimp, the sausage, the rice, the lovely spices all without need of a utensil! Ribbons of steam rise from that bite, inviting you to take just one more bite, just one more...!

You take a stroll through the woods, marvel at every splendor, all while the flavors dance away on your tongue!

Ha! And I thought I had a way with words!

Darling, you don't need to convince me! I adore jambalaya! My ancestors are likely turning in their graves, but I was sold the minute you proposed the ability to eat it even on the go!

Ever the busy demon! Goodness, what else might you need mobile to help facilitate your lifestyle?

I don't know if "busy" is the word for it. I simply like to wander quite far from town. Helps keep the areas around Reverein from getting picked clean of any useful plants or edible game. Being able to have a hearty meal while ranging so far is useful.

I'd suggest gumbo, but that's more for a thermos than contained inside of bread. Sadly, we're lacking in those here.

That word is new to me. What's a thermos?

A metal cylindrical container with two caps: One screws directly into the container to keep any liquids inside while the other covers the first cap and can double as a cup to pour the liquid into. Helps keep the liquid inside warm or cool for a bit longer.
