I was writing up menu ideas for next month and a thought occurred:

Should I list hot dogs under 'sandwiches', and a bowl of cereal under 'soup'?

dopplegangers tend to do this, or so i've heard in stories. soup and cereal probably hear about each other all the time!

Or either cereal OR soup was developed by an alchemist who can create dopplegangers and produced a food-adjacent!

Now I wonder who invented both.

mmmmmmmmmmm soup feels timeless to me... old... full of love. cereal also feels old but like, not as old? i think soup came first!!! it's a good community dish after all, so it was probably a bunch of people together!

Soup is full of love. You've nailed it perfectly. Cereal, perhaps, is impersonal. You pour it, you're done.

But maybe what makes soup soup is the time spent, the choice of ingredients, knowing that the comfort will come later after much patience and time.

yes!! that's exactly it! and this is why soup is inherently superior too!!

even if cereal is convenient, it could never be the same!!!

I could never turn down the old breakfast soup, but my favorite breakfast soup has to be miso. Extra tofu.

i didn't know there were other soups you could have with breakfast :0 but yes extra tofu is very good!!! tofu is something else love is stored in i think. have you ever made it?

Yes! I make my own all the time, because then I can make it feel exactly the way I like it for whatever I put it in. Though sometimes all I want is an agedashi... that has to be one of my go-to "I've had a bad day" dishes.

Sometimes you want a little fried tofu. Kitsune have it all figured out!

yes!!!! agedashi is soooo good, it's one of my after school snacks!! or sometimes i'll just let tofu sit in soy sauce, sesame oil and some brown sugar overnight?? you don't have to cook it but you could if you wanted. it's really great either way!

Now I need to run off and get some tofu. I'm suddenly starving!
