[ He is excused, if only because Susato is somehow used to the word no. ]

Of course I don’t want to be your nemesis. I just want to talk.

[He pauses, then scratches that out.]

You're the type who's just going to do it even if I tell you I don't want you to, aren't you?

[ Yes. ]

Well I admit it will be difficult if I don’t know where you are.

[Lucky for you, he knows fighting that type only makes things much much worse. It's too bad writing a sigh is really weird because you're missing a great one.]

So that's a yes.

Fine. I'm in the plaza near the board. Was gonna put this up there until I realized this way is easier.

[ Got'em! Susato will have plenty of chances to hear Rob sigh again. For now, her face lights up in a small way. ]

That's not far at all. I will be there in a flash.

[ Though maybe not that fast, honestly. She's on her way there, taking note of the gloomy skies above her, when suddenly she takes a little detour to Dreambucks in a moment of inspiration.

When she appears at the Dream board, it is with two identical drinks in hand. Both are a light-colored pink, topped with ice. She's already sucking the contents of one out of a straw. ]

[Rob is just standing nearby looking like a bored, petulant teenager. He contorts his eyebrow into a questioning look as she approaches with the beverages.]

...Hey. I take it you're thirsty.

I am, but one of them is for you, silly.

[ She is in way too good of a mood to be put off by his... petulant teenager-ness. She holds the cup out to him that clearly hasn't been touched, meanwhile still sipping out of hers with a smile. ]

I thought you might like one in this heat. Try it. It's strawberry and watermelon.

[ And it's fizzy! ]

Oh. Right.

[He glances sideways awkwardly.]

I guess, thanks.

[He'll grab that one she's holding out. Not moving to drink it yet, though.]

So why do you want to talk to me?

[ Siiiiip. Susato just tilts her head. ]

Well, you said you didn't want to write everything out.

[ They could have a seat, though? There's a bench nearby that seems to be calling to them from the shade. Susato starts walking that way, urging him to do the same. ]

[Sure, he'll follow. Again, he knows this type. You have to know when to just give in before they make things horrible. At least that's how it goes with Gumball.

And, since he's begrudgingly walking behind her, he does take a sip! One so far, but it should lead to more. It's pretty good!]

That doesn't mean I wanna talk about it. But I'll admit that it's still easier.

[ Good. She may be cheating slightly here, because she's seen the effects the drink has on others, but if it happens to help Rob with his turmoil, she won't regret it. ]

Oh, it is. My hand starts to hurt if I use the journal for too long. So...

[ Now she's not. She lets out a sigh as she sits down first. Despite him saying outright that he doesn't want to talk about it, she's still going to encourage him. ]

I am just wondering what brought all this on.

Exactly. They could at least give us keyboards or something. Not...that those connect with books...

[Rob plops down on the other edge of the bench and takes a fairly long sip.]

Well, where do you want me to start? I'm looking for a nemesis because I tried to stop being the bad guy after I got here. But when I thought I found something that sounded like it might actually be heroic, it turns out it was a crazy supervillain who probably would have just destroyed everything! I can't even help without being the villain, and I'm not even in Elmore!

[...Wow, why did he just blurt out that much?]

[ Why, indeed. Susato scoots to make room as she sees him ready to plop down. There is a lot to take in here... She has a lot of questions, starting with "what the hell is a keyboard?"

But in the end, she just blinks. ]

"Elmore" ...So that is where you are from. It doesn't sound like you are a villain. It sounds like you were deceived.

[Even Sholmes knew what one was, wow...]

Yeah. It's a weird place. You'd think that that's a given for California, but it's seriously weird.

I guess I was, but that's not the point! It was still an evil plan, and that was the side I was on, like always! Okay, in retrospect, I really should have realized the guy had all the indicators of a supervillain because he was one, but hindsight is 20/20 and I only have one eye to begin with!

[ She gives it a moment for his rant to sink in, though she's glancing at him and that eye of his at its mention. Sure, it's kind of strange, but by now, she's seen plenty stranger.

She offers no reassurances just yet. She needs more information. ]

What was his evil plan?

He said he was making clean energy! And obviously this place needs it, it's like an 1800s fantasy camp.

But I guess he didn't actually know what he was talking about since his master plan machine started destroying everything. Some other guys stopped it because he sure wouldn't. I didn't catch much of what happened, I was still manning the traps.

[ There's a visible reaction at the seemly random mention of the 1800s. That is her century, though she supposes it would have been almost over.

Not important. ]

...Was this near the river? That old warehouse?

Yep, that's the place.

[It's weird, he's kind of feeling...less cranky about it? Also he's just answering before he even realizes it. Weird.

In unrelated news, he takes another sip of his drink.]

[ Susato nods in understanding. Weird indeed! She's also taking regular sips from her own cup. ]

The residents want that cleaned up. I was wondering how it got into such a state of disrepair.

. . . I suppose we are lucky that machine was stopped.

Oh. They might wanna be careful around there. I didn't exactly go back to pick up all the traps they totally avoided somehow...

[But whenever he needs some random bombs, he will have an ample supply. Because there is a list that needs to be used, gosh darn it!]

We are, but that was no thanks to me! So if I can't even try to help without ending up being a bad guy, I may as well just accept it. It was the only role for me back home, too.

[ --!! Well, that sounds like something worth mentioning to the general public, more so than looking for his nemesis! ]

You can't just give up like that. You are young! It may take you far longer to find your role, your purpose in life. You must keep trying.

For example, why not warn the others about your traps? Or go back and help clear them yourself?

Well now that I know people might go there, yeah, they should know! But that doesn't change who I am! I've completely undone things before and I was still the villain after that!

[Not gonna mention that undoing it meant he was the only one who remembered it even happening? ...Nope.]

Look, I'd love to do something about it, but the fact is I just can't. At least not back in Elmore. I tried. And I don't want this place to end up thinking I'm a mistake, too.

[ Susato puffs her cheeks slightly with a hmpth. ]

Well, you're not a mistake, and this isn't Elmore. This is literally a world of your dreams.

...And I want to help you.

[Rob should really be feeling much more upset right now. But oddly, he just has a small "what are you gonna do about it?" sort of frown. He really wants to be more troubled by this fact, but he just can't bring himself to be so.

So he'll just casually reply.]

Oh, I am a mistake. That was already decided. But...you're right. It's not Elmore. It's not Gumball's "amazing world"...

...Thanks? Don't...really know how to respond to that. I haven't heard it since...right when I became a villain, actually.

[ Somehow, him not knowing how to respond is a boon. The fact that he admits it makes it even more so. Susato will take that as a victory, for now. ]

...Alright. Who is Gumball, and what makes his world so amazing?
